Well after last night I think thats me done with betting on boxing. I had £25 on Chisora at 5/1 (also had £50 on Helenius KO:dead) and not for the first time I feel robbed. In recent times Iv been done by either incompetence or outright cheating in Hopkins/Pascal 1, Hopkins/Dawson, the Ghanaian guy who faced Jamie Cox and going back a bit further Lebedev/Huck. A difference of around £400:fire

I think Il stick to football from now on.

I was considering laying off in final round as Helenius was 11/4. But the i thought if he 11/4 and its been so clear the judges could not rob him

I have profited from bad calls too so it evens itself out but this one was hard to take.

Yeah that's the thing with boxing nowadays. Far to many robberies and ridiculous scoring. You can't win (even if you did actually win). The judges are robbing bastards and never score in favor of the away fighter. I think I'll stay away from now on as well. Leaving your money with the corrupt judges today is unforgiving.

Tip: Stay away from betting on away fighters unless you feel they can knock out the hometown fighter:good You aren't going to win a decision away unless - the away fighter absolutely annihilates the hometown fighter every single round (even then the judges find a way to score a draw mind).

WalletInspector

could someone explain what a handicap -1 tie is please.

It's where the game finishes a draw when you apply the handicap. For example:

Manure -1 = 7/4
Draw -1 = 5/2
Basel +1 = 11/10

So if Manure win by 1 goal with the -1 applied, it's a draw, so you would win backing the draw -1.

Divers will be back out, ground permitting on Saturday. Spoke to the owner the other day and if they dont get the ground they are after at cheltenham on Saturday they will go to Doncaster(i think he said?) the week after, horse came out great the other week and will be reopposing the pair in front of it last time but on much more favourable terms this time. Owner is very confident if it gets good ground.

Only the worlds and the UK Championship have a best of 19 format in the early stages of tourneys though. Players are used to these quicker matches playing them in the PTC events and all other minor events, 14 of the 16 seeds won there 1st round match this week.

Darts can be so unpredictable though. Plus it's short format (like first to 6 I think) in the early rounds of this tournament.

Best bet tonight is probably Mark Walsh to hit the most 180s against Mark Hylton at 15/8. I really don't understand why Hylton is such a big favourite for that. Walsh is all round a much more proven player.

And yeah you'd fancy Newton to win his quarter but there aren't any easy games in that section. All players there are of a similar consistent standard really.

Says on Paddy Power that race is a "money back special", does that mean money back if the favourite wins?

It's not giving me details whereas there is a money back special on El Classico but it gives details that if Messi or Ronaldo score first all scorer, scorecasts and correct scores will be refunded.

Segura stoppage is at evens. Viloria has been worn down before, and he's up against one of the most relentless, big punching lower weight fighters in the world.

Theophane rounds 7-12 - 9/4. Murphy is tough, but with a lack of preparation and also going in against a solid operator in Theophane who wears opponents down, I think he'll struggle to reach the end of the fight.

The double with Ladbrokes pays at odds of 6.50.

Dont think so really, i was against him last year at this price when he was playing some uninspired darts and he was unbackable in the 1st 3 rounds and a 1/7 shot in his qf with webster and 1/2 to win the tourney at that point, and that was with Lewis, Webby and Anderson all having higher 3 dart averages than him in the 1st 3 rounds. Yes. I rang Victor Chandler just after the event and told them it was part of a 4-fold and asked if it would go forward as a non-runner if it was deemed a NC. They said 'Yes'.

I'm just off the phone to them now they've sent it to the settlement team or something and they'll get back to me but she seemed to suggest that the 4-fold would stand as a treble (obviously without the Hopkins fight)

He looked done then but you can never write him off. I remember having a ton on him to win the 2009 worlds after the 2008 had just finished, got him at 11/2 after he had lost to Mardle in the quarters and that was when Whitlock and Anderson had yet to cross over! The man comes back stronger every time he loses and gets written off. Would have thought the bookies would learnt that by now.

I'd be shocked and impressed if Lewis managed to retain the title with the added pressure of being 'reigning Champ'.

You're right Markyboy86; Taylor gets written off all too easily and others get talked up based on a couple of decent runs in tournaments or some impressive performances in floor events. Take Jus-tin Pipe for example. He is shorter than Terry Jenkins to win the 3rd quarter. Bizarre and quite frankly wrong! Jenkins has come into some sort of form as well.

Pipe is a terrible tv player as shown by his choking against Webster at the weekend, 8 missed darts for the match, he is great on the floor when there is not added pressure as shown by his number 1 seeding over the course of all PC events throughout the year.

Taylor highest 3 dart average at 6/4 could be value, the only way he wont get the highest is by the person who knocks him out i think.

I'm just checking the outright markets now. That 6/4 on Taylor top average is a good bet I reckon. He's more consistent than any other player especially on the doubles. That's what costs players like Lewis and Anderson points on their averages. Far more scoring power than Phil but erratic doubling. They might average more than Phil once or twice but not over the course of a tournament (Unless they go out in round one with a 115 average or something unforeseen).

Is this a tournament average or just highest in one match? If it's one match, scrap Taylor.

No, his best all tourney was 103.44, Taylor was distinctly average last year yet his best was 102.09. Anderson was on fire last year too. Fancy Taylor to average atleast 105 in atleast 1 match and that should be enough.

It's in one game. Not a tournament average. Not sure what I was thinking. In the recent Grand Slam, Taylor's highest average was 112.37. Anderson's highest was 104.6. Taylor also recorded averages of 109.04, 107.76, 104.46 and 100.93. Might be worth checking on Lewis' stats also.

Markyboy86
12-14-2011, 05:11 PM
Lewis best last year in winning it was 101.05, he only broke the 100 mark one other time. Cant see anyone getting close to Taylor in this market.

A good first round punt is Peter Wright 4/5 to beat Jelle Klaasen.
Wright is progressing nicely and improves everytime hes on stage . Jelle is a mood player and does go through poor spells in games and i think Wright has the allround game to beat Klaasen.
Stick him in with Webster , Wesley and Lewis for a 2/1 four timer with Stan James

Cant see anyone but Taylor winning this. Lewis wont do fuck all this year either I feel. Would like to see Anderson win it but his form has been erratic of late. Barney wont come near to winning it either.

The oldmaster tipped up two guys to win outright and his tips for the first round are for both to get beat!!!:nut

Kevshat and I think its Spooner are pretty knowledgeable. One tourney, they went thru nearly every round, it was ridiculous

Best price on ward to win decision/tech. decision is 4/7...... Ward to win by unanimous decision (likely) is 11/10 with boylesports, anyone confident with ward on points that is a great bet.

I'm going with Froch 5/2, cos be so pissed if he won and i never backed him

Having a look at the odds for Klitschko/Chisora. Del Boy has a decent beard and I think 5/1 for Klitschko points is pretty big. 4/1 either wins on points. Over 9.5 rounds 7/4

All odds Skybet.

Lump on New England -6 for anyone thats interested in the nfl. Have a wee bit on NE to win between 19-24 too at 8/1. The -6 is the best bet of the year for me.
