Not an unreasonable assertion. Ranked #3, #8, #15 by the WBO, WBA, and WBC respectively. Couple more wins on a steady track and I'll be willing to say he's made the transition from prospect to contender ready to step up to a titlist.

What a shit fight. What kind of a win is that??? Juan Manuel threw such a big haymaker to the back of the guys head he would Sam Peter proud. I think that was intentional, and cowardly.

One poster said he beat Andrade more convincingly than Bautista did, and others are saying this was sloppy. Was it both? :?

He's a hell of a boxer. Just don't match him up with another Mexican....I'm serious.

Shane Mosley/Vernon Forrest, Shane/Winky Wright Jermaine Taylor/Pavlik etc. He will be back, but he better fight some tune ups to learn how to box better and get some defense. Get a better corner.

He was a very good prospect and has enjoyed success at world level, which is more than most fighters can say.
He simply couldn't take that next step and now has absorbed too much punishment. JuanMa will never be the same, but I respect him and wish him the best.

So much hate, the guy still won world titles in two weights and has been in some wars. hasn't done too bad imo.

Im afraid he wont ever be the same, too much punishment. Cotto was one of the few that has bounced back after beatings, i dont think Juanma has the mental toughness to do what Cotto did, but i hope Im wrong. Wish him the best, exciting fighter.

Let's be real, JuanMa is too stubborn to change his ways. He neglects the most basic skills in boxing, like tucking his chin in and such. The kid has peaked and unless somebody has the power to get into his head, he is done as far as the elite level goes.
Fighters at that caliber know how to expose those kind of weaknesses.

It's amazing how quickly things change. Once one of the brightest young fighters in the sport, and now he's considered done by most. All in the space of what, 4-5 years?

Since they made a thread over him I guess he was a good prospect. He lost to a stud (Salido) big deal. This thread is bunk. Enjoy, peace.

No defense, no speed, no chin, no stamina, average boxing skills, good power, that`s it, i don`t like him.

Agreed... He is in love with the idea of knocking everyone out and has not thought about MAYBE blocking shots and learning to fight.

JuanMa is an exciting fighter who, relatively speaking, has accomplished a lot in this sport. However, he also has a faithful following and a promoter who protected him. The hype surrounding this guy was obviously greater than his actual talent level. I wouldn't call quite call him a hype job, but he's not far off.
