Apart from the trainers and coaches in the corner, who impresses you, who annoys you, who do you have respect for ?
They dont just hold a bottle of water or slap on the vasi.

Benny King is a very good cutman.
Also the lad that looked after Hatton a few times. Mick Williamson was it?
Eamon Magee seems to be doing well under Breen as well

well the top trainers ever are in no order
Angelo Dundee- skilled in corner work and tactics, knew his fighters well and was fly in the corner but also a class 1 tactician, good cutsman too
Eddie Futch- An amazing strategist he could make a strategy for Butterbean to beat Ali. He also was brillaint with fighters and knew when to stop a fight and how to motivate a fighter
Freddie Roach- A great strategist and trainer has learnt alot from Futch and you can see alot of Futch in him in the way he knows strategy real well and can easy break down a fighter and look at the improvement to Pacquiao from wild brawler to decent attaking technician
Ray Arcell- A great strategist and great corner man, could motivate a fighter and kept great controll in his corner
Jack Blackburn- a good corner man wasnt the best strategist but could motivate a fighter and keep them calm, he also was a great trainer and was way ahead of his time
the best cutsmen are in no order
Freddie Brown- an amazing cutsman could keep a cut under controll like second nature, also he was real efficaint and normally managed it in the allocated 60 seconds, many fighters used this guy as a trainer aswelll where he was excellant and real loyal
Joe Souza- a career with Gatti taught him everything about cuts
MicK Willaimson- look at the job he does with hatton
theres afew more but im a bit tired and cant be bothered doing anymore

Awesome, cheers to both of ya, didnt actually know or bother to find out Hattons cutman, name wise. From what i remember , Hatton compared to before dosent cut up so much, i read he had plastic etc. Anyways......
Good script too GPater, as ya says, Gatti's man had to be good. Wondering where they are now.
Cheers again :good

also Al gavin micky wards cuts man was good same with Lou Duva although he was a terrile cornerman who lost meldrick taylor a fight with chavez
Hatton had plastic surgery on his cuts but did you know Jose Napoles had his cheek bones shaved down to stop getting cut so much.
would be interesting to know where they are, Mick willaimsin is a cab driver in london not sure about the rest, Gavin and Souza are still active i think

Williamson is a legend in my eyes. Shame he earns so little for his work.
If had a big fight lined up I'd want Roach as my trainer and Mick as cutsman. Dream team.

OK compared to Hatton, he earns fuck all, but I think that the good cutsmen do all right out of the sport.
I believe that they get paid by the boxers, depending on whether it's a 6, 8 10 or 12 rounder, so if they are on a bill that's got eight fights and they are in a corner for all of them, it should be a nice little earner.

Mick Williamson is the only cutsman I have ever seen that I think does a genuinly good job every single time the fighter comes back to the corner.

A cutsmans job in the maelstrom of a big title fight has been described as being as difficult as trying to thread a needle in an air raid

I think that without doubt the way that Mick Williamson has been able to nurse a tissue paper skinned fighter like Hatton through fights shows his class and skill. In the past Eddie Thomas showed his worth, and was lauded by some as the factor that enabled Buchjanan to beat Laguna for the 2nd time....a great write-up here [Only registered and activated users can see links]
