So far we've had a quick KO (light welter New Ray Robinson over Willie Diamond) and a good competitive cruiserweight fight in which Alfredo Escalera Jr. eked out a decision over Harvey Jolley in which he got knocked down in the 1st round. Personally I gave them four rounds apiece which with the knockdown meant a razor close win for Jolley. Both fought well, no complaints.
Brian Kenny is a better play-by-play man than Joe Tessitore. That's right, you heard it here first.
Teddy Atlas picks Taylor over Pavlik, Barrera over Pacquiao, Kessler over Calzaghe, Cotto over Mosley, and Mayweather over Hatton.
Rodriduez-Collins coming up!

Escalera Jr. looks like a super sized Cotto.

Rodriguez NC2 Collins.
Cut on Collins' eye caused officially by a headbutt, Kenny and Atlas convinced it was caused by a Rodriguez punch.

Man, what a terrible FNF. ESPN didn't do boxing any favors by televising that card. Robinson looked good, but he was basically fighting me. Escalera looked terrible. Jolley was gassed mid way through Round One and he still couldn't hurt him. And the main event, over before it started. Not a big Rodriguez fan anyway. I just can't believe this was the best they could do. And can someone answer me this, has there been a FNF recently where both of the fighters in the two featured fights knew about the fight for more than five days? Come on now, ESPN. Maybe I'm just in a bad mood because I was looking forward to watching boxing tonight, but that sucked.

I switched to Telefutura. Find Rosales boring & No Power. I can't believe Arum offered him for Pac after Pac-EM3 fight.

No power I won't argue, but boring? :huh Not every fighter has to be just like Pacquiao, regardless of what Merchant says...

No doubt that Brian Kenny and Teddy Atlas form one of the best announcing teams in a long time. Their styles simply blend and they work very well together.
Sure looked like that stoppage was due to a right hand and not a headbutt. These are the situations that SCREAM for Instant replay and use of video technology. It's definitely one of the areas that could be used properly and improve the fight game. Referee's are only human and its not a knock on them, this fight might get reversed and that headbutt was invisible:good
Damnitt! I had the bet on the under 6.5 rounds and got excited to see the fight end after the cut. Then I logged into my account and they canceled the bet because it was a no contest! :( The bet just meant under 6.5 rounds and it was under.. what the hell? I wonder if the commission actually reverses it to a TKO and it's a win on Rodriguez's record if the betting site will reverse it too.
Anyways.. tonight's ESPN card sucked, but I really like the Brian Kenny/Teddy Atlas team better than Tessetore/Atlas. That other guy in the studio who does Kenny's job from time to time is annoying. His jokes are horribly unfunny and cheesy as hell. Alfredo Escalera got his chin cracked by a D level fighter, so it would make sense to pick him to get KO'ed when he takes a step up against any real power puncher.
Telefutura was worth watching. I picked Gallardo over Arroyo and I'm glad he didn't get screwed over by hometown judges like he has been before more than once in his career. I thought he could stop him late with accumulation, even with his weak punches, but Arroyo just didn't quit. He doesn't have a great chin and a number of guys in his position would give up after getting pounded more and more every round. Great finish by both guys too.

Boring... it so monotonous. he fights the same pace. No explosiveness. Just listen to the live crowd. I'm just fresh from the World Cup & the fights are all action, Crowd reacts on every punch even if there's no Pacquiao on the card.

Yes, they ripped off Delvin Rod of a soon to be KO win. I hate this kind of stuff to a point where you'd not understand. That trainer should be banned for exploiting this to get his journeyman out of there without a loss.

I agree 100% with you guys that B. Kenny and Atlas made a hell of an enjoyable team. I also agree that Flores(?) cat back in studio was worse than any version of Max Kellerman, and yeah unfortunately the card was kind of piss poor. Oh well on Sept. 7 they gonna have Zab on the card. Maybe they are saving all thier money for that card.

Yeah that trainer was out of line for this imo. They did ripped off Rod.

How come they take the trainer's word that it was a Headbutt. the ref should rule it inside the round.

Kenny and Atlas did team well together - primarily because Kenny challenges some of Atlas' more outrageous comments, and subtly makes fun of him. When he said something like "yeah, you said that last round," I cracked up. Jeez, Atlas says the same thing OVER and OVER throughout the fight, sometime an entire show. He knows alot about the sport, but he gets stuck in one groove and just keeps repeating and repeating the same points.
This night, he appeared stuck on "The oldtimers used to say......"

I don't mind Brian Kenny though, he seems like he knows more than most people would think.
