Has come into a fight to pull off a good or great win?

Weight drained, sick, going through a family crisis... Things along those lines.

Micheal Spink's outpointed Qawi some odd weeks after his wife was killed in a car crash, for instance.

I've always found it telling what a fighter can accomplish at his lowest ebb as opposed to his highest.

The fight, inwhich Bobby Chacon defeated who ever it was, the night after his wifes suicide was incredible..... shockingly sad, deploreable, commendable and confusing all at once.

Tim Witherspoon was in appalling condition for his world title defence against Body Beautiful Frank Bruno - On Bruno's Home Turf - Also Tim was not Happy Mentally with Arrangements Where he was getting Less then the Challenger even though he was fighting in trhe challengers back Yard

So Physically and Mentally Tim not in good shape - But he still won !

Also as i recall Didnt Howard Davis win the Olympic Gold Medal after his mother had just passed away ( I think it was Howard ?)

Didn't Howard Davis win the Olympic Gold Medal after his mother had just passed away ( I think it was Howard ?)Yes, during the Olympics, and his mother told him to win the Gold Medal. To honor her memory, Howard did as he was told.

I was going to mention Witherspoon v Bruno nice one mate.Tim looked awful and the photos of the fight look stupid,a blob landing a finishing over hand right on a perfectly conditioned Bruno.

Lennox didn't look terrible against Vitali, but he definitely had seen better days. Soft and what not.

Still pulled it off.

I remember watching a fat James Broad beat a fine tall specemine called Eddie Gregg in NYC in the early eighties. Broad was built like a fat beer swilling waster, but had tremendous skills, Gregg looked immaculate and just couldn't handle Broads class..

Ali in his fight against holmes. Body looked good, but totally dehydrated, leaving him weak and unable to sweat. It's a miracle that he was able to last 10 rounds, and without going down at least once.

I've heard some claim that Brennan threw that fight.

Lets say that he did.

Did his oponents throw all his fights after he contracted brights disease?

If not that was one hell of a run for a dying man.

No no, it was AYALA who was strung out on heroin in that fight, or so he later claimed.

Buster Douglas against Mike Tyson

First one that came to mind when I saw this thread.

Also, Holyfield against Tyson. Holy had been forced to retire after being diagnosed with a debilitating heart ailment, and many people felt he shouldn't even be licensed to fight. Sadly, he's still fighting more than a decade later.
