So it seems again that a WEC card is flying under the radar a bit when they almost always produce great fights. Anyway, Mike Brown defends his featherweight title for the first time tonight against Leonard Garcia.
Just interested in your opinions on how this will go.

I think Brown's wrestling, and his strength will be enough to bully Garcia and take this in a UD.

Should be a good fight but I think Garcia will take it. He has improved his stand up and has power in his strikes. He also has very good jiu-jitsu and is capbable of subbing Brown.

On another note. It's March, our bet was only for 1 month right, quebec?

Defo. Both very exciting fighters who come to finish fights. Great match-up.
I forgot this was on. Awesome news. WEC cards are usually my favorite cards of the year. I expect this one to be no less spectacular.

You guys in teh USA are lucky you get to see it. I'll have to watch the fights independently on the internet tomorrow.
Hopefully, should the WEC really take off they could get it on Setanta here in the UK.

I don't have cable any more - so I usually catch all this stuff on-line live if you know what I mean. :thumbsup

Jens Pulver doing commentary. :good
Razor Rob McCullough is about to beat Marcus Hicks in a battle of very strong guys who are both scared shitless of engaging. :yep
I had high hopes for this first fight. It turned out to be the absolute WORST fight I've ever seen. That's what Kalib Starnes vs. Kalib Starnes would probably look like.
I like how Hicks seemed surprised he lost. He did NOTHING all fight. Razor Rob won because instead of doing nothing...he did a tiny, tiny bit of something. I'm not ready to call that something fighting, however. I think I'll refer to it as "kicking air."

And then, on the other end of the spectrum, you have Jose fuckin' Aldo.

Yeah, but who was that joker he was in with? I haven't seen striking that bad in MMA since 1993. Holy balls. And we get a strange boxing-style stoppage.
This WEC has kind of...well, sucked.

Aldo is in need of a live body. Last one was...tiny Nog?
I'm really salivating for a Faber match-up.

 What I said about Garcia at the start of this thread also applies for Brown. Brown did a great job and to be honest im surprised he won the way he did. Looking forward to Brown vs Faber 2. Aldo needs a tougher oppenent for his next fight. Haven't bothered watching McCullough vs Hicks after reading the comments.

From mma weekly:
Marcus Galvao Checks Out Okay After Scary KO
In just :18 seconds, Marcus Galvao's night at the WEC event in Corpus Christi, TX ended, but it was much scarier following the fight as the Brazilian was visibly shaken after the knockout and taken out of the cage on a stretcher.
It appeared in the cage that Galvao's body was seizing from the effects of the knockout, but following the event MMA Insider was able to ascertain that the fighter was okay and released from the hospital.
Galvao was taken to a local medical facility where he was given a CAT scan as a precaution following the KO, but all results came back negative and he was released before the post fight press conference had even ended.
After a frightful time in the cage, it's good news that Galvao was able to leave on his own and suffer no serious damage from the knockout.
Glad he is ok as it was a burtal KO. The ref could have stopped it sooner as he was gone when he hit the ground and then took 2 big shots.
