View Full Version : Are you going Vegas?

Me and my boys are close to booking tickets. Payday is on Friday!!!
Haye has had to take a back seat but I'm sure he'll understand, I need the cash for Vegas. Whats funny is he may have more chance of winning but if Ricky wins and I'm there, it's something I'll tell my grandkids about.
So Vegas for 10 days - here I come!
Head count:
Me, Scrappy and one more mate.
Hitman_Hatton and one mate.
TAM83 on his lonesome.
GazOC and three mates.
stuey and one mate.
Versastyle and two mates.
BaronBrad and ???.
Jersey Joe and ???.
GazOC

Yep, me and 3 mates will be there but we could only get enough time off work for 5 nights/ 6 days. Shame really as the hotels are pretty cheap in the week, it doesn't cost much to extend your visit.

The Hatton site says priority for tickets from their allocation will be given to people who have travelled aboard to watch Ricky before (fair enough) so if you've havn't done that getting them direct from the MGM might be the best bet.

That's what I'm thinking, the only downside is you won't be in with the Hatton fans.
GazOC
08-22-2007, 06:31 PM
There anrn't going to be any other type of fans....;)
I'm pretty sure they arn't segregating the fans in any case, I'm sure I read that on the hatton site as well.

Sayin that though the 10,000 that went to the Castillo fight that was probably their summer holiday. With it being so close to Christmas, although it's a bigger fight, might be fewer fans flying over.

Went to Castillo and have booked the flights and hotel for Mayweather. Only going to 3 nights this time.
I'm interested to see how the priority seats will work as they are yet to announce anything. I'd rather buy from ticketmaster as the UK outlet seems a little mickey mouse.
I did want to see Haye fight but it is a shame that the two fights are so close together.

Your best bet is to get a map of Vegas off Google, then get a list of hotels and just price up the bookings. All the Vegas hotels seem to have the same software for you to get an estimate of the cost and its really easy to use..a 2 minute job.
If you havn't booked the flight yet you may be better off getting a package deal. I saved over 150 quid per person on 5 nights at the MGM by getting a package.

No mate just flight and hotel but separately the cost came to around 800 pp, together they came to 630 but that includes 40 to get to Amsterdam for the connecting flight.
The prices I was getting for a guaranteed ticket where obscene, even booking just the flights/ hotel through a sports trip firm (ie. something thats easy enough to do yourself) was adding 200 quid to the price!!
In the end I got the exact package a sports firm were offering for 999 for 630 but I've got that one extra connection to Amsterdam....

I paid £640 for 7 nights in the MGM flying from London via Philly. We should all go for a few beers at the main bar in the MGM (The Centifrudge i think) and then to studio 54 its quality in there.

Thats not the proper price, its just chancers trying to find mugs. They pre-book the tickets, inflate the price and sell them on.
They're ticket touts with a website, nothing more!

Does anyone have an exact time when they go on sale? and will it be synchronised with tickets in the USA? I mean if we miss out on the british tickets and stay up for the American sale or vice versa. Or if they go at the same time it's a case of picking what company and hoping for the best?
An exact time will be helpful as well.

