this weeks league of ireland bet bohs1-3,cork city 4-7, derry city 8-15 and sligo rovers11-10.i also did a fiver double on united and liverpools reserves.i never knew you could back reserve matches

digregorio1.
04-23-2009, 01:36 PM
A double is where you put say.... Froch and Hatton both to win, treble would be picking 3, 4 folds 4 and so on.

but on sky bet, if i choose 4 outcomes for example, and i put £1 on an accumilstor i win £18, then if i put £1 in the doubles section my estimated winnings are £28, and there description of doubles is "any 2 selections must win for you to clame your winnings"

** actually iv just realised that when i put the £1.00 in the doubles section, my total stake changes to £7 and not £1 which is weird, so they have timesed it by 7, o.k i get it now that was the only issue i had

digregorio1.
04-23-2009, 01:54 PM
hold on, i put a 15-fold accumilator bet in on william hill and put a £1 stake on (0.04pence) on a double and my estimated winnings were £50, now does that mean only 2 of the 15 events have to win cz if thats the case my £50 is guaranteed, it is virtually impossible that i would lose on that as the bets were on things like man utd beating totenham, and ronnie'osullivan beating his opponent

No....

You can pick say 4 teams to win, either as singles, i.e separate bets, doubles (6 bets on the various combinations), trebles (however many combos of 3) or as an accumulator - or even one which combines the singles, doubles, trebles and accumulator.

If you pick 6 doubles at £1 each (£6) it will display your POTENTIAL winnings, should all four win. If only two win your return will be next to nothing probably, three a bit extra and four the full amount.

Once you get used to it.... the whole thing gets much easier.

Betting on events where there is absolutely nothing at stake never really appeals to me.

Teams that have already secured a play off place often come out and underpeform. Youth team would at least be up for it. But Redditch have nothing to play for either and may be mentally on the beach.

It's like trying to predict who will be trying the least.

Wolves look like a steal at 8/11 away at Barnsley..... but Wolves have already secured promotion and Barnsley fighting for survival - so leaving that alone!

guys who farsley celtic are playing are supposed to be doing the same(fielding a youth team), but you can only get 4/5 on farsley on betfair. might have been worth a double, but dont think the bookies, apart from betfair, are taking bets on the farsley game, must have got wind of it.

Even you prediction has Pompey getting a minimum of 40 points, which has only seen three teams relegated since the league cut to 20 teams. Forty points will very likely be enough. Arsenal at home is eminately winnable for them as Arsenal have absolutely nothing to play for in the Premiership and that game is three days before the second leg of the Champions League semi final - you seriously want to stake money on Arsenal turning up for the Portsmouth game? Wigan are unlikely to have anything to play for on the last day as they are comfortably out of European contention and comfortably above the relegation zone. Even if Newcastle did go on a run and finish above Portsmouth there's no guarantee that Hull or Sunderland will as well. And that's all assuming Portsmouth don't just do a job at St James Park tonight which they are more than capable of doing against what is a woeful Newcastle side.

But if you do fancy it 26 and 27/1 are available on Betfair.

yh some good points ther...ur making me doubt myself now, bt i have faith - thers always surprises when it comes to this stage of the season. i did think the arsenal game came after the champo league 2nd leg bt ther U18's would still give anyone a game and wigan have a mangaer who has pride and wont want to lose especially wiv it being at home, its worth a punt anyway

i already stuck £5 on it...u watch pompey do a number on newcastle tonight now

The smart bet is Chelsea fellas.

Barca are going to have Pique and either Abidal or Caceres up against Drogba. Who, other than Yaya Toure and perhaps Pique is going to be picking up Ballack, Drogba, Terry, Alex etc at dead ball situations? This on a much smaller pitch that will suit a more direct game from Chelsea, and will require even more intricate play than usual from Xavi and Iniesta in midfield.

I'd be shocked if Chelsea do not go through, but my heart says Barca. I think Barca-United is the final for the neutral.

