I wondered if he might have a chance to contend at Cruiser, but a split decision win over journeyman Gomez doesn't bode well.

How did Williams look considering the time off and lower weight?

I guess he didnt look good when he can only win a SD against such an low level opponent! But the guy hasnt fought in a long time, i give him another chance, or two, to show what he can do.

Williams is 35, past his prime and has been KO'ed one too many times. He should retire.

I purchased the PPV,Williams was quick on his feet throughout most of the fight not getting involved in any trades with Gomez. However he looks like hes lost alot of snap on his power shots - Gomez was never in trouble.

I only saw round eight; my cable feed for the first hour of the PPV was choppy as hell. He looked tired but still outboxed Gomez and dealt with his pressure well; Al Bernstein seemed pretty sweet on Gomez, gave him the round and the fight.

Post-fight he said "Split decision, I thought I didn't get a split decision, I thought I got a decision. Long Beach Jeremy Williams is back...forget about it!!! I mean, sorry, what I meant is, don't forget about it!"

And called out the champs at CW,...he's California dreamin'...a KO waiting to happen at the elite level.

He's just lucky he wasn't facing Mormeck, Haye, Bell, Wilson, or Enzo Mac. He looks old and slower.