Hatton in ticket storm
Ricky Hatton says he is "gutted" that 10,000 of his fans could be left ticketless in Las Vegas for his showdown with Floyd Mayweather Junior.
American promoters Golden Boy have indicated that they will only release 3,900 tickets for British fight fans, and the Hitman has urged his handlers to do everything in their power to land an increased allocation.
Hatton's own company Punch Promotions estimates that as many as 13,000 fight fans may already have booked flights and accommodation to the desert city for the December 8 clash, and there are fears that the size of the allocation could lead to a black market bonanza.
There is already talk of the £500 seats which make up 70 per cent of the arena going for up to £10,000 for a fight which could cement Hatton as a genuine boxing legend, as he takes on a fighter regarded by many as one of the best pound-for-pound boxers in history.
Hatton learned of the allocation during a brief business trip to Spain, and urged his dad and agent Ray Hatton to do all he could to secure more tickets. In his last appearance in Vegas, in June, Hatton was supported by around 9,000 British fight fans in a crowd of 13,000.
"I have never seen Ricky more gutted than he is about this," Ray told the Manchester Evening News, who is still hoping to get Golden Boy to reconsider the allocation.
"We have already asked them if we can send some of the more expensive $1,000 tickets back in exchange for more of the cheaper tickets, but we are still awaiting an answer.
"Ricky has asked us to do whatever it takes to get more of his fans out there, but it isn't that easy, unfortunately.
"It's an absolute nightmare for all of us, because we want to get as many fans out there as possible."
The only response from the American promoters so far is to suggest that a nearby venue could be rigged up with closed circuit TV showing the fight live to 6,000 fans, which would be scant consolation for those left without tickets.
Punch Promotions requested 10,000 tickets but the capacity of the MGM Grand hotel's Garden Theater was originally set at 16,800.
It is believed that Golden Boy have now reduced that figure to 15,150, a third of which will go to the MGM Grand itself - the casino uses them to entice high-rollers during the fight weekend.
Of the remaining tickets, Golden Boy will keep 2,350 and Mayweather wants 3,900.
Hatton's camp have been warning Golden Boy for some time that demand in Britain would be huge. The Americans were taken aback at the size of Hatton's following in June.
That led to a round of intense negotiations about the venue for the Mayweather fight, which is bound to create much more interest in the US, and at one stage it was being mooted that it could be switched to the bigger Staples Center basketball arena in Los Angeles.
But the MGM Grand won the fight to stage the contest, and now it is feared that it could become a touts' paradise.
Events coordinator Michael Meadowcroft said: "The Americans are saying they want the same kind of atmosphere that the British fans provided at the Thomas and Mack Center in June, but now they appear to have given up on that idea.
"They told us about the closed circuit idea, but we have said that people won't want to fly all the way to Vegas to sit in a picture house."

I live in the States though; so I could possibly deal with Ticketmaster a bit easier than you guys can from Britain; but do you have to buy the tickets from MGM at the MGM before the fight? That's bullshit; or are they already on sale and you just stop by and pick them up when you're in Vegas on one of the many trips I'm sure British men take to Vegas? :patsch It really does sound like they're trying to keep Ricky's fans in check.

All you sonsabitches are gonna be one awfully disappointed bunch.
According to ITV Sports website, fans wanting to see Hatton fight Maymeather must apply for tickets via a postal ballot!
Apparently Hattons father is trying to secure more tickets for Rickys fans but the enormous demand coupled with the disappointing allocation means British fans wanting to apply for tickets must write too!
Ballot will take place later this month.
Tickets will go on sale next Monday (17th).
Maximum 2 tickets per application.
Priority given to fans who have attended Hattons other fights in USA.

Yep, theres no way I missed the start of the sale by more than 10 - 15 seconds and they were still all gone.
I tried for packages around 5 past six and they were all gone too. I wonder just how many tickets Ticketmaster released for general sale?

I've bought some as 'back up'. The WillCall just means you pick them up yourself from the venue.

Just be carefull the CCTV doesn't sell out, its going to be 'Plan B' for an awful lot of Hatton fans who already have flights booked. For $50 a pop you could buy one 'just in case' and then sell it on in Vegas if you find a fight ticket at a decent price.
If HBO black out Vegas for the fight even the CCTV tickets are going to be hard to find.

Tells me he's buying them off a third party site after you've bought them off him and sending them on.
Farsical the way its been handled.

The annoying aspect is the fact companies are buying the tickets in bulk and selling them on for silly money. $27,000 for a ringside ticket is beyond a joke. GBP have gone down in my estimation following this.

alledgedly 35,000 CCTV tickets will be available
According to ITV Sports website today, the MGM will set up approx.
50,000 seats for big screen coverage in their other Las Vegas hotels.
Tickets will be approx. £100 and most will go to brits as Hattons team said 15,000 fans have already booked accomodation and flights for the weekend of the fight.
