Well not really telling anyone anything new but it's basically been made official.

I for one can say I'm looking forward to it. Mundine finally stepping it up (I know its not Kelly Pavlik but its not Daniel Pablo Zamora Nieva or Jose Alberto Clavero either is it) and its definitely Daniel Geales hardest test. If he really does want to fight a guy like Abraham we would want to defintely get through a guy like Mundine first.

Anthony is 33 and his brithday is May 21st, so he will enter the ring as a 34 year old. Geale is 28, probably just entering his athletic prime. Will make a prediction close to the fight.

You know as well as I do that Mundine will handle Geale in similar fashion to how he's handles his past few opponents.

However, it's a good risk/reward fight for Mundine, as I believe Geale poses not a whole lot more risk than guys like Taylor, Neivis, etc, yet Mundine will gain some sort of respect for it.

Taylor is a washed up Welterweight crackhead, Geale is a Commenwealth gold medalist and undefeated pro. Sound very similar dont they .

Not saying they are very similar, just that I don't think Mundine will have much more of a harder time than he had with guys like Taylor, Hamden, etc.

Geale has fought nobody yet. It's easy enough to keep your losses to 0 when you continue to fight nobodies too.

Unlike you, I'm basing my prediction and outcome of the fight from what I've seen from both fighters, and even though Mundine seems past it a bit, he should still be too much for a novice, solid domestic fighter like Geale.

:patsch.....anyway what venue?

Cant find anything relating to the venue.... If Khodder is doing the promotion, then be expectant of nothing better than a High School Hall.

Why the hell is this bout in QLD for anyway?????? Geales team should have dictated every part of this promotion, from locality to price of beer.
THe fight should have been staged in Tassie for a start. Everything Marcus says, suggests Geale would draw a great crowd. I wonder if fan based reprisals have scared Team Khodder away? Khodder is a maggot.

Hopefully we find out the exact location soon. Will be there with ya Ash.

Brisbane Convention Centre

So... its better to 1/2- 3/4 fill a venue in Brisbane????

Promoted accordingly in Tassie, you'd have to imagine 12,000-15,000 pretty easily????

Have I had too many bourbans to speculate those figures???

The Tennis Centre is near me and I've always thought it would make a good venue for a boxing event. Let's hope it gets considered.

Actually a quick search on the net informs me the Tennyson Tennis Centre can hold 7000 in the centre court stadium. Whether a boxing event would allow for more (ringside tables, etc) or 7000 could just be the max number for safety reasons. Not bad though..

Anthony Mundine is talking up his chances of beating Tasmania's Daniel Geale when the pair meet in the ring for the first time.
Geale, 28, is the IBO world middleweight title holder.
He is expected to fight Mundine for the title in Brisbane in late May or early June.
Mundine, who is in Hobart for a Victorian bushfire fundraiser, says he will be too good for Geale.
"He's a good fighter but these boys can't beat me. No matter who it is they can't beat me," he said.
"I think he's going to have a good future but, as long as I'm in the division, I'm getting ready to clean everybody's house out, you know what I mean."

