I remember watching him in the 90s.A good fighter covered in tatoos who always put on a good show.He lost to Paul Ryan in farcical circumstances and never got a rematch then seemed to disappear.Just wondered if anyone knows what happend to him.

yeah i remember when everyone use to talk bout the Bristol Boys (ie him an Glen Catley) an the unorthodox training methods they use to use
i enjoyed watchin him especially after he beat up on Holligan an the decent knockout of Kane...yeah that would be interestin to know what he's up to nowadays

Lt Welter was a great domestic division back then. Holligan, Neary, Ryan and Hale just for starters.

Was Chris Sanigar the trainer down in Bristol at the time?

What was farcical about the Ryan loss? He got absolutely mullered. Good fighter though.... Always exciting.

Must have had his confidence shattered by Scrap Iron. Actually cried at the end of the dressing room interview afterwards.

His fight with Micky Driscol was a classic,a hard hard hard fight.A good fighter was Hale,I think Holligan was finished pretty much when he fought Ross.

The ref said something if i remember it right and Hale stopped fighting for a second Ryan nailed him and the fight was over.I just remember a lot of people were confused by what had happend. Not taking anything away from Ryan who did nothing wrong, but Hale definatley thought he had been told to stop boxing.Maybe farcical was the wrong word to use.

Went down intially from a cluster of shots... got up and then walked on to a monster left hook whick completely ko'd him. I've got the video. No real controversy it was just a hell of a one round tear up. Hale took his time returning and lost to Paul Denton on a cut... It was a silly match to take, Denton was a good fighter and Ross was coming back from a fairly long layoff and a devestating loss. He was also rocked by Denton. He then fought in form Geoff McCresh for the British Welter title and was over powered and stopped in about three rounds. In his prime he was an excellent fighter and as pointed out earlier, domestically the division was superb back then with guys like Neary, Holligan, Ryan, Hale, Rowland, Thaxton, Paul Burke, Bernard Paul, Georgie Smith, Charlie Kane, Alan Temple plus a host of other cracking domestic level guys....

Paul should never have changed camps after beating Hale.

What an upset Hale-Ryan was. Seem to remember Hale's British title wasn't on the line for some reason - is that right? So Scrap Iron never got the belt.

Not sure about that... Sure it was on the line.

It was Ryan-Thaxton which was the non-title fight. Shame as it took Thaxton forever to finally win it after that.

He KO'd Ryan and Alan Temple after the loss, he also gave shea neary a hell of a fight. He never looked quite the same after the Chavez fight in my opinion.
