A Russian website (russiatoday.com) reports that Nik Valuev is considering a voluntry defence of his WBA heavyweight title, and that Kali Meehan is calling out Valuev and saying Valuev's chicken to face him.
Kali reckons he'll knock Valuev out cold given the chance.
May 30th is getting a mention. But whether Kali's actually in the running as the opponent is anyone's guess.

After his insipid display against Holyfield, Valuev looks ripe for the picking.

Is this why Meehan has been inactive, just waiting for a shot at Valuev? Meehan would give it a go I reckon, then again, there's probabaly quite a few who could give it to the big guy.

These comments from Meehan are to be expected.
He wants a shot and the money that comes with it.

I think meehan could be very dangerous against valuev, and could probably outpoint him if he moved about

he deserves the shot but he might not get it, how fucked is that?
i kinda liked valuev to start with, but not anymore.

I can't see Meehan beating Valouev. If money is good, then Valouev should take this fight as a tuneup.

I thought Meehan was number 1 contender :huh

I just checked WBA rankings, looks like Meehan is #1 contender, but somehow Valouev might get a voluntary fight, but I understand purse bid is happening for Chagaev. Who knows? I guess we will find out.

I think King controls Meehan.. should the fight eventuate, Kail would only have to win 4 rounds to secure a points victory.

Meehan is doomed man, he is already waiting for his WBA belt shot for a year and now Ruiz is put in front of him again.
So, after the purse bid april 15th for Chagaev vs Valuev, there should be a june date for this fight, then Ruiz will get another chance, then maybe Meehan will get his, but, by the look of it, no sooner than 2010.
Meehan should not be waiting and get himself the most lucrative fight available. Maybe a fight against Hoppa for the aussie belt or against Rogan for the Commonwealth belt. Maybe Cameron would be interested in a fight if he beats Tua.

I dont know if anybody heard, but the mandatory is John "Huggy" Ruiz, Kali's 1# ranking means nothing and he only has it due to Don King's string pulling. As much as i love Kali and would love to see a Aussie bring home the HW title, he wont get a shot, not in 2009.

Not only are all these organisation's alphabet titles a joke their #1 rankings are equally laughable. How could any sport become so totally screwed?

Yeah with all the regular titles and such.....however they do bring some great title fights......like the famous RJJ VS Ruiz for the WBA ordinary HW title.....so maybe its a good thing from time to time

I just realised they are using this term for all WBA world titles that aren't 'Super'
That's just fucking wrong. It's unfair to the boxers who won legitimate WBA titles and not fraudulent ones like Mundine and others.

Ok call it 'Ordinary' but change the 'Super' to 'Extra ordinary' and then have all title matches announce by Warwick Moss

I thought it was ok the way it was......WBA title and super champ
End of the day its about cash and fees...however......title or not public need to like a fighter to pay for the event
