In order for zab to get his boxing career back on track he must be parted from yoel judah. Zabs father has maximized his talents but not his son's. Zab need's to man up and get with pernell as a trainer. Pernell has stated publicly (on espn 2) that he would like to train zab, if that doesn't work he sould beg steward to manage him. If not zab will end his career fighting on espn 2 or on best damn sports.

Zab should go with Goosen.
Zabs problem isn't talent or tools, its intangiables. Hes a headcase.
His dads a headcase too and even when he says the right thing the way he says it is a joke.
If Goosen can't get into his head then theres no chance.
Zab admittingly doesn't train like a Mayweather, nor does he have those sort of skills BUT his main problem is mental.

You have to mention physical because he is burned out after 6 rounds.

I don't think he really is. He caves in. If you watch his fights, he just isn't letting his hands go.
Like I said he doesn't train as hard as a Mayweather but when in good shape he is in good shape, especially not to lose to Baldo or Spinks I. Tszyu caught him and Floyd broke hmi down as did Cotto.
He just isn't letting his hands go and he doesn't know what is working for him. He needs Goosen to help him.

He needs someone, I hope people are guiding him away from his pops, who knows interesting to see what happens, to build zabs confidence, the promoters must put at least 2-3 stiffs infront of him before we see any significant movement from his camp.

I think Buddy McGirt will be the best trainer for him.

I think he needs some Wards in front of him again. Guys that he'll fuck up for 8 rounds but will still be there TRYING to win even if they don't. Get Zab using his head down the stretch of the fight.

Judah no longer fights because he wants to win boxing matches, he fights for money. He is not salvageable as a fighter. Let him stay with his dad who is probably the worst trainer in boxing. Joel throws more punches in the corner when hes talking to Zab then Zab throws in the entire fight.

But wasn't Baldo supposed to be one of those guys?
ah man this calls for the job of a master "George Benton" but only if he is still alive and training :D

i agree w/ you lefthook he isn't in there to win , he's there to get paid , it looks like whenever zab can't get the guy out of there within 4 rounds he mentally quits , i don't think that will change untill zab gets hungry again , if he ever does

I think brendan Ingle owuld work well for him. He would teach him to use head movement and defense.
Ingle has worked with alot of southpaws like Prince Naz and Junior Witter and made champs out of them so Judah would be a natural.

This is true. This is why Zab needs to come back fresher and go back to what he used to do. I remember him quite tired against Ward but still throwing punches and bagging rounds.
The major thing to note is he has to use his head, this is where Goosen comes in.
Zabs dad is a mess in the corner. I agree with what he says but he just screams it. He has no idea of when to be calm, when to get serious etc
"ZAB, THIS MUTHA FUCKA CAN'T TAKE IT, ONE-TWO, ONE-TWO-THREE, HEAD, BODY, HEAD, ZAB YOU GOT TO LISTEN TO ME, THIS GUY HASNT GOT A FUCKING CHANCE WHEN YOU TAKE IT TO HIM, HES TIRED"
Its like that from round one and its laced with lies, even if he is right that Zab should let his hands go.
Ultimately Zab and his father need to change their way together.
Everyone knows how to beat Zab. Pressure him, ride the first few rounds and then he implodes and stops punching. Then you can bag all the rounds en route to a stoppage or decision.

In one or two rounds, I'd make a bet that this was true. Sometimes Joel may throw a good 20 shots and you got to doubt how many Zabs thrown.

zab's father had a chance to prove he was a good trainer when he suprisingly took on mayorga. Now mayorga is no pugilist by any means but look at where his career has gone since his dealings with the judah posse. I don't know how the elite commentator's miss the opportunity to critique yoel judah . I mention this because you hear lamply's lame ass say things like, father trainers try to protect there son's in the ring when the going gets rough. Other father son tandom's that have been pointed out in the past are.
1. roy jones
2. shane mosley
3. tito trinidad
so my question is why is yoel judah getting a pass ? they should expose him for the fake that he is. His kickboxing experience doesn't translate well to the sweet science.

Is he coaching Mayorga? Mayorga is the sour science.

Yoel Judah is an under-rated trainer. He actually cares about all of his fighters

Man I would be so happy if he did change trainers. He would be a hell of a gatekeeper for the WW division. He would be a contender at 140.
I think you are dead on. The ENTIRE Judah clan has the same gassing issue. I, like you, think it is a training issue. Then again it could be genetic.

You are right. He is still a great trainer. He just has taken Zab as far as he can. Zab needs to move on.

Judah has mental problems, that is where his problems start and finish. If he wasn't a moron he would probably be just as successful as Mayweather if not more so.

he was with lewis??:yikes
as for the thread i agree with most people's points, zab has the talent but not the intangibles but there's still time. he's surprisingly young and still fresh. he needs a trainer that can get the most out of him. my thoughts are (and I know people will disagree):
1)teddy atlas-make or break trainer for him but if they mesh, teddy gets the heart and soul from his fighters
2)hector roca-fuck, zab is already in brooklyn. hector has a great understanding of the fundamentals and a soft spoken, subtle way of motivating
3)sweet pea-would be the greatest trainer/fighter story if it works

It's frustrating because Zab has all the skills in the world but he isn't mentally disciplined to utilize them. I like him as a fighter but he needs to realize that him and his dad are getting stale like Shane and his dad did. Zab needs a new start and regain the hunger that once made him a top fighter. Even if he retires he has nothing to be ashamed of as far as resume (Floyd, Clottey, Cotto, Ward, Tzuyu, Spinks twice). It's just that he could be more. I hope he gets to the top and get titles again.
That'll be all

Yeah, at least for the Cotto fight. There was a documentary on HBO called Assault in the ring and in their interviews with Panama it's in there that he's training Zab and doing just fine even though he can't technically get into the corner for him because he's banned. But he's free to train people and make money and wear bling. Wutta bastard.

Floyd Mayweather Sr. is the perfect trainer for Zab Judah and was training him for the canceled Judah/Mosley fight. Judah needs to hook up with him again.

I agree Judah needs a new trainer and perhaps even a whole new team. Zab has great skills, but you could easily tell his surroundings have been a big distraction. Every minute counts while training for a fight and Zab perhaps took for granted his skills and talent.
