Hall-of-Famer Roy Jones Jr. has reunited with his father for his upcoming March 21 clash with Omar Sheika. "It's been a delight to have my daddy back in my camp giving me a little tune-up on my skills," Jones stated. "It's probably going to be pretty difficult to beat me, so all of the people that thought they could beat me they probably should have did it before now because now I'm tuning back up and getting my old stuff back." Never one to turn down a challenge, Jones says he still has at least another 2 years of fighting still left in him. Assuming all goes well in his bout with Sheika, Jones is already anticipating his next fight to be an eliminator with former opponent Clinton Woods to determine the mandatory challenger for Chad Dawson's IBF title. "When I get through with Omar Sheika, 9 times out of 10, I'm going to go to England and do battle with Clinton Woods," he continued.

Surely Clinton Woods would jump at the chance of this fight?

He should. Jones is way past best and beatable and it would bring him his biggest payday easily.

He's assuming his next fight will an eliminator to determine the IBF number 1. Clinton just won an eliminator to earn that right.

I'm sure he'd love the fight but Jones won't come over here.

Dawson would KO/TKO Jones... imo

Not really. It's pointless. RJJ needs to retire.

On another note, how did Woods look in his last fight? Did he look better than when he fought Tarver?

Not really...whats the point. I admire Roy Jones' desire to fight and love of the sport...but please..please retire. Your talents at this point belong in the commentary chair.

I'd like Woods to fight the eliminator with Tavoris Cloud.

Sheika has lost 6 of his last ten.

How is Jones getting eliminators/title shots anyway? He himself has lost 4 of his last 7 - in five years - with his three lowly wins being pretty irrelevant to the division.

Because he's Roy Jones Junior.

It's sad but that's the way it goes.

Interesting to note how he says he's back with his dad and rejuvenated. The last time he bought his dad back into the fold was in the build up to the third tarver fight and even then it was uneasy.

Maybe he's back with his dad because every decent trainer doesn't want to work with the shell of an ATG.

I wish Roy would hang them up he has nothing to prove to anyone in boxing. But as long he passes his medicals no one has the right to stop him.

As likable as Woods is, watching him beat a shell of Roy Jones will just piss me off. Woods should chase a rematch with Tarver.

He won't come over here, Woods last fight was in Jersey and without live TV coverage ffs.

Woods has already won an eliminator the other week and no-one in US would want this after performance v Tarver and Jones won't come here so it ain't going to happen.

??? Does anyone reallywant this fight to happen? It already did Clinton was humiliated. Someone needs to contact Jones shrink and inform him that he cant do this anymore. I dont know whats wrong with this guy but it hurts to see him do this to himself for no reason at all.

Woods would probably take the fight as Jones still generates money.I dont know who would win,i just wish Roy would retire.

Yes Jeff I would love this fight to happen. Any chance of seeing any version of RJJ fighting is a great delight and Woods proved in his last fight he has a little left in the tank so why not get himself a great payday and a shot a great name on his record. Having OAP's on your record seems to impress people nowdays. I doubt it will take place in Blighty but if it does I am sure it could be a huge event, especially in Sheffield.

The real version of Roy Jones destroyed and outclassed Woods. If Woods were to beat the current version of Roy, what would that mean or prove to anyone? Not a thing. As much as I like Roy, he is sounding more deluded all the time, he should just retire, reading that just makes me think that he still believes he has 'it' - which is a dangerous thing for a shot to shit fighter to think he has. As for Woods, he was nothing special in his prime, and he is well past it now, but I suppose the best thing for him would be to chase a rematch with Tarver.
Although, I would LOVE to see RJJ come to England.

Nah Calzaghe bummed himself to a payday against an awful RJJ so I really do not mind Woods doing the same. Woods had the bottle to fight a prime RJJ while JC gets appluaded for fighting a shit one knowing that he would have been stopped by halfway against a near prime Jones.

I was about to agree that Woods would UD him now but Woods should have beaten Tarver and collapsed mentally , so I dunno , I really Like Clinton but he blows hot and cold and after the pasting Jones gave him the first time........................who knows , horrible fight tho , two guys who should be retired !

Let me try to put a different spin on this.

If RJJ catches Woods with the same punch (forearm) that he caught Calzaghe with, again in the first round what happens?

Woods doesn't even go down? Is that the right answer?

Well given that a prime jones unloaded every shot in the book(and some that aren't) on woods and Clinton stayed on his feet and kept trying I doubt a shot RRJ puts him down.

Dawson's people will swoop down on Woods first. They will perceive Woods as a much easier option than many others, and justify it too, since he won the eliminator. In the likely case that he loses handily to Dawson, Woods probably won't be offered a Jones fight anymore.

However, if he fights Jones FIRST, and wins, which seems much more likely that defeating Dawson, there is an excellent chance that Dawson vs Woods can still happen on Showtime in the future, and if he knocks out Jones, he will generate some big press, and probably get more money for the Dawson fight, having done what Calzaghe couldn't do and having effectively ended Jones career, probably forever this time (or at least the marketable, still somewhat competitive part of it).

So, I think, the correct decision, if I am handling Woods, is to fight Roy Jones first and then fight Dawson later. He will likely make more money this way.
