Ok, go back to the mainpage & read all of the topics. Now, I know this is an Australian boxing forum.. but it doesnt seem a place to talk about GOOD fighters fighting in GOOD fights... but here goes.

Yes...ok so the guy has a crap record and is rated 250 in the world....however he has been in the ring with some good fighters...even though he got raped by Bute he drew with Griffen...this guy has a fetesh with virgins....or debut fighters.
Its a safe fight for Geale before the big one against the name who wont be said out loud :hey

This Toney guy is pretty big, he is coming down from S/Middle.
He does a few things right and lots wrong but he looks pretty solid and throws big punches.
I expect Geale to outbox him. But i really want to see the old Geale, not being touched, gettin in and out, beating this guy to the punch!!!! not standing inside and trading with him. Its not his style but lately he gets dragged into a rough fight where he shows his heart instead of showing his skills.
Geale KO 11

Toney is a big middleweight but I wouldnt exactly say he is coming down from 168 for this one but he will be the bigger man in there. Looks well over 6ft.
He has fought most of his significant fights at middleweight..In fact I think he only really fought Bute at supermiddle and got dominated.
I havent seen the Karmazin fight but against Bute and Griffin he looked durable and quite physically strong.
Has a hard straight jab which he relies heavily on.
Isnt it over 10 Marcus? I think Dan will get a good 10 round work out and take it clear on points.

So it isnt a defence of his IBO title?

Grange people/poster...read this and give me your reasons why?
It took 6 1/2 months to get the Ajetovic fight, now i was happy with who he fought, but 6 months? Come on, you know how important keeping busy is.. and it took six months. :think
After that McKinnon...geez, this is a keep busy fight, not a fight that takes 6 months to get. This is a fight that should be able to be arranged within 2 months max!!!
Now we have waited 8 months for this fuckin fight that fall through. AGAIN!!!!
Why are you aranging fighters that dont even get a shot at Geales belt!!!! Why would they want to fight? are you fuckin stupid???
Now i would think a legit and ready visa would be one of the first things you have to have ticked off!!! SO FUCKIN WHY HAS THIS HAPPENED ?????? If you took there word for it, smack yourself in the fuckin head,,, get a faxed copy or some shit...jesus!!!
And why cant Geale make a media statement,, calling out fighters from all over the world...I have a belt..come get it!!
Good fighters would jump at the chance and you would have many to choose from. Get him a ESPN fridat night fight..main event!!

Gealey must defend by May Marcus. I really think you are being too hard on Grange here, I know the guys well and they are pros who care about their fighters. Toney screwing up his visa is not their problem (if indeed this is the case), this happens when you deal with certain areas of the world. Hopefully a suitable replacement is found

You have got to be kidding me Phil. Unless your friends with them , and thats cool, but mate. Being young, (well he was when he won the belt) its very important to fight on a regular basis.
Do you think 3 fights in almost 2 years in acceptable?
And if you know the details of the visa , please share it with us.

you know the sayin mate... u make your own luck.
im pretty pumped over this phil, if grange wants to be trainer, promoter and match maker they have better lernt a lesson from all this and know they are out of there depth.
if dan doesnt leave them after this they should have the guts to say he may be better off finding someone else to run things.
i dont mean the boxing training so much but all the other stuff.

For fucks sake Marcus! I never said you didn't like them. My entire point is that more often than not there is more to the situation than what's on the surface. How am I not staying on topic? You said he should leave Grange, I replied I doubt that would happen. Who do you suggest Dan signs with? I am keen to see your response
Marcus
02-26-2009, 05:27 AM
i dont care if they try there best and treat him well.
back on topic.
well gee phil...u want me to suggest what geale does? if my job was to manage geale id take him to the states and travel around to the well known gyms, meeting and greeting trainers and promoters.
i not in boxing as a job but id guess promoters hang around gyms from time to time.
id have geale training and sparring every middle who wanted a go at every gym.
have the head trainer have a look at geale, 5 to ten minutes.. hang around after training is over and speak to the trainer...talking up the ibo belt... geale telling his want and desire to crack to u.s market. geale could sum them up as a person he would want to be trained by or not.
i cant believe they didnt take him on a u.s tour after he won his belt....

I know you feel strongly about this topic and I appreciate that. Now going off your suggestion, how many US promoters would be keen on taking on a quiet-spoken AUSTRALIAN who would help old grannies accross the street and who has only ever done just enough to beat his opponent? Not many I'd be ready to bet. His reputation and international identity will be established after his next opponent and I'm sure you will be happy then
Phil Austin
02-26-2009, 06:03 AM
He won't be giving up the belt Marcus so don't worry. This is how the rules work; A fighter moving division loses 25% of his points if he still has enough to be within the Top-35 or would be if he beats the champion he may then contest the belt. Next month Choc will be rated as a middleweight as he made the weight and defeated Taylor who was ranked 84, now considering he is 3 at super-middle it would be a hard stretch to think he will be outside of the top-35 at 160 come the new ratings
Marcus
02-26-2009, 06:14 AM

The IBO has never been in to mandatories Marcus, normally the only way to be made mandatory is to win an intercon and defend it twice within 18 months against quality opposition. There is an avenue for mandatory under special circumstances ie a champion who has not defended for some time.
Ashley because the IBO top 100 is impartial and rates every fighter in the division including other champions top 15 simply would not be realistic - the top 100 is traditionally stricter than other organizations who have given some slack to certain promoters fighters and have resulted in some great match ups such as De La Hoya V Charpentier, Kamau et al that are simply no good for the sport. Another interesting example - when Tommy Browne fought Injin Chi for the WBC title, he was not even in the top 100. You only climb the ratings based upon the quality of opposition you fight

Marcus

Okay i have a couple of questions now.
1. Shouldn't Geales management have had a backup plan?
2. Why not fight Soliman or Pittman? They are both rated higher then the 175 James Obede Toney on boxrec. If Geale is good enough, he will beat either. And im sure Pittman would accept the challenge. Same goes with Soliman.
Marcus i have to agree with you on this. The management doesn't seem up to scratch. I mean one fight every 6 months? And its not like hes fighting the Joe Calzaghes of the world. Have a look and see what Ajetovich has done since Geale.
Please dont get me started again.
That Ged cunt has done fuckk all since Geale ruined him....thats what Geale does, he rips your heart out and stomps that fucker deep into hell.
And he will ruin Mandy!!! maybe knock his good eye right out of his fucking head
Yes they should have had a back up plan, and maybe a better first plan to start with.
Ask Phil, he likes to defend thier shoddy track record :stir

Phil,
If Daniel defends his title against another australian, are they allowed to have an australian referee or judges?
Barge, the officials will be selected by the IBO. We have at the moment Garry Dean, Brad Griffiths and Steve Marshall as R&J's Of course there is me as well but I would say I will be down as supervisor. I would say there will be a mix of Australian and O/S officials but that is pure conjecture. Once bout agreements and request for sanction is received Ed and I will discuss appointments then.
Nice stir Marcus but I ain't biting! :hi:
