Marquartd but I think Maia have a better chance.
Yes the fight begin standing, but it would be exciting while it last vs Maia. Yes Maia lacks standing. But with his BJJ talent(probably top 3 talent of all time in BJJ stepping up in the octagon of UFC) Anderson Silva is in a world of trouble if he is on the ground with Maia. Anderson Silva's BJJ is good, a rightly so black belt. But Demian Maia is just amazing on the ground. Put Maia in the exact same place where Lutter was vs A.Silva in the first round, and it's over.
Really an exciting fight. But Marquardt deserve it better yes.
Acually Maia vs Nate would be a great match and winner should get the shot because it sounds like winner of Hendo-Bisping get's a title shot. And what happened to Okami? he came back after his injury with a win over Lister and he was suppose a shot before he got injured.

Hendo or SIlva can fight Bisping on the undercard, to warm up, and then have the main event Silva/Henderson later.

I'll favour Bisping over Hendo. He will get picked apart on their feet. If Bisping can manage to be on his back less time that Franklin did, he has a real chance.

The UFC have screwed over Okami if you ask me. Ok he may not be the most exciting fighter but he should be on the main cards against decent opposition. Instead he gets fed fighters like Lister and a faded (to say the least) Evan Tanner. The bloke took Franklin the distance ffs. Give him a chance.
Anyway, I think Marquardt should get the next shot because he has beaten better opposition than Maia has. Even though it would be nice for Silva to fight someone new.

UFC didnt screw Okami.
He was supposed to face Okami vs Silva in UFC 90. But he pulled out because of broken hand.

Bisping and Henderson arent fighting until July that leaves some time for Anderson to defend his title agian before that and although Nate has improved he has already has his shot I think Maia now deserves his id like to see this fight in July to if possible on UFC 100.

Silva needs to man up and tell his daddy Dana White to go screw himself and he needs to fight Fedor to settle this P4P nonsense.

yep
Dana wouldnt want to lost his P4P number 1 guy:nut
Although if Silva would lose, he would say GSP is the number 1 guy just to discredit Fedor.

Maia, he is the only one that presents a legitimate threat with his ground game, probably the best in the world.
I think Maia can win too.

Right. Then he fought Dean Lister. At UFC 92. On the fucking undercard. When Cheick Kongo and fucking C.B Dolloway were on the main card. That is just bullshit.

Neither. Dana needs to dish out some big bucks and get both Cung Le and Fedor to the UFC and have the winner of Lesnar-Mir face off with Fedor, and Le take on Silva. It would be the biggest fucking ppv of all time in mma.

No, it wouldn't. It wouldn't be the biggest PPV with Anderson Silva even.

Marquardt is just above gatekeeper status. Please lets not make him at the recieving end of KO of the night against Silva. Last night proved that.
No one deserves to be in the ring with Silva at MW. I would say that Maia is the most "intriguing" guy since his JJ is the most effective in the biz (Hazelett a close second). I feel that Silva can stall him for a stand up and thats trouble for someone who has zero striking.
As far as other fighters, Id like to see Cung Le. Lawler as well, while he would get beaten, hed come out swinging.

I respect Hazelett great mma's bjj. But he isnt close of Maia, even for mma's bjj. Maia is like Anderson Silva, on another level for his striking. Like Maia is on another level on the ground.

Well pretty much. Relative to this division. Its hard to distinguish from the players at MW. Leites, Nate, Lawler, Le..Theyre all in the same boat. Its Silva and everyone else. Silva has knocked him out awhile ago and he had the same game last saturday. Nothing will change.
There is a dark horse in the division (UFC), I think its Maia...Now to test Maia, I think he needs to fight a Nate or a Leites to see how serious he is. No way Nate gets a shot first.
In this context, yes he is just above a gatekeeper of the division

My point is that as far as utilizing BJJ in MMA. The things that my eyes have seen in the octagon and the ring. Now MAia is a top level BJJ guy. It needs no explanation that he is better technically than Dustin or Aoki for instance. But as far as MMA and to utilize BJJ skills, Ive seen subs by Hazelett thats never been done on TV.
I agree though about the cross comparison with Silvas skill. The thing is Silvas BJJ is world class as well (no not in Maias class)

Ok, I see where you're coming from. But I think labeling him 'just above gatekeeper status' is selling him short.

This is probably just a disagreement over wording more than anything else. A gatekeeper is a guy that never seems to win the big championship fight - but still beats almost anyone outside the top ten.
At present, Karo Parysian comes to mind. A victory over him puts you into the top ten.

The drubbing he got from Silva doesnt help him. This is what Im talking about, its hard to pump up a guy when its fresh on my mind that Silva was on top of him after reversing him, hailing down with punches.

Not sure about that one but but he aint beating Silva, he didnt even come close, He took him down and wasnt able to do a thing, Silva took him down and it was over. Silvas reach is extraordinary, He can stand up on someones guard and rain down punches.

Even though it wont happen I've voted for Okami. Similiar to what I said about Leites, I think Maia needs 1 more fight vs a guy near the top before a title fight. A fight with Marquardt would be perfect.

Maia for sure.
Nate's already had his chance. Okami I think would be beaten pretty bad I think.
Besides, Okami's last fight was on the undercard I think...
Okami vs Fitch or Nate to see who fights Maia to get the title shot.

You may be right, Toquinho might have more upside and eventually have a better shot, but I think he just needs a tad more seasoning.
