how does he do it? noel keeps getting fights for fringe, inactive, and up and coming boxers, almost at will it seems.
thornberrys latest scoop is geting maselino masoe a shot at the WBO s middle belt, formerly held by joe calzaghe.
mase is scheduled to meet Karoly Balzsay ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) in germany. a hard fight for mase, as he hasnt had a fight for a while. but that hasnt stopped him performing admirably in previous big fights.
the fight is penned for 25/04/09.
good luck mase. jam that lanky southpaw with a solid right, and you'll be a 2 time world champ!!

Yet Sakio Bikka can't even get a fight, this would of been perfect for him.

Karoly Balzsay got his shot at the title after defeating Jose Clavero and Ruben Acosta in two of his three preceeding bouts.....
Is it any wonder guys like Stipe Drews can become champions with this guys promoter ? The promoter, Klaus-Peter Kohl, was also responsible for manufacturing challengers to Joe Calzaghe's title, challengers that weren't as good as their records would suggest.
Mundine should have stayed in Germany and signed up with Universum after Ottke put him to sleep all those years ago.....

I don't think his level of opposition is that far behind what Anthony's was heading into that Ottke fight though, do you?
He's since gone on and defeated Denis Inkin, so he's proven his worth.

That is what I was told, by people a couple of years by a friend and a trainer of a fighter, who had a fight in germany arranged by noel and another fighter, This was in late 2006.
I'm not sure who it is I just hear ther name Chris meyer when asked about how the fight got made,Look Noel Has contacts, But I not a idiot, I'm around boxing in south east Queensland and also understand a bit of what go's on in germany with Mr khol being one big promoter and other being Mr Sauerland and noel has got fights made with both promoters.

I spoke to Noel not so long ago. He said that they're aware it's Mase's last roll of the dice. I expect him to give it absolutely everything. They've studied tapes of Balzsay and believe he's a solid all round fighter who comes to fight. Should be a cracking fight. Fight takes place at about 7:30am Australian EST.

masoe did himself proud. inactivity and the resulting lack of ring fitness proved his downfall in the end. mase kept it a contest as he landed some good shots during the fight....witch ended in the 11th round.
mase will now consentrate on developing samoan boxers....
noel said Balzsay is the real deal. good fighter, and fair dinkum bloke "no shit in him" was the quote. mase and noel were treated really well by the germans, and great respect was shown to rick thornberry, who is well known in germany.
seems there may be a vaccum of opportunity for a good fighter in the middle/LT heavy division in the thornberry camp. knowing noel can get a fighter a shot at a title in very short time, there must be some boxers out there who'd like some opportunity?? not sure noel would like me saying that, but it is a personal observation.

Noel also got his brother Ricky a shot at Joe's belts a few years ago. Noel & Ricky are both good friends of mine & Noel is close friends with Hedi who would be the most respected matchmaker in Germany / Europe. Hedi is freelance so he will be putting fights together in France - England - USA anywhere.
Angelo Hyder is also close with the Germans & he is good friends with Chris Meyer.
Cheers .. Stu
