Just looked on the Betfair form guide for League 2 ahead of tonights game between Chesterfield and Crewe.Chesterfield have the best home form in the league but Crewe appear to be no mugs away from home(won 4 and drawn 1 out of 9 played).I fully expect a home win but may take a stab at the draw:thinkCrewe have scored 17 in 9 games away.Probably won't bother though

Hope that didn't cost you much. I had a look at it this morning but didn't have a feel for it at all. you were right to point out the goals they've scored away from home!

thats nonsense... im actually considering betting more, not less!

dude....Boulouge haven't won a single game scince week 3...

its week 16 now....

scince their last win... they have a record of 9 losses and 3 draws...

if you dont think thats a sign of a shitty team than i dunno what to tell you...

fact is, these guys are not good at all and even a average mid table team like Paris can look good vs. them.

Bouloge have scored 2 goals against Paris Saint Germain, thats the MOST they have EVER scored vs. a opponent so far in Ligue 1....scince week 8 where they scored 2 vs. Lille (another stuggling club)

fact is.. if Paris was any good at all, they would of kept a clean sheet like Toulouse, Lorient, Rennes and Bordeaux etc... had.

Bouloage have a real bad goalkeeper situation... they are on thier 3rd keeper so far this season! We arent even half way threw the season yet these guys cant even find a decent one and they are trying out these young guys in net who arent experienced enough vs opponents like Paris etc...

that alone is bound to score goals.....just look at the facts dude... even before the Paris game, these guys conceeded 8 goals in thier last 3!!

thats 13 goals in thier last 4 including the rapage Paris put on them.

dont even get me started on thier Defence!

what im trying to say here is..... Paris had to go all out and attack like they did cause they lost a very vital player in Grigory Coupet(GK).... when you have a new goalkeeper you're going to HAVE to up your attacking game up a little.

also, not trying to be racist here but thier "new" goalkeeper is black... whens the last time you saw a decent black goalkeeper? not much bro... you will get your OCCASIONALL one or two. this was his first game of the season in Ligue 1. He has NEVER been a sub til the last 5 mins of the Auxerre game last week cause of the horrific injury Coupet had.

Bordeaux are a good teamworking style of play that can score from any angle(Counter Attacks, Set Peices, Corners)....these guys arent the French Champions for shits n giggles you know.. these guys are a top notch team...and they are even tearing it up in the champions leauge!

Do you need more to convincing thoughts?

Ill give one last one:

Bordeaux are 20 wins, 8 draws, and 6 losses ALL TIME vs. Paris St. Germain when playing at home....

Last season they won 4-0 and the season before that they beat them again this time 3-0!

Paris are a declining team, and Bordeaux are a climbing team filled with tons of potential.

I for one am glad Paris won that game and scored 5 goals cause now the bookies are going to jizz thier panties....and who knows... the odd might even INCREASE!! :D

that is all

whatever your descision is.....good luck buddy.... cause i already put 130$ on a Bordeaux straight up win at 1.67 odd :good

exactly....

i mean, im not trying to be racist or anything but its not just a stereotype, its the truth.

and its not just in football... look at other sports too as a factor like handball, volleyball and even hockey...those 3 sports also have a lot of use for stopping shots with your hands... and honestly, black people cant do that!

anyways if whatever i wrote wasnt enough to convince you to at least put a small stake on Bordeaux than i dunno what else you want to know :tong
edit

also keep in mind this guy had NO TIME AT ALL this season apart from the game today and the 5 mins he had vs. Auxerre.

edit

also if you look on Wikipedia(yea i know but still...) hes only played 1 full game for PSG and it was this one!

:good

This is the only bit that has me worried. Having seen it work (and also scoring 4 in their last but one away game) I'm assuming PSG will go all out at Bordeaux as well. I do take comfort in the fact that Boulogne scored 2 though.

