Is it true that Sturm must face Mundine by August 1?

I was told on another forum that the WBA give 9 months for the mandatory fight to be on.......the date mentioned was Aug 1

I thought Mundine VS Sturm was on for July 11 however he then took a fight with Soto on the 25/4/2009...still leaves 3 months.

Anybody know if this will happen and are these rules true?

PS: Unlike the normal Mundine said this mundine did that thread....I am interested to know some facts and rules....any help?

Sturm's last mandatory was on the November last year.

If they really want to they can push that fight back even later than August 1, it has happened several times with the WBA and other organisations. All it takes is a little money.

I dont think Sturm will fight him in July if at all..If he goes for a unification then he(or the unfied champ which probably wont be him) doesnt have to fight Choc for even longer, as Choc will probably be given the chance to fight for the vacant WBA trinket title that he did in his other title fights

Keep an eye on the Sato fight...Sturm has been inconsistent his whole career, putting on a great performance followed by 2 crap ones. Felix had trouble against Castillejo and Masoe.Sato is more like them then any other fighters on Sturm's record, he is aggressive and can seriously punch. His lack of refinement should see him get outboxed but could be interesting.

The WBA won't enforce the mandatory title defense unless the no.1 challenger ask them too.

On other words. Sturm will never fight Mundine.

From Sturms point of view....would he rather keep his title safer and fight guys like Soto and Mundine....or risk it fighting AA or Pav?

I think he will keep it safe and wont unify so I think the mandatory will come up in August or a bit later....do you think he will fight AA or Pav?

He has turned down big money to fight AA...Whilst I dont think he wants to fight AA, he will for the right price and I think he is waiting it out like what happen with Green-Mundine.

Like a lot of German fighters they are content to fight average comp to keep the defences ticking over..Almost like trying to stay in a job for as long as possible and waiting for the redundency.

And who can blame them as long as they are not banging on about being the best.
