For all his power, Little Red won his championship by decisioning David Kotey over 15 rounds in Kotey's hometown. He took out Mike Ayala in 15 rounds after securing an insurmountable lead on the scorecards in Ring Magazine's Fight of the Year for 1979. While Danny was lacking in handspeed, his stamina was tested and proven. LaPorte would go 15 rounds, and might score a flash KD on Little Red, but just as Juan did against Sanchez, he would fade down the stretch. As Ayala told the interviewer over and over about Lopez after their classic, "He's a great champion."

I don't see any way Juan can win this.

Danny Lopez has to settle for a decision here...it's no disgrace..Little Red W15 Juan LaPorte. No knockdowns in this one and Lopez shows patience as he stalks LaPorte all night and fires many jabs and bombs, but Juan "The Iron Jaw" takes every one of them enroute to losing a wide decision. The last two rounds Juan may have let it all hang out like he did in the last round with Barry McGuigan, but that would be the extent of it.

:nono No way even though Lopez is one of the best punchers ive ever seen,Laporte also has one of the best chins ever! I dont think anyone would have kod Laporte not even Danny.
Danny would win a Competetive but convincing decision Lopez W 15
LaPorte wins the upset by late round stoppage. Lopez too slow with a shaky chin. LaPorte was quite quick, got a decent punch and a chin from hell. Lopez retires on his stool after being floored several times.

Depends what Laporte turned up...Im half inclined to think Danny forces the more timid low volume Juan to turn up.
But I dont know..Laporte has the punch to turn out Danny's lights if he is forced to really fight for survival.
A lot of scenarios to think about...In the end I probably think Juan gets the best of most of them, just by a hair.
