Title: "Im no Stay at home fighter"

Out of 43 professional fights 41 have been in England/Wales/Your backyard and 2 were in another country.
No stay at home fighter....:-(:huh Interesting.

Well nearly the same can be said of Kessler - 39 fights - 37 in Denmark. Kessler took a more risky fight and earlier in his titlereign, but the numbers are much the same.

It fairly natural - both fighters are big draws in their homeland, so the best money is nearly always "at home" - they both have belts, so they don't have to go abrod to get them.

so calzaghe has fought in 5 countries and should have fought in more is what you are saying ?

calzaghe also cleared out his domestic opposition and fought all the best of his own rivals.

calzaghe won tournaments as an amatuer overseas.

fought for a world title after 20 odd fights.

which boxer specifically do you think calzaghe should have faced overseas in a country he had not boxed in.?

You are aware Calzaghe ain't English?

Well to many ppl outside the UK it probably matters as little if a UK resident if from Wales or England as it matters if a german fighter is from Bavaria or Berlin.

I know that technically britain has chosen to uphold certain historic boundaries and make a point about it. Thats fine. Do it whichever way you like. But forgive us for not seeing the big deal from the outside.

So at the end of the day Calzaghe will probably not get much credit from outside the UK, for "fighting abroad", if "fighting abroad" just means fighting a few miles from home in the M.E.N areana or other UK locations.

All that said, neither fighter has much to let the other hear about being a hometown fighter. In both caes they have a solid following in their respective countries - and it's hardly surpricing the want something real good to lure them away from that.

I just hope this time something will actually come of all the talk. I've been as sceptical about the fight ever getting made as anyone - but finally there seems to be real hope it might come off.
Then i dont give a rats ass if it's done in Wales, England, Shetland islands, Denmark, Faeroe islands or USA for that matter. If it makes more financial sense to do it in Wales - good. But then ****** would have to share some of all that money.

Just make the fucking fight happen SOMEWHERE.

Well for this part I have to agree with you. In fact it is not that easy for a Euro fighter to get a fight in the USA. Besides Calzaghe has probably been able to raise more money in Wales than any of his opponents has been able to in theirs.

PBF, Taylor, or any american star would probably want 15 mill USD for figting in Europe... so.. I cant say that this is really an issue but quite normal. The fights are where the money are. Thats simple.

God you talk a load of fucking old bollocks. This would be like me attempting to tell you that the Netherlands,Greenland, Iceland, Sweden, Switzerland and Denmark were all just the same fucking place and who gives a shit.

The fact that the Normans, Celts, Germanics and Gauls all lived in the British Isles before the Saxon invasion and the fact that each of the countries, Scotland, Wales, Ireland and England are completely different in terms of currency, culture and history - you're a fucking retard

Lets ignore the fact that Joe fought for Italy in the amateurs and focus on the Welsh part of his background

As Kessler him fucking self said "I'm more English than Joe"

Attempting to tell us that the UK should all be just one big country is fucking stupid.

If you've ever been to an Irish vs English boxing match, you'll know why.

"Fucking retard" you call me ehh?

Oh well it's what I've come to expect from you.

Anyway. Differences between English and Welsh are NOT at all any more outspoken than differences between different ppl in a number of european countries - you are just more aware of the differences within the UK.
Just think of the Flemmsh and Wallone population in Belgium, The Bask and the Spanish. Sami ppl in northers Scandinavia. Russian/estonian in Estonia or the entire Balkans region if you want it even more grotesque. With these places in mind - how can you still maintain the UK is so bloody unique?
I'm well aware that from a NZ perspective, british history would take up two thirds of a book writen on the history of Europe. But try broughtening your perspective a bit.

Only diff. between Uk situation and so many other situations is that brits have had so little to fight about lately they've had to make football and rugby teams for each "nation" in order to maintain the illussion there's a difference.

You also forgot to add that one of very few things Calzaghe and Kessler have done that are comparable is participate in the European Youth Championships.

Only ONE of them WON.

I wonder who?
