View Full Version : Stephen Smith forced durable Gethin to retire

After the first round. Think this one fell off the radar in light of the Olympians and DeGale Gate.

Knocking him down twice and opening up a cut.

Surely an excellent prospect.

The better of the Smiths if you ask me, not that I don't think Paul could be World level if he pulled his finger out.

Stephen's a really good prospect, possibly better than the Olympians.

Good win for Smith, Gethin doesn't get stopped very often unlike his record might suggest but it won't be until Smith steps up in class that we will know how good he really is

Gethin's very durable, good win for Smith that.

He did a better job than a certain ****stani Brit and the kids only a featherweight :blurp

He reminds me of a young, orthodox Pacquiao.

Not seen anything of the lad Smith yet but he appears to be another very good talent. I know it is early to predict but we must have some prospects who will do a good job on the world title scene in a few years considering how talented the lads look. Obviously we do not know how good they are going to be but at the moment the lads new to the pro game are shit on and we have a huge batch of them.

:?

Anyway...I agree with Dwilson. There is a good batch of quality youngsters. Not all will come good at the top level, but we should be optimistic a couple will.

Ive been telling folk for some time that Stephen Smith was our best British boxer to come through our ranks, along with probably Frankie Gavin.

I have seen a lot of him as an Amateur and seen a few of his pro fights and he is a very tidy boxer and can hit hard. Hes adapted to the pro game superbly.

The other two Smith boys coming throught the ranks are going to be top notch aswell. Liam and Callum. Potentially better than both Paul and Stephen.

Watch this space. ;)

him and jamie cox for me and the best prospects we have. similar styles aswell, bother very compact, aggressive and work the body well.

Agreed.

I know it's early days but I like the look of Tony Jeffries aswell, looked in very good condition for his pro debut, stiff jab like a Rafael Marquez jab almost, and looks very heavy handed with a good basic 1-2.

I agree with this. Smith and Cox look excellent. These are the most underhyped yet best prospects IMO. Far better than Cleverly (who is actually pretty decent) and Brook.

I agree with Tommy regarding Jefferies too. I thought he was easily the most impressive of any of the amateurs, but of course he's not as fashionable right now. Maybe it will take 5 knockouts in a row to get people really talking about him.
