1. being irish the first fight i remember seeing was barry mcguigan's last fight v jim mcdonnell. i was eight.

2 the fights that got me into boxing properly were frank bruno v oliver mccall and steve collins v chris eubank. they were on within a week of each other. and i've watched as much boxing as i can ever since. i suppose i could credit steve collins for getting me into boxing. also watched michael currath in the 92 olympic final.

had to get fights like benn v eubank on dvd as i did not have itv or bbc when i was younger.

I come from a very boxing-orientated family so it's hard to pick one moment out.

Things that stuck in my mind as a kid;

Benn's 20-odd fight knockout rampage, local lad Paul Hodkinson winning the WBC Strap (and then appearing on Wogan with the belt in tow), McCulloch crying to 'Oh Danny Boy'.

I can remember seeing Benn/Eubank fights first I think, can remember seeing both Benn Collins fights too, then the Naz era and some Robin Reid, Bruno/Mccall, Tyson/Bruno 2, Calzaghe/Eubank fights got me really into boxing.

I'd have to defintely say though it was Nigel Benn, obviosuly cos I was quite young I didnt know the most and didnt see all his fights around that time but I remember being absolutley gutted when he lost to collins.

Great pciture that Doug!

That's a helluva photo there fella.

As for what got me into boxing. I remember my Dad letting me stay up until the early hours to listen to the first fight v Tyson (I was 9). I was so psyched and then devastated when Big Frank was beaten. I watched his fights on the beeb too.

As I got older it was the great days of Benn etc that really got me into boxing. I remember jumping up and down like a loon when he overcame McClellan (oblivious to what was happening to G-Man)...........still feel guilty about that.

the first fight i saw was ali v cooper and then going to the boxing club when the local paper turned up.
i'd always loved boxing but didn't fight till i was a senior.it was the proudest moment of my life, getting lnto the ring for the first time even though i was on the end of a bad decision.

My first was the Ali v Spinks rematch. It wasn't until the emergence of Bruno that I started to get very interested though.

interesting to hear about the different generations which is why i asked the question.

some people got into boxing around 95 , 96 collins eubank naz era like me.

others go further back. obviously depends on age. its interesting all the same to know what triggered peoples interest for example. ricky hatton or maybe khan would propably be the modern day example of a fighter who draws in casual fans. i guess most fans start out casual and then some get more and more into it.

I can remember watching Chris Eubank when i was young, and flashes of Lennox Lewis vs Frank Bruno...and Nigel Benn vs Chris Euabnk.

These are my first memories, not really vivid.

Well i was only about 5 or something.

First fight I ever watched was Bruno vs Bugner, so I would have been seven at the time. I didn't start following boxing properly until I was around twenty one. I remember watching the odd Eubank, Bruno, Tyson fight inbetween and anything of Ali I could get my hands on.
