Fury's next opponent will be 20-6-0 Matthew Ellis. Quite a jump up from Lee Swaby. I absoloutely love this kid, he fights every month, is big and he apparently seems to be willing to take on most anyone available. Predictions on this fight? I see it going into the 5th round, before Fury TKO's Ellis.

Ellis is the guy who was KOed by Enzo.
Is he a journeyman or more of a tomato can?

He used to be a decent journeyman. I'm not sure how much he has left, though.
Still, a good sort of opponent for Fury at this point. I'd like to see him face someone tall, though: Fraudley got into the habit of fighting short and stocky (a nice way of putting it) boxers who he could beat mainly with his height. A tall opponent would force Fury to pay attention to the fundamentals of the sport.

:huh Can someone tell me wtf a tomato can is?
And I always thought a journeyman someone who will travel anywhere anytime,to fight anybody. A promoters saviour.
I've always hated the term bum,but where the fucks tomato can come from?

not bad for such an early fight.
to be honest people will still criticise him when he gets in there with the likes of McDermott and Skelton.
Sprott would be a good opponent for him after Ellis.

Fury will knock him out by mid rounds, probably before mid rounds.

I would have thought they'd have looked for an American opponent, if this is on the Froch Taylor undercard?

Quality fight considering it's still so early. Ellis offers a good record but alot of experience. It's early days and this is the sort of opposition he needs. It's a shame Fury doesn't look like the next Tyson.

Ah right. And he'll also be fighting on the Froch undercard? Cutting it close, isn't it?

 True, but atleast we no who these fella's are, and he is keeping active which is good. I think he is fighting the right level of comp at this stage.
I dont like his style though.

Agreed. David Price highlighted this with his first fight. This level of competition should be getting sparked by a decent heavyweight prospect

Is the Central Area Heavey Weight title vacant?
This would be a could have been a first title opportunity for Tyson

It took Audley, Enzo and Chris Burton 2 rounds to beat him, so 2nd round TKO from a body shot

Tomato can - Don't really know where it comes from, but it means a fighter who cannot really fight back, no skills or talent, barelly does any training, grossly out of shape, but happens to have courage to step into the ring to take a massive beating.
Journeyman - Usually someone who does regular training but doesn't have talent. Can compete some and even win in case of not being taking seriously by the better fighters. Daniel Peret and Marcel Zeller are classic examples.

Matthew Ellis is a step back from Lee Swaby in my opinion. He is a shadow of his former self and is only back in the ring because he is skint.
Fury will stop in within 2 rounds. MAX 3.

Tomato can originally meant a bleeder, because you open him up and the tomato sauce comes out.
Now it means someone who is set up just to get knocked down without fighting back.
Funny how stuff changes.

I think it's a good opponent for him at this stage and if he beats him and then wins on the Froch v Taylor undercard I'd like to see him step up in class and maybe fight for a title.

KO's are rare in British rings though..... the referees tend to jump in when a guy is clearly beaten and cannot continue - granted some of the more bloodthirsty fans don't like it, but if it was your son/brother getting a beating you would think differently.

I think its wrong. This eliminates the great skill of recovery. It has potentially robbed of us of many extraordinary fights.
The Matthew Saad Muhammad thread in the General reminded me of how many times he recovered from the brink, taking shot after shot while stunned on the ropes and fighting back to win.

The BBBC have done a wonderful job. I rarely argue with a stoppage. Mathews the other week was poor though.... the ref really fucked up.

Isn't Ellis that bloke who used to come into the ring to the James Bond theme and wearing a Velco tuxedo??
