View Full Version : Footage of Marciano Flooring Ali FOUND!

During the 1969 computerized "super-fight" between Ali and Marciano, rumors have circulated since that the two men actually traded blows during the 75 round segments that were later spliced into the 13 round serial we see today. According to Murray Woroner and Ferdie Pacheco, who were there, an angered Marciano doubled Ali over with a body shot and floored him!
Since that time, the "fairy tale" scenario has never been found on film....UNTIL NOW! It appears on film, with Ali throwing a high jab, making Marciano's wig fly off his head, and Marciano throws a single right hook to Ali's midsection. Ali doubles over, and falls to the floor, and Dundee and others enter the ring bitching at one another, and Marciano walks off the set. Filming stops.

I remember last year, Mendoza pretended that footage of Walker-Greb had been found. That was much more horrifying than this.

I seriously contemplated doing a 'Ray Robinson Welterweight fights found in perfect condition!' But didn't have enough factual information about any small regional town in the States to base a fake report (as I assumed that's the kinda' place something like that would be found, in an attic in a ghost town)

I bought the "Marciano-Ali" DVD a few years back........ I like it............ However, all bullshit aside, Marciano CANNOT and NEVER could beat Muhammad Ali in the ring..... Time Machine or not...... Never..........
The DVD has two endings in order to satisfy the fans of either Marciano or Ali...... I tend to believe the late round TKO by Ali in which Marciano is covered in blood.... That ending is realistic...... Cheers......

Can't imagine Ali being floored by any bodyshot after Chuvalo beat on his midsection for 15 rounds until he pissed blood, and the other body beatings he soaked up.

Perhaps Marciano cant ko Ali.
BUT I would not write Rocky off. I think the fight is 50 50 one way or other. Marciano does have the style to give Ali hell. and like Norton, can thown arkward punchings. I can see a Marciano victory here on points.

There are eye witness. But to be fair, Ali was out of shape, while Rocky train his butt off for this computer fight.

Flabby body will definitely not help you as much as a trained one when it comes to bodyshots.
Enter Tyson/Tubb's bodyshot KO.

Ill tell ya, ali gained alot of respect for marciano after that sparring session. BEHIND CLOSED DOORS he told angelo dundee "that marciano is alot harder to hit with a jab than he looks." at one point Duva came over to ali when they were sparring and marciano said "Muhammad lift up ur shirt" and Ali lifted it up his whole midsection was pinkish red with welts ali said "that boy is crazy". of course this is all sparring and marciano was old man and ali was 26 and didnt go full out. I did hear marciano hit ali so hard to the body at one point, ali got angry and said if he did that again he was going to tear his face off with a jab. I heard another story ali knocked marcianos wig off and marciano got really pissed off and threated to hit ali hard if he did it again.
Ill tell ya prime for prime I pick ali to win a close decision, but ali would be in for the fight of his life. Hell tell ya. Ali became closer with marciano than any other white boxer he ever knew he once said. When asked of the greatest champions of all time...he talked down many champions. for instance he called james jeffries "slowest and clumsiest champion of all time." but he always spoke highly of the rock.
Anyone on the marciano Ali DVD phamplet have the full quote ali said about marciano??? about he cant imagine what he fought like in his prime, something to that effect

Ali said Marciano would likely be the toughest match-up for him of all the past champions.
The former champion that he had most respect for as a boxer was Gene Tunney. :good

Ali said of Marciano, "My whole body ached, and ours wasn't a real fight," when asked of Marciano's body punching abilities. He also said he was amazed that with Marciano being nearly 46 years old that Ali had difficulty trying to land a jab on him. He also said he couldnt believe, for being 45, how strong Marciano was, that he could not imagine what a prime Marciano was like.

I sat directly behind Muhammad Ali, at the old Stanley Theater in Philadelphia, the night they showed the Ali-Marciano computer fight. Ali was very friendly with me and we talked off and on throughout the show. He spoke very highly of Rocky and said he had great respect him.
Ali: "He was in his forties and he still hit hard!"
Me: "What do you think? Could you have beaten Marciano when he was in his prime?"
Ali: "I don't know. I don't want to say anything bad about Rocky. I have great respect for him! I'll whoop Joe Frazier, though!"

It wasn't serious obviously, but you can bet both men, at times, let their competitive spirit get the better of them and launched some serious punches.

That's a nice story. Sounds like typical Ali at the end. :D

Joe Frazier said there were 2 fighters besides himself that he was sure would beat Ali...Louis and Marciano.....I think Ali was a great fighter but he would have to dance all night to beat these 2 ...I think Ali would present a problem for both men but do not be fooled to think Marciano and Louis would not have a good chance of winning clear like Frazier did in fight 1....Ali was great but did not walk on water like a lot of posters believe...he had the style to beat 2 slow mean looking monsters, Liston and Foreman....but Ali had his share of tough fights Norton,Cooper,Jones, even Chuvalo(body shots too many) Frazier, Young...the only one that was more of a complete fighter was Frazier (punch, stamina, winning attitude) and he bested Ali while both were prime

IMO, the Ali of the FOTC with Frazier, would have lost to a prime Marciano that night as well. Its funny, in the computer sim, it was a left hook that knocks Ali out, and in real life, it was a left hook from Frazier than knocks Ali down in the final round.

I tend to lean that way as well. At least, he would have to go through absolute hell to win.

Well, if they had been paying close attention it was already clear that the left hook was Ali's achille's heel. He'd already been floored two times by left hooks. Chuvalo landed a respectable number as well.

I believe marciano beats the FOTC or rumble in jungle version of ali(no way ali can dope a dope vs marciano)..........But I do believe a 1966-67 ali outpoints rocky marciano. The only fighter I believe can beat that Peak Version of Ali is Joe Louis.

Ali was still a young man and had 2 big fights vs Quarry and Bonevena. after 3 yrs off..It was not like he came back after 4 years off at the age of 37 like Vitali Klitschko and fought the Champ( even though Frazier was much better than Peter IMO...I happen to think Ali was stronger than before the comeback....but I guess its a hard pill for a die hard Ali-fan like you (the bad beating he took from Joe)...I dont know how well Marciano would have come back from a layoff (because he never had to, he only fought in his prime) but If the Ali that fought Frazier in 1 would have his hands full with Marciano and Louis just like he did with Frazier...The Ali prior to the comeback may have been faster and more of a mover but he was not as strong and that my opinion...

well every great fighter and trainer thinks the same as me - ali who faced frazier was not in the same league than the guy who left boxing in 1967. i take insights from the likes of Cus D'Mato who was there with Ali at the time of the comeback and know the truth and reality of the situation + you can clearly see the diminished changes with one's own eyes - re-watch the bonavena fight.
