Mayorga: I'll KO 'Paquita!'
Not clearly translated for English-speaking media during yesterday's Ricardo Mayorga conference call, was Mayorga's continual references to Fernando Vargas as "Paquita La Del Barrio," the popular heavyset Mexican singer. "I am ready to knock out Paquita La Del Barrio," vowed Mayorga. Later he taunted, "Paquita La Del Barrio is in better shape than he is....I've got a picture of him in my room and every morning when I wake up to run, I hit the picture of Vargas/Paquita La Del Barrio, who are the same. They're as fat as each other, but I just hit him every morning on the face as a reminder that I'm going to knock him out." When asked about Vargas' claim that he has Mayorga's number, Mayorga stated, "I had the guts to face Trinidad. That is a super champion. Now I am supposed to be scared of the sister of Paquita La Del Barrio?.....Paquita, I am going to teach you who is the man in the ring, p--dejo."

Funniest fighter in boxing today. :rofl

Mayorga Quotes:

on Vargas-
"last night i had a dream that i threw a rotten orange at vargas' chin and he fell. thats what's gonna happen on sept 8"

"vargas reminds me of my son's asss, nice and round"

I seen the pic it was funny and i think vargas is gonna seriously get hurt, vargas doesn't have the legs he used to and for that reason i think he will take alot of punishment.

about his legs and core...

what i dont understand, if its obviously his core and legs (which i understand his core... he cant train it like he used to due to his bulged L-5 disc)

but as far as his legs, why not work them and train them and make them a focus during camp? so that its not a weak point anymore?

this is something i dont understand... unless its his lower back and core that make it look like his legs dont have it.

I hope vargas wins. I still am leaning toward Mayorga to win but Mayorga has always been a sub-par talent. Vargas was bested by Mosley twice but that should not qualify him as being shot. I am hoping Vargas puts on a hell of a performance, wins and retires. There is no need for him to take anymore punches.

Back injuries are especially debillitating to leg coordination and the ability to train them from spinal misalignment and other pains. Running is painful, rope is painful. 450 pounds on the smith rack from calf raises fell on me and compressed multiple vertebrae, and ever since then running and working legs and foot coordination has been much much more difficult for me to work on. I'm surprised guys like Joppy can still fight after having broken spines because these back problems just never seem to go away.
