Is anyone slightly getting a bit tired of Ricky Hatton? The cheeky chappy, “one of the lads” thing was indearing at first but now im wondering if its starting to wear thin.
Continually talking in 3rd person is really annoying, plus all this nonsense about fighting for the P4P title is draining. He is doing allot of personal appearances, he has lots celebrity friends hanging around pre and post fight which isnt good. Plus if Steve Bunce is to be beleived, Mayweather Snr wanted Hatton in Vegas 8 weeks before the fight but Ricky is insisting on going just 4 weeks before.
Its just frustrating because it has all become very much like Rocky 3

I think you'll find some have been annoyed for a long time. Personally, I'm not too bothered by his attitude, or how he speaks.

Nah....not in the greater scheme of things.
Didn't we have this post about a week ago. Seriously, all it is lately is Khan or Hatton bashing.

I went past that stage about a year ago, I try not to listen to any of the drivel that comes out of his (or his dad's for that matter) mouth, just watch the boxing and stay away from the interviews

A huge proportion of us hate the third person crap mixed in with the 'humble, down to earth' act.

Yea really annoyed a British/English boxer is willing to take on the P4P no1 - hotest property in boxing at the moment - in his prime. Simply terrible.

I think if you are annoyed by someone who you have never met or spoken to in your whole life then you are either jealous or have an attitude problem.
(not aiming that at you Healy :hey )
Although I hate Alan Carr and I have never met him :nono I guess I have an attitude problem with over the top camp batty boys.
But to answer your question - no, a slightly thick relatively down to earth northerner isnt starting to annoy me.

Nah, he's a great guy and everyone loves him....really genuine like De La Hoya. A very modest man who hates attention and only rarely treats himself to a private jet, chocolate bar, exec. box at Man City, carribean cruise etc etc.
less annoying than black posts on black backgrounds.

Jealousy just oozes out of that statement:yep
Aren't you happy in your spartan white room complete with Morales/Pacquiao painting, just waiting for the next Hatton quote to jerk off over and then in a fit of self loathing you come on here to slag him off some more?
I know strap some gloves on and go and fight for money, see if you can earn some of that money it might ease the pain.
I'm sure he is a nice guy but in the media he's an arrogant tosser that plays up to his "fans". To the OP, I think you are not alone, 50% of the forum acknowledge this.

As an aussie first time poster on your British site I should hate the bloke for what he did to our champ Kostya, but the truth is, the more I see of him, the more there is to admire.
He talks a good fight, then goes out and delivers. The bloke ducks nobody and following the Mayweather defeat didn't spend every waking hour screaming to the press with excuses.
If he wants to talk in the third person I say, good onya mate, go your hardest.
He's just the sort of bloke we'd love to claim as an Aussie.
As for the Ricky V Manny bout!
Manny the better technical boxer, Ricky too strong at that weight and should be able to out tough Manny as the fight wears on.
Just my opinion for what its worth.

Hatton is a very shrewd businessman as well as a boxer. He talks in third person to get his brand out there constantly. "Ricky Hatton".
He talks about a "pound for pound title" to appeal to football fans that watch Sky, who have a vague interest in boxing, but support UK fighters.

If any of you ever meet Hatton he is one of the most down to earth people you could ever meet. When out of training he still comes in he local boozers and will have a laugh and a joke and talk with everyone and anyone.
When you meet him he never speak 3rd person he just does that when he is talking about his fans. Ricky is a gent and a top man.

Nice one Julian:good that seems to be the reasonable way of seeing things but some Brits will back someone travelling from a far away land against their own.
It's kinda like me backing Brazil over England, just because Brazil are Legends are entertaining.
When Katsidis fought Casamayor or Diaz did the Aussies support him?
I mean Michael isn't exactly humble is he but he's a great warrior, entertaing and one of your boys.
I really enjoy watching him fight but if he fought Amir i'm backing Khan.
There's something strangely wrong about a Brit wearing a Pac-Man flag and cheering him on to K.O Ricky....
Not really.
One could easily have been a big fan of Pacquiao for years and enjoy his style in the ring far more than Hatton.
Boxing is not primarily about nationality. This ain't the Olympics.
No of course the greater fighter wins in the Ring i.e Cotto whooped Michael Jennings.
I am a Cotto fan and enjoy his style far more than Michaels but come fight night I was was rooting for Michael Jennings.
It would have felt very strange cheering on Cotto to beat his ass.
I just imagine the Aussies to have more national loyalty to their sportsmen....I could be wrong.

G'day Guy,
When it comes to not supporting your own national fighter you blokes in Britain don't have the monopoly.
There's plenty here that don't mind bagging our own fighters but thankfully it usually comes from the half wit brigade that wouldn't know a left hook from a fish hook.
As far as Katsidis goes, he gets plenty of support here and the general feeling is that, yes he is cocky, but he hasn't yet crossed over that line into outright arrogance.
Sure hope he dosen't.
He's got plenty of heart, but I can see him getting out boxed by someone with Khan's skills.
I mean after all I should know!
I'm the bright spark that had plenty on Kostya to stop Ricky inside 6 rounds.

I would imagine Billy Dib would not be one of your (ie: Australians) most popular fighters, would I be right?

Fair do's mate  it's good to know good old sports crazy Oz has it's mix of negativity and we're not the only ones :good
Bad luck on the Kostya bet, I've only ever bet on Joe Calzaghe and always won! Now my dead cert has gone i'm too scared to bet on boxing.
I could never bet on Hatton v Pacman, it's just tempting fate!
Over the next couple of fight s maybe Khan could fight Katsidis and it would be a good match up of Brawler v Boxer.Khan would have to stay on his toes though cause Michael punch a bit!:scaredas:

The only thing that scares me about Katsadis-Khan is that funny left hook Kats throws. Its laced with power. It would KO Khan into oblivian. Skill wise there's no comparison and I don't think Kats has got the boxing brain to employ decent tactics. It will just be a hit and hope job.

D-MAC and Guy
It would be fair to say Billy Dib dosen't have a huge following here but he's sure milking the Golden Boy connection for all it's worth.
Twice in the last 12 months Shane Mosely has been here supporting him so maybe he can see something there that most of us can't. Time will tell I suppose.
Without doubt our most controversial boxer here would be Anthony Mundine who would be about as popular as a fart in a spacesuit.
Here's a bloke who really believes that knocking over a succession of Argentinian nobodys along with our own crew of has beens, has had the likes of Welsh Joe, Kelly Pavlic, and every other worthy champion shaking in their boots.
But in saying that, for a country of about 20 million I reckon we've produced our fair share of world class scrappers.
