Do the manner with which Folley's body lands, lays there, and gets up on both knockdowns make anyone else go .... :huh

They are weird knockdowns. The fight looks like a negotiated deal. Ali gives Folley a shot. Folley gives the fans some moments. Folley goes down. I don't want to believe that. And I'm not saying I do. But the fight had a weird vibe.

Yeah, there was always some suspicions about a couple of Ali's early title defenses being "pre-arranged" somehow.
Folley was knocked down by Liston in almost the same manner as by Ali only in less rounds. He pitched face forward on the canvas when he went down from Liston's punches.

Where did you see the Folley-Liston fight on tape?

Watching this "best of Ali".....you could see where Frazier would have moved right on in and started smoking.
I remember watching this fight on home TV....there was something a little "strange" about the build-up & fight.

Eh, the first one I think Foley wasn't hurt too badly, he was just surprised by the speed and sharpness of Ali's counter. He took a little time on the canvas to get himself back together, shake it off and come back. (The weirdest thing about the first KD is the way Foley suddenly does a push up getting up... maybe he really was out of it for a second and snapped back to himself).
Second one seems perfectly clean to me, twas a right on the chin shot that spun his head around and separated his mind from his body. Clinical KO.

Theres no doubt these punches were landing. Its the how he reacts and falls down. At 5:36, he has already fallen down and is on the floor face down. But you see him then drop his head and hand several moments after hitting the cavas. Maybe its looking to much into it. But it looks unnatural, and who have you seen get knocked down so there arm is in a position to push themselves off the ground and stay that way for several seconds?

i think its more Alis speed and precision knocks people down before theyr actually hurt by knocking them off balance so quick

I didn't see the fight on tape. I did however see photos of Zora Folley, after being nailed by Sonny Liston, pitching face forward to the canvas; similar to his knockdowns by Ali. I remember watching the Ali fight back in March of 1967 and noticing the similarity of the knockdowns of the two fights.
I would like to see the Liston-Folley fight on tape but I don't think that one exists. I have seen other people ask about a recording of this fight. The pictures I saw of it I believe were in an old "Ring " magazine.

What's fishy? Being hit with punches on the chin?

The punches landed cleanly, again its not a question of the punches landing. Its how he or his body acts on the knockdown.
Lieing face down with your elbow tense and held vertical, ready to push yourself up? Really? You ever seen anyone get knocked down like that for several seconds? It takes effort to hold your elbow in that position, and when you are temporarily knocked down / unconcious you certainly don't have that kind of bodily control.

From what I know that was Folley's traditional reaction to getting caught with a good punch. So unless he was taking dives against Liston, Lavorante, Jones, Foster, I'd say this was a legit knockout for Ali.
A lot of people questioned Folley's heart. He had all the other tools it seemed but when he was hit he would "fold".
In this fight he was caught early but fought back hard with whatever he had left at that point of his career.

Unfortunately I couldn't find any of Liston vs Folley.
Here is how the fight ended:
"Folley tumbled face down onto the canvas for the final count in the 3rd. He never moved until seconds after the knockout." -Associated Press
I just read an exclusive story from the Sports Illustrated archives about Liston-Folley. Zora was knocked down three times; twice in the second round and then after about twenty seconds of the third round he was counted out. Each knockdown he went face forward to the canvas. So this must have been the way his body reacted when he would get dropped by a hard shot.
Putting all of this aside I admired Zora Folley as a boxer. He should have been given a title shot many years before he fought Ali. At least Ali had the decency to give all deserving contenders a chance at the title.
RIP Zora Folley