I know Bordeux have the best defence in the league but the respect they get for being champions means that teams don't often try and take the game to them. The question in my head is how will they cope with a team going all out at them. I would hope and expect that they have the strength to keep it together but there's alway the possibility that they could be caught off guard a couple of times early in the game. I can't see a PSG win but if they score a couple early the draw could be a possibility.

That said I'll still be backing Bordeaux's attacking prowess and taking them to win with an above average stake albeit an as yet undetermined one.

Werder have a lot of injury problems but are on a 21 game run. They will have to make do without Wiese, Naldo, Boenisch, Özil, Pizarro, Marin, Bargfrede.
3rd GK Mielitz will play.

Roma have Lazio at the weekend, could be distracted by that but apparently are going to take the game seriously.

Fulham, despite major attacking injuries should beat CSKA. The coach of CSKA hasn't travelled to England as he owes money to the Bulgarian government.

Shakter have already qualified, motivation low but Brugge aint the best.

Any tips TFFP?
KR would usually win but its worth keeping in mind its just a practice game. KR is the second best team in Iceland and Leiknir is a second division club. Whether its worth it away from home I'm not sure, the 1/3 sort of implies KR would be caring about this game. KR have played a few practice matches already against similar opposition and just about won both times.

Do you normally just go with single bets? Always the same stake on an average confidence bet?
Of course not. The stake is always determined by the risk. I don't do average confidence, average confidence + bookies prices loses. Only likely or extremely likely in my mind :D

Well for this I just did a double of the two I liked which was Celtic and Roma as they were best priced and I liked them more than some of the others so it made sense. I do between 20-50 on a double normally, lower for a treble and I rarely do more than that. 20-100 on boxing though I have done really big ones occasionally if something stands out but not in a while. Probably not since Katsidis/Casamayor have I done a really big bet.

By average confidence I meant your average confidence level for a result you bet on (which as you say is either likely or extremely likely ;)) as against a result you really really like. The stake range for the type of bet pretty much answered my question. :happy

Checked my bet history recently and I'm only marginally up. I need to start thinking about my strategy more if I'm to win anything. Have been just spreading bets around with no strategy or consistency. I've been guilty of placing far too many small stake bets at relatively long odds.

12-03-2009, 06:55 PM
Long odds and short odds are both bad strategy unless its really selective because over time you can never beat the bookmakers math when they are creaming off the top of the prices in their favour. I started off like that in university, hoping to land the jackpot with minimal risk but I was losing too much and it added up over a period. Suddenly I'd check my history realize I'm £100 down for the month...Shittttt I was startled. But eventually when I found a formula that works for me I actually paid off most of my university debt before getting a job. I had debt of £15,000 and over 3 years I chipped it down. That sounds a lot but over 3 years it isn't and I did that without risking life and limb.

Try and keep around evens - 2/1 odds and see what happens, as long as your knowledge of your chosen markets is good I think it will turn out more healthy.

Barnes is the one, just if he can get through that first round he's the most gifted fighter in it, that first round is the tricky one because it'll be a tactical battle between two good boxers lacking confidence after lay offs.

Dunno, feels like just 10 for me. Can't say I have a high degree of certainty about any of them but I'm just looking forward to watching it.

If Khan get's caught Roach won't be able to do jack mate.

I may be totally wrong, but I'm just not sold on Prescott. I think Kev will be right up for this and will bring an intensity he can't handle.

Jones is a decent fighter, IMO.

Some pearlers if you check oddschecker...... only worth £3 each mind.

Nigel Wright 7/1 to beat Alex Arthur

Just Boxrec'd Enzo's man, 6 (0) - 12 (1) - 4 - taken David Dolan and Terry Dunstan the distance. He isn't a world beater by any means, but for the price of a pint I think it's too good to miss, just in case :good

That DeGale price is very good for a 6 rounder IMO. DeGale has a few stoppages but he doesn't exactly give the impression he punches hard. If King is not too ambitious and doesn't find himself on the end of clean counters DeGale would have a hard time breaking him down

any champions leauge bets?

im kinda liking Juventus to win...but a draw is a high possibility too, as it maked them advance as well.. The odds seem stacked against Louis van Gaal's Bayern, with Juventus enjoying home advantage and needing only a draw.

