Scott Lawton the English lightweight champion is looking for a matchup between himself and British Champ Murray. He compares Murray to Gethin, whom he defeated.

What do you guys reckon on this potential bout?

"He fights a lot like Martin Gethin and I dealt with him fairly comfortably," said Lawton. "He suited the way I box and I think John will suit the way I box as well."

Im not to sure on the outcome but Id hope Lawton could do a job on Murray. Lawton seems like a decent chap, Murray on the other hand..

It's a good match up. I'm all for good traditional domestic match ups. Lawtons comeback after Khan is deserving of such a shot. If Murray isn't making a C'wealth or Euro fight then this is the sort of fight he needs to keep busy.

Agreed. Lawton is still one of the top domestic lightweights and in my opinion deserves his shot. He was beaten by Thaxton in a British title fight in March 07, and then lost to Khan in his next fight. Since then he has won 6 on the bounce including a win over the unbeaten Martin Gethin for the English title.

As much as I would love to see Lawton get another shot at the British title, Murray should really be demanding Hennessey get him a Euro title shot against Mezaache.

People should be fighting over Mezaache. Thaxton, Murray and Khan should be doing everything to make that fight. That fight has W and Euro belt written all over it!

Khan could get it, ****** will offer more easily. But i think Hennessey will have some promotional rights over him. So i see Murray V That French dude happening.

buggo,willie limond has only lost to amir khan in the last 5 1/2 years how on earth does he not get a british title or euro shot? Avoidance

I agree billy, the fight would really get the publics attention. Lawtons a good intelligent fighter though, I'd say he would be able to do what mcallister did... But for a longer period.

Limond is worthy of a shot. He should avoid the WBU and fight for the English title. That way he could be the one fighting Murray.

Murray is built for Lawton. This could be a very tight fight. I can not pick a winner at the moment.

willie would give murry a great fight,i think willie would just be to skillful for john and would do 12 rounds on his head maintaining a high workrate,unlike lee mc allistair who clearly stuggled going the distance

The Scottish title will do fine or an area title. Something traditional to get him in line for a British shot. All credit to Lawton for doing it the good old fashioned way. I hope he gets the Murray fight and gets a decent pay for it.

Think Willie can do a number on him, well skilled boxer, straight line Murray wont have it all his own way.
