who are some fighters in MMA that can't fight on their feet to save their life?

It gets old sometimes watching a guy go after his opponent like a combination of an Octopus and John Ruiz. Some of these guys immediately try and drag the fight to the ground.

Royce Gracie had horrible stand up and was like a worse version of John Ruiz he is probably the most boring fighter I have ever seen in any discipline period.

Thoughts?

Jake Rosholt is a guy that comes to mind right way for a UFC/WEC fighter.

Shinya Aoki. Soon as he gets in range he trys to pull guard or grab a leg. Same with Imanari.

Pretty much all the Gracies except Ryan or the crazy fucker who got KTFO by Gomi.

The bunch of new Brazilians in the UFC middleweight division. Maia, Leites, Palhares.

Rani Yahya an Abu Dhabi champion in the 66kg division back in '07 I think, great BJJ fighter but can't stand up against a 12 year old girl.

There is really no hope for somebody who equates a guy for a takedown with being as boring as Ruiz.

Maia's striking isn't that bad, straight punches and good head kicks if nothing else.

Renato babalu sobral. Did u see how bad was his stand up vs chuck liddell? He looks like he was in a street fight throwing punches. If this guy wasn't so great at submission he would suck big time

maricio cruz (did I spell that right?). Embarrassingly bad. Still holds win over Frank Mir, though.

i cant recall seeing anyone worse then him..

saw his fight on a wec card, against some jj fighter, he was gettting blasted when standing, but the jj guy just lacked a little power and stamina to win..

impressive he won rosholt, but that is by far, the worst ive seen in from any fighter, when talking higher level of mma..

If you understand BJJ or submissions then Royce Gracie isnt boring to watch, I think he actually makes the best of his slight frame, he is never gonna be a hard striker even if he started when he was 3, he is not built for striking, thank Royce & his family we have MMA as it is today.

Paulo Filho doesn't have great striking neither does Wallid Ismail.

I understand BJJ just fine. It does not change the fact that Royce was boring as hell could not strike to save his life and is the MMA version of John Ruiz.

The guy was like an octopus he would latch on and try to take it to the ground without even attempting any stand up. I literally fell asleep during a few of his fights.

Why would he "attempt a little standup"?

The fact that Royce didn't need any striking says more about the value of striking and the mentality of people like you than it does about Royce.

Which fights of Roycea were boring? Almost all of his early fights ended fairly quickly and with a submission; the only boring one really was Shamrock 2, which was really only boring because Ken knew there was a time limit and fought for the draw.

Yea but Ismail hasn't fought in like 8 or 9 years. He was fighting in a period where stand-up was just starting to evolve, plus he holds victories over Royce, Renzo , Ryan and another one of those Gracies in straight BJJ tournament matches under Gracie rules. So I like the guy, hahaha.

Royce getting choked out cold!

Not only did Wallid not have standup, he didn't have anywhere near as good of a guard as the rest of his game.

Pretty amazing, he did all he did with basically just a world class top game.