The Italians are also unbeaten in their last 16 home games in the Champions League, have won their last four home games against German teams -- two of them against Bayern -- and have lost only three of 22 home matches against German clubs in total.

The Bundesliga side should be boosted by the return to fitness of Dutch midfielder Arjen Robben, who will add much needed pace and control in midfield especially in the absence of injured playmaker Franck Ribery.

"It is an important match and I would like to play from the start," Robben told reporters. "I do not know how long I can play. Maybe 60-70 minutes but possibly also 90 minutes."

Vidoz is trash and Sosnowski is alright so on that basis I'd be surprised if Sosnowoski didn't win. Pianeta is a hell of a lot better than Vidoz and Sosnowski deserved the decision so I doubt Vidoz will be a problem. Plus Sosnowski has 'home' advantage.

As for how, hard to say. Sosnowski puts on a lot of pressure so he could get a stoppage late on but I'm not sure. Could easily be a decision but I'd guess late stoppage.

im thinking of taking a high risk parlay with Klitschko over Johnson and Sosnowski over Vidoz.... 100$ wins me 35$ but it seems like a sure 97% win.

Yeah I think Sosnowski is one to play in an accumulator. Too difficult to say how he'll win that. Vidoz is durable but 39 years old. Been stopped a few times but sometimes goes the distance. Kinda unpredictable and Sosnowski is not a puncher just has a high work-rate, might be enough against 39 year old legs.

any champions leauge bets?

im kinda liking Juventus to win...but a draw is a high possibility too, as it maked them advance as well..

The price on a Juve win is really good but betting on a match where a team only needs a draw,ESPECIALLY AN ITALION team could be ridiculously frustrating.

Imagine watching the game,15 minutes to go.....Juve passing the ball back with no intention of attacking. It would drive you nuts.

No bet IMO.

Any thoughts on Klitschko vs Johnson......

I can't get ahold of any footage of Johnson, but judging by comments on the GF it seems he has a jab and not much else.

The lines suggest a pretty easy victory for Vitali...... but what interests me is the stoppage on offer at 8/15 with Boylesports...... points 5/2 (Sportingbet).

If you are interested in Johnson, stoppage is available at 14/1 with various bookies, points 20/1 with Skybet (who only offer 8's on the stoppage!).

[Edit - Mosley vs Berto]

Bet365 are offering 9/4 on the under (10.5)

Beeston ... Leeds and Charlton both 8/11 in midweek ... this appears to be your area of expertise ... what u reckon the double ?

Beeston Brawler
12-07-2009, 07:28 AM
Hmm.......

Leeds have had a great run way from home, 7 wins with a draw and a loss, whilst Brentford have 4 wins, 4 draws and 2 losses. Depending on the team selected, I'd take Leeds to win.

With us having the FA Cup game in the week, and a tie with Man Utd to aim for, the fans will expect a victory - therefore after the shocker in the first tie it might mean a full strength side..... with a few benchies getting an outing in the league game.

That said, we played a few benchies against Oldham in the game after the first tie and won pretty well by all accounts. That goalie is dodgy though.... we need the 1st choice kid to get back asap.

Charlton are decent-ish away from home, Stockport are the worst side in the division and don't like home games.

I'd take it, yes.

There's some good value to be had in the Championship again this week.

I'm looking to take a couple of bets from:

Doncaster V Sheff Wed 11/10
Ipswich V Peterborough 4/5
Sheff Utd. V Nottm Forest (Draw no bet) 5/4
Swansea V Plymouth 4/6
Middlesbrough V Blackpool 8/11

Gone for the Leeds and Milwall double in the cup replays as well at around 0.71

Suggestions?

How about Australia to beat West Indies in the cricket?

Windies are 300 ahead with two wickets remaining going into the last day......

Australia 7/2
West Indies 19/4
Draw 5/8

Might be worth sticking a fiver on both teams, leaving the draw out.
