It was in the current issue of boxing news, where Danny said that Herbie had made him take a knee in a previous sparring session, yet Danny trained for the next time they sparred and apparently knocked out Hide. This all happened before Hide went against Klitschko. Do you believe this is true?
Yeah hide has a terrible chin and good power
It's pretty believable. Hide has probably been down many times in sparring. He's a guy you don't even need to hit to knockout.

I think that the woeful state of Herbies chin is greatly exagerated, he just doesn't like being hit by heavyweights. A 47-4 record is decent by anyones standards even though he has been soundly beaten everytime that he has stepped up to the highest level. I can't believe that Danny Williams needed to "train" to put Herbie down, he would just need to connect - or, as TFFP pointed out, not in some cases....I think that they used to call it "wind of ball".

But apparently he wasn't just knocked down, but brutally laid out, with Danny saying that if it wasn't for Herbie's trainer reviving him he would still be out!
BTW I believe Danny all the way, apart from that last bit.
47-4 against who though? His cruiserweight wins are literally a bunch of tin cans, and his heavyweight wins are not much better. He even got KO'd by one of these cab drivers.
Hide had a chance at cruiserweight years ago but he spurned it for big paydays in the heavyweight ranks. That's fine, he made big money for fighting Bowe, but he lost his chance at glory because he was never going anywhere at heavy. Now he's too late.

Hide had a chance at cruiserweight years ago but he spurned it for big paydays in the heavyweight ranks. That's fine, he made big money for fighting Bowe, but he lost his chance at glory because he was never going anywhere at heavy. Now he's too late.
47-4 with a supposed appalling chin is good by any measure, I just don't think that his chin is that bad, he is just a natural cruiser who tried to make heavyweight. As you indicate, if Herbie had concentrated on cruiserweight he would have been a good, solid world champ IMO.

Hide was knocked out by Klitschko without a punch landing.... 100% official. He feignted or something. One of the most bizarre KO losses ever... Not like Seldon faking it against Tyson.... Hide Klit was something else.

reports about who knocked out who in sparring shouldnt be taken too seriously....sparring isnt a proper boxing match.

thought it was a temple shot myself.
Never like to think of pros faking it - with the exception of Mario Crawly vs Rahmen when he kept throwing himself to the floor.
Hide just cant take a punch. Williams defo has enuff to spark hide clean out then again Naz probably had enuff.... I think Hide might get one last decent pay day but last time i saw him i defo think age is catching up to him no where need the speed of hand and foot he used to

I haven't seen the whole fight just bits. but would Enzo have found the target a bit more than the guy he fought? sorry theres no way ill spell his name right alofabi was it? From the clips i saw alofabi didnt seem to like having his hands up was all shoulder movent and ducking low ala Toney. Still Hide would always have a chance v enzo and vice versa probably

Yes. They actually brought it up in the Ringside studio on sky sports when word got out, then at the final press conference for Hide-Klitschko, someone, maybe a reporter, asked Williams about it & he said he knocked Hide flat out. An embarrassed Hide asked Willams to step outside etc then flipped a table over & lunged at Williams. Seeing Hide later stiffened by Klitschko was no suprise :-(.
Hide also launched a strange tirade at Klitschko at some point, calling him a "refugee" :huh.

4 losses. 1 to VK, 1 to Riddick Bowe. Drastically outsized in both fights.
Like a junior welterweight fighting middleweights.
The two other losses, one bad cut, and one punch after the break.
I'm confused, he's lost his power now that he has slowed down.

When Hide's chin betrays him it is just awful. He'll get ko'd by anything. He did very well though and he did get up from shots.

Exactly - no shame in a crusier getting KO'd by two 240 lbs + heavyweights. And Klitschko and Bowe at that.
Williams performance against VK was embarrasing as well lets not forgot. He was staggering around the ring like he had just drunk 20 pints.
Dont get me wrong, Hides chin is not good, but I think he is underated by most people.

When Danny brought this up at the press conference before the Hide v Vittali fight,Herbies reaction said it all.From what people say Danny startched him good! But Hide had been asking for it all week.He was bullying the sparing guys and Knocking them all out.Danny just wasnt having it and only did what Herbie would have done to him.
