I was reading an interview with Lopez that he had with Shawn Murphey (of The sweet Science). during the interview he answers who his toughest opponent was and he responds:

(SM) Who was the toughest guy you ever fought?

(TL) A guy named Sammy Espinosa. He kicked my butt for nine rounds and all
but thirty seconds of the tenth. In the tenth I got lucky, hit him with a hook
and knocked him out cold. Molina was good too, but this guy was tough. I
fought Espinosa again a few months later and knocked him out early.

The problem is he KO'd Sam Espinosa in the 4th rd of his 10th fight. But in none of the previous 9 fights did he fight this gentlemen...nor have a fight go 10 rds? Does he mean Pedro Nolasco who he fought 3 years after Espinosa and scored a 10th rd KO followed 2 months later by an 8 rd KO (although I would not call that early as he did?)...or is there a missing fight in his record? Espinosa's as well as his record does not indicat a 2nd fight either?

Either Tony has taken a few to many to the head or boxrec is off which it often can be.

Id say it is probably boxrec..great site but you cant expect every record to be perfectly kept.

this is true but I cant find any evidence of it elsewhere either...I looked before posting

Maybe it is Tony stuffing up then..Nolasco seems to fit the bill. He bronzed at the Olympics, so he seems to be the kind of talent that could do that to Tony.

Sammy just looks like your average novice according to his record.