Tarver is 13/2 on betfair....

After the last abominable performance, the only positives I can say for him is that he does rematches well, and perhaps Dawson thinks it's already a given and hasn't trained properly. I'm not sure if 13/2 is long enough to be tempting though...

I may put a couple of quid (literally) on him for a bit of fun though.

Kotelnik at 6/4 seems decent enough.... I'd make him the favourite.

Khan will most likely be odds-on because people bet with their hearts rather than their heads.... I was in the bookies last week and pretty much everyone was loading up on Hatton by KO, it was the same for the Floyd fight... hence why the odds were real close.

It might be worth a quid.

Then again.... the voters seem obsessed with Formula 1 - every time a Brit guy does anything they are always in the top 3 without fail.

I was surprised Hamilton didn't get it in 2007, because there was a fair few contenders, and a fair share of the vote must have been split - the same way it was when Man Utd won the treble and Ginola got POTY :nut

Latest PL relegation odds..... courtesy of Betfair.

Middlesbrough 1/33
Newcastle 5/8
Hull 9/5
Sunderland 27/2

I put a tenner on Newcastle at the same odds after the Everton game..... I guess they haven't narrowed because Hull have Man Utd next week and Newcastle have Villa who are crap ATM.

What would Sunderland have to do to be relegated.... I guess if Hull and Newcastle both win :nut and they lose both their remaining games that would do it?

djoc175

Sunderland could pick up 1 point from their last 2 games and still go down but goal difference would come into it in that case.2 points would make them safe

Sunderland 36 -17 36
Hull 37 -24 35
Newcastle 37 -18 34

I last saw them against Everton and they were shocking..... I can see them getting a point tonight but 27/2 looks tempting, just for £2 in case they lose - then they would be down to about 8/1 or perhaps less, especially if it's by more than one.

Newcastle were 25/1 at the start of the season :nut

Then again, because Newcastle and Middlesbrough players didn't really give a fuck, Hull and WBA totally bombed it was like starting from 16th.

Yep...their attack is very good. All bases covered I'd have thought with the two spinners, Malinga even though he's not at his best is a great death bowler. The only worry I'd have for them against the South Africans especially is if they lose a few early wickets which is possible against Steyn then I don't really rate their lower order players like Silva and Mubarak. Once you're past the top 4 it looks threadbare...

It's pretty hard to split SA, India and SL for me and I doubt I'll be betting on any of those pitted against each other.

Boucher blocking the last ball in a D\L affected game
Smith trying to slog Bracken and McGrath when the ball is swinging

India look a vibrant side though, but I have a gut feel for SL. All they need is a decent ish score to bowl at and the nerves will be jangling!

What are y'all betting strategies for Wladimir Klitschko/Ruslan Chagaev?

I'm thinking a small bet on Chagaev is too good to miss, purely on value. 5/1 as if he's some type of Rahman. Come on.

Probably, I realise Wlad is a favourite and the odds are in his favour, I just don't see a 5/1 underdog. Wlad is never comfortable in the ring against a southpaw, and Chagaev is a pretty good 'un.

Cuts could actually be a problem looking at Chagaev's last fight, but that was a headbutt I think. Wlad does not like the inside stuff so I'd think the chances are smaller from the gloves, and I believe Chagaev is slippery enough and Wlad will be cautious enough for the fight to go 12.

I think on boxing with Betfair you find the best odds for points wins on the round betting section, on a few occasions I have had a bet to nothing with real good odds on the underdog - lost most times but only £2 each time.

The one I am most pissed with missing is Holland to beat England in the T20, I had a wee hunch on that.

06-21-2009, 12:16 PM
I wouldn't say he's a cert. Except for the final he didn't quite look at his best at the French. Which is saying something considering he won it...but I still think he's lost something physically. It's probably only Murray to stop him though, Murray has a good record against him and is in good form. This is a great chance for Murray considering he won't have to meet him until the final.