EVER-CONFIDENT Anthony Mundine pulls no punches about who will reign supreme in his bout with Daniel Geale.
The 33-year-old former rugby league star touched down in Hobart yesterday, ahead of his appearance alongside Melbourne underworld figure Mick Gatto last night. The pair were guest speakers at a benefit for the Red Cross Victorian bushfire appeal at Hobart Function and Conference Centre.
Earlier this week Geale and former coach Greame George declared Mundine was ripe for the picking but yesterday the outspoken Mundine played down the Tasmanian's chances.
Despite Geale -- the IBO world middleweight champion -- being undefeated in 21 fights (including 13 wins by knockout), Mundine declared he was still the best in the business.
After nutting out the final details, Geale and Mundine will meet in Brisbane on May 27.
"He is a good fighter, but these boys can't beat me. It doesn't matter who it is, they can't beat me," Mundine said.
"I think he is going to have a good future but now I'm in his division I'm getting ready to beat everyone.
"A lot of people have talked before, and have not delivered.
"But that's something I do do. I talk and I deliver, and I will deliver once again.
"I will take his belt, that's part of the middleweight division and I want to unify the whole division and be undisputed champion. This is the first fight and first belt for that quest."
Well known for his reputation outside the ring over his controversial statements and taunting of opponents, Mundine acknowledged he would not be taking the 2002 Commonwealth Games gold medallist lightly.
But with his own record standing at 35 wins (23 KO) and three losses, he is confident he can be the first to blemish Geale's perfect record.
"He will be defeated, that's no doubt. I am the man, and he knows what he is in for.
"All these fighters, they are fans of me. They want to be like me, the way I fight, the way I conduct myself in and out of the ring and it's going to be a pleasure for him to be in the ring with me.
"But I can't take away the fact he is a champion and he is undefeated and I have to give him that respect."

Mundine's next bout may be Aussie swansong
By Laine Clark

March 31, 2009 12:00am

OUTSPOKEN former world champion Anthony Mundine says his next fight could be his last in Australia, casting doubt over a re-match with Danny Green.

Mundine (35 wins, 3 losses) announced today he would take on underrated IBO middleweight champion Daniel Geale (21-0) in his first fight in Brisbane on May 27. But he also cast his eye further into the future, claiming he had "big fish to fry'' in boxing.

And Green was "not a priority''. The outspoken Mundine said he would concentrate on the likes of world champions Felix Sturm (WBA), Kelly Pavlik (WBC, WBO) and Arthur Abraham (IBF) after "disposing'' of former Olympian Geale.

"It's going to an historic night - it's going to be my third world title and this might be my last fight in Australia,'' Mundine said of the upcoming bout. "Because after this there is nothing but big fish to fry. I am willing to travel overseas, take a pay cut, just to show the people what I can do, who I am.''

Mundine said his management were already on the verge of securing a "big, major fight''.

"After I win this title, which I will, all I want is champions,'' he said. "I don't want to mess around with contenders, I just want champions. Whether it's Pavlik, whether it's Abraham, whether it's Sturm - give me one of them.''

After Green ended his 11-month retirement, it was believed his re-match with Mundine would be held early next year. Mundine enjoyed a unanimous points victory over Green at super middleweight in Sydney three years ago.

But Mundine all but dismissed taking on Green again, saying he would only consider a re-match if there was an offer that made him "rub his hands together''.

"He's not a priority,'' Mundine said. "My goal is to become the undisputed middleweight champion of the world. Unless they give me a figure that will make me rub my hands together then scratch his name off.

"Believe it or not, money doesn't inspire me. What inspires me is my goals and my dreams. But I've been there and done that (with Green), so the only thing that is going to inspire me for that fight is the money - at the end of the day this is a business.''

Mundine was also irked that Green had demanded a re-match be held in Perth. "I don't know why he is dictating terms because I am the one that whipped his arse last time,'' he said. "I am the one he built his name off. So for him to say all these things is outlandish.

"But he knows who he has to see to make money.''

Mundine said he would be focussing on big name bouts in the future because he was nearing the height of his powers. "I can't see anyone beating me in the next four, five years in the middleweight division,'' he said.

Sydney-based Tasmanian Geale is a 2002 Commonwealth Games gold medallist.

Credit to Geale and Mundine for finally stepping up and fighting each other rather than fighting journeyman like they have done in recent years.I will be very surprised if Mundine doesn't win a comfortable UD, something like 116-112. Imo Geale doesn't have the power, pressure, experience, chin to seriously be able to defeat Mundine. I would much rather have seen Mundine fight an established fighter at world level such as Sturm, but i will settle for a Geale matchup.

One thing that stands out with Geale's record is that he has never fought anyone with a losing record.

Very rare.
