Looks like he is going to try and pick up another belt in an attempt to build his image a bit. Looks like after that he wants to move onto world level. The article says he'll be ringside for Dunne-Cordoba and wants to fight Dunne if he wins. His manager dosn't take the same line as Maloney that it will be the last fight of Dunne's career :D
It's in Sunderland which has pissed me off because I really wanted to go to his next fight and that is a fair journey. The card will also feature Jamie Moore in a defence of his European belt, Williams-McDermott 2 (the excitement is killing me) and Tony Jeffries.
All on Saturday May 2 and Hatton Pac will be later on in the night, what a night of boxing if all these fights happen :D

I've been waiting for Dunne vs Munroe for a while now but what better way for them to face off than in a World Title fight.
Bernard has it all to do though as Cordoba is no mug and has beaten some good fighters including Celestino Caballero a few years back.
Cordoba actually offered this fight to Munroe first but for whatever reason he turned it down.
It's all up to Dunne now and with 9000 screaming him on come Saturday night i really hope he can pull it off.

munroe should fight someone up near the top 10 region, id say fuck the commonwealth the european strap is good enough although the level in europe is quite low compared to other weights,
after seeing bernard dunne today i think munroe should stay at home and not come to dublin for saturday night, dunne already looks badly weight drained (time of writing is wednesday), i think his chances of winning are 20%

Munroe needs to stop with the bins... and get a World Title Elimantor asap !!
A comonwealth belt is a waste of time, If Munroe did turn Cordoba down... then i'm pretty dissapointed

I think the European belt is good but having 2 straps will boost his profile. Fighting on the Hatton ppv will be massive for him as well. For me it's all about the opposition, if he is fighting someone who will actually be a decent test I don't mind but given it's the commonwealth that's unlikely. I just want to see him showing some signs of improvement but like people say, it might be time he gives up the bins.
I really want Dunne to win, the fight would be really big for both guys and a great fight. Hopefully he isn't weight drained.

He did, Maloney even said so on Bunce's show, after Cordoba's management had already mentioned on Irish radio that he did. Maloney said there's no point fighting for a World title until Munroe can win it, and that Dunne's World title fight will be the last fight of his career.
Munroe might aswell pick up the British and Commonwealth titles before he faces Maludrottu in about 9 months time. The guys he's fought at European level(bar possibly Martinez), haven't been as good as the likes of Matthew Marsh anyway.

Sorry to spoil the party, but Bernard Dunne isn't going to beat Ricardo Cordoba, so Munroe will need to find an alternative route to a world title.

Maloney is pretty chicken shit if you ask me. Taking pops at Dunne while at the same time he hasn't the balls to stick Munroe in with Cordoba if the Panamanian wins the fight. Quite the fucking big man there Maloney. You had the chance to take on Cordoba and knocked it back then he has the gaul to take a swipe at the man who decided to step up to the plate.
Dunne is horribly weight drained and I expect him to get stopped early. His new strength and conditioning coach/nutritionist team seem to have fucked up badly. He was an underdog to begin with but his hopes are non existent now.
I think Munroe needs to step it up. Quit the day job, up the level of opposition and start sniping around the fringes of world class and see how he goes. Don't think the commonwealth title is a big step forward or anything but it will at least keep him active. Time to step it up in class though I reckon. 28 isn't old but you can't wait forever to start making a move up

How does everyone know Dunne is so badly weight drained ?
I expect if Munroe could afford to give up the bins he would. He has also said numerous times it really helps his fitness, he says he sets quite a pace on his round lifting lots more than the other guys. Then goes training.

As long as he isn't gun shy (I think he killed someone) Cordoba will spark Dunne.

Yeah, Marsh should be Munroe's next fight. Would be an exciting fight, no doubt, but I think Munroe's body shots will be the deciding factor.

Munroe ability wise is still domestic standard. The superbatam division in Europe is pretty awful at the moment so he is lucky to have the belt and does not need to be pushed into a huge fight against Cordoba. Munroe needs a few more build up fights against better opposition. I think he is on the right track but yep he needs to quit the bins.

Not sure if this totally true but dd'nt Dunne have some serious outside the ring issues wrong with him at the time of the Martinez loss? I am never one to make excuses for a fighter and the issues were of his own making but hopefully that result was a blip.
If the lad still has weight making issues then he should stop fucking about and move up in weight.
