What would you do about his conditioning?

I would love to send him on a boot camp in Tenerife with the likes of Frank Bruno and Nigel Benn and do some decent roadwork on them mountains.

I accept he will never have a six-pack, but he always looks out of sahpe to me

First off I would stop feeding the fat fucker pies and chips....the man is a complete disgrace to British sport.

I'd starve him for a month then begin training for 3 months before the bout.

I don't think there's a lot his trainer can do about it. He's obviously just undisciplined and not dedicated to his profession.

He's a likeable guy, but coming into the ring like that...

I can't believe Sky were trying to big him up at one stage.

The kid obviously has some talent ,not much, but some, but I just can't get beyond his disgusting conditioning. If he dropped a couple of stone it would be a start and a base to work from, but he and his team don't seem to give a flying fuck....a disgrace.

What annoys me is that when I'm trying to turn my mates on to boxing and they tune in to see this flabby man, it makes it very hard to convince them our sport isn't a joke.

I remember seeing McDermott lose to Skelton and being shocked. Skelton's no body beautiful but at least he looks in shape. Danny Williams may get tubby (understatement) but at least looks like a fighter.

MeDermott looks like he spent his entire camp eating Danny's supply of exceedingly good cakes. If he lost that weight, imagine how it would improve his mobility!

If he lost the excess weight he would be the number 2 light welter in the world , behind Olusegun !

It is shocking that a professional athlete can come in like that, and he's not alone these days the majority of HW's are the same.

He just looks nothing like a fighter. It's probably doing him a huge disservice as well. Can you imagine standing across from him in the ring (if you were a boxer) he's not exactly going to intimadate you is he? Any advantage, no matter how small, is worth gaining.

John - if you are reading this, we'll get behind you if you get in shape.

To a lessor extent do you think Tony Oakey would be better conditioned at 168, and Ian Napa more effective at fly

Funnily enough McD would be a much better athlete if he lost that weight. A fighter shouldn't start training camp like that, let alone risk his life.
