View Full Version : Hatton "Beating Barrera is not beyond Khan but i'll be sad to see them both fight"
Ricky Hatton feels that UK lightweight star Amir Khan could be getting rushed into big fights because of the big bucks that will result from pay-per-view.
Khan faces former three-division champion Marco Antonio Barrera on March 14 at the MEN Arena in Manchester.
It marks the third time that Khan will appear on UK-based pay-per-view television.
Hatton still gives Khan a decent shot to beat the more experienced Barrera."Amir got moved on to Sky Box Office a little bit sooner than he should have done and in doing so you have got to fight these people. Perhaps he is fighting these dangermen and big names quicker than he should have done. Having said that it is not like beating Marco is beyond him and Amir is a slight favorite from a size point of view and being fresher.
The key is how much Barrera has left," Hatton told Sky Sports .
Hatton feels a bit divided on the fight. He is close friends with Barrera and considers Amir Khan a good friend as well. He feels the result will be based on how much Barrera has left in the tank."I commend Amir for taking it, but he had to. He is on Sky Box Office and has to fight these people. It is hard for me to make a prediction, but it all depends how much Marco has got left. He looks in good shape. Marco is still in shape, ambitious still, looks up for it and is a clever man. I don't think he would have took it unless he thought he was past it,"
Hatton said."I haven't spoken to Amir or Marco about the fight. Marco and Amir are both friends and whatever the result I will be happy and sad. The last time I was in this position was when Jamie Moore fought Matthew Macklin and it wasn't nice to see. They just knocked ten bell out of each other and the knockout was probably the worst you could see. I was nearly close to tears.

Let's hear the haters fucking moan about this 'nice guy' persona again.
Genuine words from Hatton. Reading between the lines he wants MAB to knock Amir the fuck out though I'd say. He's not alone.

We all love MAB, he is a legend. But this is about a young British boxer who won a silver medal for our country. I'm rooting for Khan but there would be something sweet about MAB proving the doubters wrong AGAIN. I also want Khan to fufil his potential.

For crying out loud, again instead of just giving us his honest appraisal of the fight and a pick he has to relate it to himself, and focus on how he's mates with both 'Marco and Amir'.

Yaah and Amir was calling him out pre-prescott. Then post prescott, Amir is on the hatton show playing darts and acting like darlings.

Was it an official, sanctioned calling out or did Khan just mention he'd like the fight in the future? Either way, I don't see how it would stop them playing darts or remaining civil towards each other?

it was a cheeky comment, nothing fierce, but it all changed after the prescott whipping. Hatton must've hollered at him and spoke to the youngin before inviting him on the show.
Swollocks is Hattons antithesis....

It's not shite Joe though is it.
Your spouting the shite here bro, sorry, but it's true.
Hatton could have given a one word answer - 'Khan' or 'Barrera' - and you/Betty and certain others would be able to write a book on the hidden meanings of what he'd said.
It's a bit silly to be honest. At best it's boring.

so why is Khan fighting at that weight class then?

It's interesting that he says the fight was rather forced for Khan because of SKY ppv demands, which perhaps hints a little bit that Barrera wasn't picked totally by ****** because he was totally done and for the taking.
There is a chance that this fight is rather forced through finance demands... more so than pure hand picking...

Amatuer lightweight is 132 and pro is 135 so he's had 3 llb leeway. Still not much though....

Im not really a big Kahn fan but I dont dislike him, I`ll watch him fight & dont bother one way or another if he wins or loses.... BUT....
I`ll be his biggest fan on march 14th as Barrera is not my cup of tea - no prizes for guessing Im a massive Morales fan then eh ?

Still no excuse. We've talked about this before, but how could a Morales fan want a fighter of Khan's level to beat MAB. I'm disappointed, Butcher.

We HAVE talked before selfkill & I thought I made it clear that even tho I regard Barrera as an ATG fighter, I dont like the guy, I likely wouldnt like him if I wasnt a Morales fan but obviously being a Morales fan makes it worse for me.
You will never catch me disputing his fighting ability but I dont like him so I want him to lose.... I dont want him to become the 1st Mexican to win titles in 4 weights, if he does I`ll take the well deserved abuse but as I told you, I`ll be praying he gets stopped in his quest.

Barreraa may not quite be what he once was but unless he is way gone then he will stop Khan. Khan is always a good shot on the chin from being put down.
