Ali would most likely be hit hardest by Louis.

Jeffries would most likely be hit hardest by Dempsey.

McCall would most likely be hit hardest by Marciano.

See what I mean?

As overal puncher i'd say Louis is the best because of his speed, positioning, diversity and power. Dempsey comes in second and Marciano after that, but as i pointed out earlier, this is not taking into account other factors like stamina (where Marciano comes in).

Joe Louis, Rocky Marciano, and Jack Dempsey in that order.

1) Jack Dempsey.

For one single haymaker with either hand, I'll take the first left hook which Dempsey decked Willard with (in caving in Jess's cheekbone), and the right uppercut rocket launcher off the ropes which laid out Firpo for over 20 seconds before Jack came over to lift him off the deck. Dempsey frequently had to knock down opponents repeatedly before putting them down for the count, because he hit so hard that each punch he delivered could be a knockdown blow. He dropped Bill Brennan for the count in round 12 of a brutal contest with bodyshots, and Brennan was a rock solid 200 pounder.

2) Rocky Marciano

Common sparring partners and opponents of both Louis and Marciano said that Rocky could hurt more with one punch than Louis could with four. I rate him below Dempsey because Jack blew out modern sized heavyweights with his artillery, something Marciano never had the chance to prove he was capable of. Still, it's hard for me to envision Rocky suddenly blasting out Lennox Lewis with a single early shot like McCall and Rahman. Dempsey did it more than once to Lennox sized heavyweights who were naturally huge, not made that way through growth enhancing substances.

3) Joe Louis

Although Louis is the third hardest puncher on my list, he's also the most technically sound puncher of the three, able to knock out opponents harder punchers failed to floor with his superb combination punching expertise. Earnie Shavers may be the hardest puncher in heavyweight history, but Louis was a better puncher in his execution and delivery.

:good when it comes to nothing but just who hit harder, or who had more power, Marciano IMO is a top 5 guy, and the best out of these people.

marciano

I think Louis had the best techniqe and combinations.

I think Demspey had the best pure power.

I think Marciano kept his power with him the longest.

If you're asking who hit the hardest, I would say Dempsey, followed by Louis, then Marciano.

Joe Walcott had Marciano over Louis in terms of raw power.

Every fighter that ever was, was only able to execute properly dependant upon his oponent.

Agreed!

I think Louis barely edges out Dempsey as the heaviest two-handed puncher. Marciano's left was too ordinary to consider him as good a hitter as these two.

I think Louis barely edges out Dempsey as the heaviest two-handed puncher. For whatever it's worth, Nat Fleischer did grant Dempsey this specific designation in 1957.Marciano's left was too ordinary to consider him as good a hitter as these two. While this may have been true earlier in his career, he continued to work on the development of his hook. That was the biggest surprise to Joe Louis when they fought, for Rocky to score his first knockdown of Joe with it. His hook was the first thing Louis asked him about afterwards. I think his double hook starching of Kid Mathews was the finest single instant of action Marciano ever produced in his career.
