No offense, but... Duh!
1) Pac doesn't belong in with welters. He just doesn't.
2) Duran is about twice his size before he starts training, and is on of the hardest hitting lightweights ever who still had quite respectable power at welter.

Pac leaves in a stretcher after 4 RDs...if not quicker.

Why at welter instead of lightweight? Still favours Duran tremendously, but it's a little more fair on Pac.

Duran went the distance against Welters that Pac would have beat with one hand tied behind his back.

You just dont stop do you ?
Pac wont beat ANY decent 147 fighter. You can quote me on that.
That win over a human corpse is void in my eyes and the eyes of millions of others. DLH disgraced himself that night with the worst performance I've seen from a top fighter possibly in all my time watching boxing.
You saying Pac would beat these welters with one hand is nothing but PURE BASELESS SPECULATION. You have absolutely nothing to substantiate what you've said there.

regardless of wether 135, 140 or 147 Duran Wins. Pac is a good fighter, but Duran is on a different level.

Imagine a 142 pound Duran against the 145 pound walking corpse De La Hoya?
Duran would beat up Oscar the way he brutalized Davy Moore, if not worse.

Pacman is the worst head to head fighter of all-time.
He was shite at the lower weights and had crap punch resistance, and at the higher weights he's far too small.
Duran inside 4 rounds.

His ungodly power at almost every weight he fought at is a huge equalizer for a so-so chin. You're hell bent with an agenda here though, so I don't know why I'm bothering.
Pacquaio didn't accomplish what he did at the lower weights, most of the time being near deathly weight drained and fresh off the streets by being the worst H2H fighter of all time.

Duran inside 4 rounds.on the classic Forum, Pac gets called the "worst head to head fighter of all-time" its one of the reasons that although i read alot of the posts here for the interesting information, i keep from discussions cause the views are very skewed.

Look, Pacquiao is great. But just because he has beaten a washed up O DLH or Ricky Hatton, who is also probably past his best, does not mean that he is going to beat 'the DURAN'.

Says the Brit. Pacman is obviously better then Hatton so I guess he's not the "worst" head to head fighter of all-time now is he?

I think the reason for this is earlier in pacs career he was a bit too 1 dimensional and his recent improvement to an all round talented fighter has occured when he is fighting possibly above his natural weight class and the best of the best would hold physical advantages over him, however i agree some where underrating him, i was one of them.
In this fight though, its still duran TKO late for me :yep

It is reassuring. Still, what I want to know is "who the fuck are the nine classic posters who said Virgil Hill was better than Mike McCallum"? :huh :yep

I wonder if Pacquiao could beat a prime SRL at welter, go 15 rounds with Hagler, compile a 74-1 record at one stage in his career, or win the middleweight title at age 38? Cmon, Pacman is a great fighter but Duran is top 5 P4P of all time.

Whoever voted Pac by KO should be banned. That's pure fucking idiocy, unjustifiable.

Pac's only problem now as to being an atg is the question of who he beat and when. He needs a real in or close to prime JW or Welter to beat. So the question can be put to rest.
He may end up being in a gap of talent as far as that goes. Unless he moves to WW and fights that crew.

P4p what manny has achieved is remarkable,i do agree with posters who say we are in the midst of a legend and achievements which may never be bettered,i can even live with arguments comparing him to armstrong and hearns as an effective weight jumper......
BUT,never, never, never, never in a million years of evolution under freddie roach, michael moorer, eddie futch or angelo dundee would the pacman ever, ever, ever beat montreal 147 duran.......
Shakes head and removes himself from post......

Duran stops him without a doubt. I don't think anyone can really say if it would be early or late on as we've not seen Pac's durabillity tested at these higher weights yet.

This is the problem with making non-public polls, people can vote for Pac over Duran by KO & not have to explain themselves.
Duran by KO for me.

I pick Duran... but if this was one of those nights where the effects of poor training catch up to Roberto, I have no qualms about giving Pacquiao the nod, via mid-rounds ref stoppage.

Duran would maul him. He's a beast, and Pacquiao would most likely trade with him - big mistake.

I think the fight would be a lot better at light weight or jr. welter. I would say Pacman has a chance here, as he hits harder than Duran does, and favors an opponent who likes to move forward and trade.

I think Duran's power is underrated, he was not simply an accumulation hitter, though that description is more apt than big hitter if we are being strict, he could produce clean kos even if soetimes a little softening up helped his cause on the way.

Duran at any weight and in what ever round he choses.

At Welterweight I think Duran coould give Pacquiao some problems....but I still see the pacman's speed giving him problems two....but at the weight Duran might be to strong and end up KOing the pacman.

Have you even seen Duran's speed at WW? :huh

Quite a way to predict an outcome on one fight from his 119 fought.
Duran would be too smart for Pac. His footwork alone would send Pac's head in a spin and that's before he's even felt one of those wrecking balls connect.

he was best at lightweight, but I have seen many of his fights...Pacquiao is much faster IMO.

hands of stone YES....Pacquiao was faster from what I have seen...and Duran gets frustrated by speed....so I don't think it is as easy as people are making it out to be for Duran...I thinks he wins...but the pacman gives him some problems before he ends up winning

Duran was only frustrated against fighters he couldnt catch. Pacquiao, for all his strengths, is hittable. Duran wouldnt have any problem catching Pac and finishing him off. I know this is all arbitrary but I think this fight is a head to head nightmare for Pac.

I agree.
BoxingGirl, I highly recommend that you watch the first fight between Duran and Sugar Ray Leonard. Sugay Ray was one of the fastest fighters of all time, and he hit MUCH harder than Pacquiao. But Duran didn't have any problems avoiding many of his punches. He was a boxing master, the complete package.
For that reason, I feel that Duran would definitely KO Pacquaio.

Robbi, how do you think Pacquiao would do against Duran at lightweight?
