Hearns had that lethal right, but what if John gets to Tommy's chin or body? I don't feel safe betting on this one.

If Mugabi lands it's probably all over, but Hearns win's this fight 9 times out of 10, and early.

Mugabi lost so much of his fire after Hagler, along with the physical damage he took that night.
He really stalked you pre-Hagler, he was impossible to discourage.

Seen the opposition? Apart from Green they weren't good enough to test him. He didn't fight any good level contenders and took a HUGE leap in class fighting Hagler. Enormous power but i personally wonder what would have become of him if he had another 6 - 8 fights against increasingly good (to a point) opposition and rounded out his game. Hagler would have been gone! Then again you wouldn't think he'd end up doing nothing more again in boxing either.

Mugabi too wild and easy to hit from outside...... Mugabi would come out fast against Hearns, but also get nailed trying to get close....... Hearns' jab would keep Mugabi at bay and thinking, and then BOOM Hearns crashes home a smashing right to Mugabi's exposed jaw.... Hearns KO's Mugabi inside of THREE rds........

at MW, let's say the aggresive Hearns that fought Hagler vs. the Mugabi that fought Hagler, Mugabi by K.O by the 10th round.
Mugabi's style is all wrong for Hearns at this weight.
Hearns at JMW that fought Duran vs. the Mugabi that fought Norris....what d'yya think???? Hearns would smash him.

Power would not be the factor here ,it would be Hearns boxing ability ,his jab would break up Mugabi's attack before it could be launched and Tommy could drop his right in behind it ,he had a very effective hook to the body too.Mugabi was a banger ,but stiff legged and Ive allways thought Mickey Duff and George Francis got the best out of him that night with Hagler.Mugabi did hurt his hand in that fight, but he struck me as a good "on top fighter", he would not get to that stage against Tommy ,imo.

Mugabi would wing shots from left and right field, all the while leaving himself wide open for counters.... Mugabi's defense was his offense........ Decent boxers with sharp punches were able to get to Mugabi......
I always thought back in the 80s that John Mugabi was just a hard hitting winger who was carefully matched.... I figured he'd get exposed by either Hearns or Hagler at 154 to 160 pounds.... Well, Mugabi proved tuff, but it took everything out of him......

It would be interesting to see 'The greatest 154lber ever' against the 2 best 154lbers from his era because I'm not sure he beats either, he may beat both but would be interesting

Mugabi was a solid journeyman boxer.
Before Hagler he defeated stacked record fighters.
To his credit he went 10-11 rnds with Hagler.
I think he was a victim of circumstances.(competition wise)

Hearns would stop Mugabi in round one or two. I do not see this fight lasting long at all. And in a way Hearns would have to knock out John in one or two like most guys had to. I just see Hearns landing his punches and Mugabi folding up.

Mugabi too short, too limited, too plodding, and too wide-open to get to Hearns.
Hearns by stoppage within 6. It's just a matter of how much Mugabi can take.

Mugabi was not a guy who could take a lot. He fought a very inactive rusty Hagler, which he why he did well enough. A sharp Hagler would have hit him and knocked him out early.