Del Potro my outsider because he's got a big serve and groundstokes, on grass he should be tough to handle.

Serena is the womens favourite, but I take Venus. You can't back against Venus on grass IMO.

Wozniacki outsider, shes a good all-round talent and should do well.

Seems like ****stan are cruising towards glory....who'd have thought it. Enigmatic.

Beeston Brawler
06-21-2009, 12:22 PM
He has lost something physically yes, but Murray still loses to players that he shouldn't lose to, and still isn't all that on grass.

I'd always take Venus on grass, not the greatest follower of women's tennis.

****stan seem to be on their merry way, but they are always a car crash waiting to happen. The commentators have been maling a big deal about Afridi's supposed improved form, but if you actually take a ball or two to see what the wicket offers and the bowlers on display you will do better

Many bookies have not even priced this up yet.

Pile on it.

What do know about this Gevor TFFP?

TFFP
06-24-2009, 10:36 PM
He's a pressure fighter. Tough as they come. He went at it with Abraham for 11 hard rounds and took more punishment than anybody I've seen from AA. He was holding his own too, make no mistake.

Coming off a good win against Asikainen for the European title, he's ready for this.

He's comparable to Castillejo who beat Sturm once, and as a pressure fighter he's got the right style to fluster Sturm and test his questionable chin.

Sturm ain't 1/3 on in my eyes, no way.

06-25-2009, 02:04 AM

They will win at Lord's, Headingley and Edgbaston.... England will win at Cardiff, draw at the Oval.

Leading run scorer Ponting, leading wicket taker Johnson.

Yeah...he's fought Abraham.

Gevor is Sturm's best opponent apart from Castillejo who he went 1-1 with, and Oscar who was never a middleweight.

And he's 3/1...doesn't figure.

Seen the Abraham fight and he gave himself a good showing. I think that was Arthur before the weight problems came in as well. The thing with Sturm is you know how good a boxer he is just that he is with such bad opponents.

Thing i might throw some money down on Geovor especially at 3-1. Have you seen his other losses to Konecny?

TFFP
06-25-2009, 06:44 AM
Konencny was 7 years ago at 154lbs. I wouldn't get too hung up on that.

There is a certain parallel in that Castillejo an old 154lb'er knocked out Sturm, and Gevor is another former 154lber...

Sturm is a good boxer yeah, don't get me wrong he is the favourite, but this ain't just about picking a winner. It's about odds and value. I see it no more than 65-35 Sturm.

Mir submitted Lesnar in there first fight but was getting battered until then. I'm was going on the fact Lesnar hasn't got that much experience while Mir can pull a sub from almost anywhere when given the chance. Qubecwarrior seems to think Lesnar will pull it off and he knows MMA more than me so he really fucked me up here

Bisping might be a safer bet at 15/8 it all depends on how much Hendo has left though

I currently play at Skybet and having played on other sites there more or less all the same as far as bad luck go. They will sometimes throw up situations that guarantee someone will go broke, hands that Phil Helmuth himself would struggle to get away from.

I was probably even on the tournament as a whole, up or down a few p either way.

The big winner for me was a first round match, can't remember who it was, but I backed some woman from a set down with my last £2 and got real good odds...... kept half the winnings and put the rest on Federer to win the tourney at evens.

Lost a bit on Laura Robson in her match and also Murray vs Roddick.... my logic was that Roddick was backing up after a tough five setter vs Hewitt and Murray won his quarter easily.

:patsch :patsch I left Eddie Chambers alone as well :patsch :patsch

I don't know much about Small. Infact I don't think I've ever seen him fight. His record isn't too impressive and he's lost to Pryce which doesn't bode well...but it could be a poor night. I heard he was winning and it was stamina related, he could have improved that.

If he fights how people describe him, he could be all wrong for Hall because Hall doesn't move so much as walk. But then Hall could be wrong for him if his stamina is still questionable.

I think the bookies have got it right, Hall slight favourite, all results possible IMO. Brave man to go big on this.
