i hear guys all the time saying things like "oh you just care about appearance and not boxing"

cant we have both??

i myself (dont want to brag) have a pretty good physique people tell me i am just there to look good, i tell them i didn't choose to look like that, this is how i am.

i have not lifted weights in about 2 or 3 months (no time) but i still work max strength using bodyweight movements such as one handed push ups, one legged squats and handstand push ups etc

cant we all just get along the people with nice physiques and the people without???

No way pretty boy take your oiled up, tanned, g-string posing body away from here.

To post here you need a pot belly, a few missing teeth, man boobs and some acne.

Nothing wrong with wanting to look good at all, I'm sure the girls would prefer it over this..........

Not at all. Aesthetics is an element of the game. It can and has been intimidating for amateurs and pros.

Mainly, a good body can be indictive of the hard work put in and thats the true reward.

the people who rip you off about having a good body are no doubt jealous because they cant achieve the same results.
if your spending all your time at the gym doing bicep curls then theres a problem but im sure you train hard with all boxing work that you do.
ive also got the curse of being extremely good looking, its hard work knocking back all the girls and concentrating on boxing alone but youll get there son.

You can have both but to be successful you usually have to pick a specialist subject.

Just compare Bodybuilding to Powerlifting. When you start off you succeed in both (look good and lift heavy), but you will soon realise that if you want to be the best you have to make a choice and stick to it.

You may not want to break any records/have 0.0000001 bodyfat though.

If you have genetics that allow you to look great whilst specialising, then great.

Its ok to have a muscular physique when your doing boxing, but if your training with your top off in an open boxing gym whilst listening to hit me with your best shot on your ipod then you deserve muscular dystrophy.

Bullshit. Butterbean had nothing but Biceps and was infamous for his powershots.

I dont look good but because I have light brown hair and blue eyes I get called the equivalent of a "pretty boy" in the gym. Wish I could get more girls thinking I look good, but if men think that then something is definately wrong.

I trump it up to my hair and eye color versus japanese always being black/brown. Still makes me uneasy...

That's rather frightening. Guys in the gym telling you stuff like that. What else, They look at each other in the changing room?

A well rounded physique is often over looked anyway.

You see many nowadays with disproportionately built areas and a lot of the time it looks gross -to the untrained eye they think it looks good, but from an athletic pov they are wrongly built.
Skeletal frame is also a big determiner in Aesthetics, physiques however aren't always WYSIWYG.

When I hear 'good body', I have to take into account: Who's talking?

Relentless, aesthetics are so subjective. When I look in the mirror and see my perfection it is but one biased view point. I've found that a lot of girls have no concept of actual fitness - I get more praise for my body when I am slightly out of shape than when I am in my best physical shape. Not that there is a huge difference, but I've noticed my girlfriends compliment my body more if I haven't worked out for a few days for some reason, and it always kind of disappoints me. Or they will praise a physique that I know is high in useless fat and has inutile abscesses in function.

no. i agree its ok if you want to balance it. if people say you just look like a pretty boy?. show them wrong in the ring. show them you can kick some butt

If the thread starter thought like you do, then there would be a problem.

Yeh but Aramini see if from girls view point, they like the look of muscle, the like the look of size, probably triggers the old primitive thoughts of he would make them feel safe etc, you however are a 16 yr old boy with huge arms and monster calfs. However like u said girls dont generally know shit about actual fitness, ive seen big 100 kg boys and girls go fuck hes huge, and i say yeh but wat could he do with it??

There are limits, and Relentless, self esteem improves greatly when you have an impressive physique, one that you are impressed with.

I know what you mean, most girls seem to prefer bodybuilding physiques to something genuinely functional/powerful, e.g. olympic lifters, low body fat boxers etc.

Not entirely true girls like boxers with low body fat providing they have some decent all around muscle. Like a Diego Corrales in terms of muscle is nowhere near as impressive as say Zab Judah at lightweight.

I agree with you, I think at clubs, in actual clothes girls may be more impressed by the "bulk" of a bodybuilder, "blurry mass" as it may be.

But when the shirt comes off, their head will turn to the lean machine boxer with the rippling sixpack, I guarantee it!

BTW - Muscles are indicative of testosterone, that why on an unconscious level women are attracted to muscular men, same way guys like BIG TITS!

I think it's a little weird that people who claim to not care about looking good are checking out your body and complaining that it looks good. They're the weird ones.

The Whaler

I disagree that most girls like massive bodybuilder physiques. Most girls I know like a lean, musuclar body. One that's stremalined and undeniably masculine, but isn't huge and unwieldy. Someone like a young Holyfield.

girls dont really care about body shape or looks,
they care about personality.

NEWS FLASH GUYS

Girls aren't into the big muscley guys.

Seems like all of the body building stuff and trying to be super skinny so you look ripped or whatever is just for guys. Girls actually find it unattractive. Someone who is healthy and naturally built even if they have a spare tire is far more attractive than someone who looks like they spend hours on their body. And believe me, you can tell the difference.

Ask your female friends. Would they rather go out with some muscled up guy who looks like he spends hours in the gym or just some average guy who looks like he's in decent shape.
If I get the time today I'll post two different pictures of what I mean.
Anyway, pointless trying to argue with you guys on here you always seem to think you know know more of what women want than what women do.

in general the worse shape I am in the more compliments I get on my physique from girls, which is a shame.

But at 130ish pounds and 5'8'' there is nothing "too much" about me except maybe my calves. The difference is probably one of sub 5 percent body fat to one of maybe seven or eight, I would guess. It is a shame, really, that guys in worse shape get more credit than guys in great shape. But it seems like there is a fine line there. Some fat drunken slobs get chicks - others don't. I don't like the muscle bound look either, but a guy like Pac-man or Ndou would probably be too lean for your average girl to like compared to a higher fat physique . On the flip side bodybuilders would probably be too massive. A girl I know met pretty boy floyd in person and said he just looked like some skinny unathletic little guy - frame to her was more important than the actual athleticism of his physique.

That's OK, though.

I dont mean a 5'10" 140 kg bodybuilder, i meant a 5'10" 80 kg fit but muscular bloke. Not huge just muscular.
