I note on the above website that you have to register your interest and give contact details, rather than enter your credit card details.
On one of the pages of the site there is the ITV logo. Could it be the Hennessy is gaging interest and assessing whether it is viable.
This could be a double edged sword in that a lot of interest pay pursuade a TV company to buy the right (bearing in mind no one has paid and no refundss required) alternatively a lot of interest would pursuade him in pursuing PPV in the future
The site does say it will be on Radio 5 Live

Yep, and there's basically no promotional details, no information about what you'll get for your money.
It looks incredibly half-arsed and amateurish.

£10 for an online fight is a bit steep.

Team Froch on the website said it will be of good quality and showing all the undercards, also it will be showtimes broadcast.
Until they start accepting money this can be taken as a bargaining tool in the tv negotiations to try and show that they don't feel cornered into accepting a low offer. Froch''s web people still posted this on the forum today:
"If TV come up with the goods then it will be shown !
But, if they dont we need a back up and this is it.
Aparently the stream quality will be mint and will basically be the showtime event in full.
Undercards and everything."
Still find it inconceivable that this won't be shown as it will undercut the future marketability of Froch bouts from the tv angle if he does win as his future home bouts will surely be shown. Can't believe that a reduced fee won't be agreed as an internet feed in the early hours of the morning just doesn't stack up for anyone

But Showtime won't be showing the undercard, will they? Don't the US networks, outside PPV, show only the headliners?
The Showtime broadcast is 3 hours long, mind.
I can miss Malignaggi and Guinn (although be nice to see them), but I definitely don't want to miss Fury's fight.

This has become a disaster for Froch. He is coming across as a money grabbing whore, be that right or wrong. There is obviously a reason why no UK TV company is picking this up and I would venture that it is all to do with cash.(surprise). Surely it makes more commercial sense for Froch to have the fight shown on UK TV for a lesser fee and to boost his marketability, than to go down the internet route...where most fight fans can find a cheaper alternative. Plus it would give some airtime to some up and coming talent to display their skills to a wider audience.
But what do I know? :-)

Well `Team Froch` on Froch's website forum says that TV coverage can happen `if a deal can be made.`
Although, he's also giving advice on optimal streaming...

Its not looking good for TV, who knows if Setanta (most likely) will come in at the last minute and snap this up, but now the stream has been put up, it isn't looking too good for TV.
One point I wanted to check was how is this going to be shown in bars and pubs??? On someones laptop in't corner????silly...

There was a bit in The Sun about it...
FIGHT fans WILL be able to watch Carl Froch's clash with Jermain Taylor on April 25 — thanks to the internet.
It was feared the Cobra's supporters would miss his first defence of the WBC super-middleweight title after Britain's top TV firms refused to screen it due to the credit crunch.
But the showdown in Connecticut will be shown live on pay-per-view at frochvtaylor.com ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) — much to the champion's relief.
Froch said: "I'm delighted my fans in the UK and Ireland are going to get the opportunity to see me beat Taylor in style.
"He says he's going to teach me how to lose but I have a few lessons of my own in mind for him.
"It's a huge fight for me and a chance to prove beyond doubt that I'm the best super-middleweight on the planet."
Froch, 31, is clearly disappointed with the likes of ITV and Setanta for failing to televise what could be one of the bouts of the year.
But the Nottingham fighter insists the lack of TV coverage is purely down to the economic climate.
He added: "Big and small industries are suffering and sport is no different.
"The last time there was a recession was the 1930s so it's frustrating that I've become world champion at this time.
"It's frustrating not to get the publicity and the coverage we want.
"But I'm not in the sport for the money — I'm in it because I love it."

I still think Setanta will get this, but just a few days before the fight. Setanta have started to buy fights very late because I think they get a cheap deal by leaving it late.

I think the internet broadcast will go ahead. From what I can gather the door has been shut, for the moment, on the deal. The only thing that can happen now is if Setanta, as you say, come in with a late deal. But I really don't think they would've went to all the effort of advertising the web coverage if it wasn't going to happen.

Yeah, not much advertising though. A billboard at a fight and a thin press release distributed to a few boxing websites.
As has been said, once any payments are taken for the fight on the website then there's no coming back - but dont expect a 'payments' option until the day of the fight. It costs nothing to set a website up and put a few banners on Hennessy's own ITV 4 promotion. Team Froch have admitted on their forum yesterday that his is their fall back, and they have to try and make people aware that it exists. Hopefully this absurd situation gets sorted this week and not 24-48 hrs before the fight so it can be given at least some sort of tv build up that it deserves
keeping it as a back up..if no TV interested or cant strike a deal then will have no choices but to stream it.what a shit promoter mh will only take you so far .

Carnage, as a Froch fan are you concerned that this uncertainty and frustration will have had a bad effect on Froch in the build-up?
