Corbett, Holyfield.

Holyfield was stopped due to an accumulation of both head and body though.

I love this new tack from Lewis fans. ANYTHING to try to downgrade Evander and pump yer guy up, hmmm?

Sorry, nobody's buying. Particularly considering that unlike Lewis when he was blasted out by journeymen, Holyfield was 40 years old and WELL past his prime!! And Toney in an ATG fighter, not some ordinary palooka.

Lewis was a pretty good heavywieght but he never beat a great hevywieght that was in his prime like holyfield did in his second fight against bowe

"Blown up middleweight", fuck off with that.

These Lewis fans are continually grasping at straws to "prove" their man is greater than Evander Holyfield - despite the fact that you never saw Holy get blasted out early by ordinary fighters when he held the title. Heck, you never saw him get blasted out early AT ALL!!!:yep

You don't need to grasp at straws to see Lennox was the greater HW you just have to watch their fights and watch Holyfields head get used as a speed ball

Every fighter has low moments in their career, Lennox avenged both his losses against 2 of the hardest 1punch artists around.

Holyfield lost against 2 former middleweights (Toney and Byrd), a former light heavyweight with a weak chin (Moorer) and 2 club fighters (Ruiz and Donald).

Holyfield is great and so is Lewis. Lewis has the better overall resume though

What made Bowe "great"? The fact that Holyfield lost to him.

Bowe was no doubt a very talented fighter, but outside of beating Holyfield twice, nothing he did would suggest that he was a "great" fighter. He beat a few fringe contenders, maybe a couple of the cusp of the top 10 at the time.

All time great pie eater maybe, btu not exactly a dominant force at heavy, but his pathetic power(for a heavyweight) still broke Holyfields fragile glass body in half:good

A 37 year old, past his prime Evander Holyfield - and I wouldn't exactly say that Holyfield used his head at a "speed ball" Their fights - particularly the second one - were far more competitive than Lewis fans like to make out, and this against a fading Holyfield. Prime for prime would be a WHOLE different ballgame. :yep

yeah and McCall and rahman were world class fighters get the hell out of here with that shit thats why lewis needed guys like tyson and holyfield to make any money nobody wanted to see him fight its lucky for him he fought holyfield 5 years out of his prime and tyson close to 14 years out of his prime amazing champ let me tell you

You silly guys. Don't you know that none of Evander's losses after the Tyson fights count. He was past his prime thus they cannot be held against him in any way.
And similarly, his losses to Bowe don't count either because Bowe was the bigger man and Holyfield showed a lot of heart.

You obviously haven't attended the class "Holyfield Apologism 101."

I don't think you've attended or passed that class either, because you left out all the injuries and ailments.

And my favorite one of all,

"Not only was Holyfield shot in the first Lewis fight, but he lost his motivation when he couldn't fulfill God's plan to win in round 3".

It seems a lot of Holyfields credit comes from opinion rather than fact.

Yes, but I also saw Lennox beat Evander twice.

Holyfield was stopped when his corner threw in the towel.

Yeah, from an accumlated beating and when he was hurt and dropped from shots to both head and body.

What total BS.

Hollyfield is an ATG fighter.

Lewis is an ATG fighter.

It's as plain as the nose on your face.

Now that the "blown up MW" thing has been officially squashed, we shift gears to calling "Lights Out" a natural MW...
Although, "natural" may be a better selection of words, it is still incorrect.

JT was upwards of 180 pounds in high school...calling him a natural middle, is a stretch...more accurately he was an unnatural middle weight. He boxed for 46 months at MW begining in '88 (not even 4 years), and has fought above MW for the last 15 years.

The fact that he is a fat HW doesn't make him a natural MW. :smoke

"Not only was Holyfield shot in the first Lewis fight, but he lost his motivation when he couldn't fulfill God's plan to win in round 3".

The Christian God lied to him. I think that would have upset any man.

you forgot to mention he doesnt headbutt on purpose, he does his best work inside and well things happen.

you missed the advanced class.

This is funny.
Whats even funnier is that its true!
Toney exposed Holyfields glass body, and it is just waiting to get smashed again.
I wonder if his terrible punch resistance to the body has anything to do with his rampant steroid use?

Holyfield was ONLY 3 years older than Lewis. Lewis was fresher but his size may have always taken the W over Holyfield. Beating Holyfield 9-3 and then 8-4 (how I had it) is allot to turn around. Holyfield was in great shape for both fights.

When was Holyfields peak anyway? When he was having a hard time with Ancient Foreman/Holmes or getting beat by Bowe?

I would make Lennox Lewis the faveourate over any of those versions of Holyfield. Especially as Holyfield was smaller back then

I always thought Holfields peak was getting outboxed my Moorer:patsch
