Not sure mate, but its definiately valid. 60 minutes had a great time 'airing' the audio/footage. The fooatge is factual, the audio is factual, the entire thing is factual. Yes its real, as alll who have the entire fight, will also have the same sweet words from Fenech towards King.

Tommy Gallagher trained Yuri Vaulin, a tall, light-hitting Russian cruiserweight.

Vaulin was matched with Tommy Morrison, who was on track for a title fight, in a main event on national TV. It was supposed to be no more than tune-up for Morrison.

From round one through four, the Russian surprised everyone, out jabbing and out boxing Morrison.

The crowd and Gallagher smelled upset -- the BIG MONEY for Vaulin was in grasp.

Suddenly, in the 5th round, Morrison caught the Russian with a left hook to the body. He crumpled to the canvas and couldn’t beat the count.

The TV announcer jumped into the ring and shoved a mic in Gallagher's face while he ministered to the Russian.

"Tommy, Tommy, your kid was so close to being a contender. What happened?"

"The co#%sucker quit!" Gallagher said coast-to-coast.

Liston quipped a classic line after getting his jaw broken. Don't know if it was the post-fight interview or later, given that his effing jaw was busted it probably was later.

But he said something along the lines: "I couldn't keep from laughing looking at that clown, and right when I did he happened to hit me."

Cohn has an even better, but I don't know for sure when he said it. But it was on a question of why he tried to slug it out with Louis, and he said something like: "Well, what good is it being Irish if you can't be stupid."

This one is of course known to all of you, but I just love it.

Not sure if it was right after the fight, but he said something like 'he is the greatest fighter of all-time, after me'

It wasn't said in a cocky manner, quite the opposite, in a respectful way.

Chris Eubank after stopping Nigel Benn 'the man is an animal'

It was shit how the media guy tried to make out like Eubank was slagging off Benn, but Eubank quickly put him straight and told how he meant it as a compliment to Benn's bodypunching power.

British media for you, they knew what he meant and should have just took it as a kinda throwback pug line.

Like TBooze said, Wepner was the one who did that... apparently he bought his wife special lingerie to wear for the occasion and everything. I always get a laugh out of that one, and it's a fun one to tell too, even non-boxing fans get a kick out of it.

For recent ones, David Diaz' post-fight interview after getting beat by Manny Pacquiao was a classic, especially "He was so fast I thought Freddie was fuckin' in there hitting me too!" Check out the last round and interview here:

<object width="425" height="344"><param name="movie" value="[Only registered and activated users can see links]"></param><param name="allowFullScreen" value="true"></param><param name="allowscriptaccess" value="always"></param><embed src="[Only registered and activated users can see links]" type="application/x-shockwave-flash" allowscriptaccess="always" allowfullscreen="true" width="425" height="344"></embed></object>

(Also gotta say, really great candor and sportsmanship from Diaz in that interview, very commendable).

Pep's funniest one was when he bumped into an old opponent and he was alleged to of said:

"Lay down, so I can recognize you!"

Alan Minter, famously, has the stupidest quote:

"Sure boxers have been injured and killed in boxing; but none of them seriously."

When Carl 'Bobo' Olson won the vacant world middleweight title from Randy Turpin in 1953, he commented:

"This title should belong to Dave Sands".

Sands, the Australian champ with a 97 wins, 10 losses & 1 draw record beat Olson conclusively in both their bouts (1950 & 1951), and had been tragically killed in a motor accident in 1952.
