He is without a doubt in the top 10 most popular fighters in the UK right now, possibly even top 5.
I posted a video of his fight against Ellis 13 hours ago and it has racked up 2,500+ views on youtube, whilst I also posted the last round of the Diaz vs Reyes fight, which has gained 42 views. :huh

I'm not sure about 'popularity', a lot of people here can't wait for him to get knocked out, no idea why you'd want a good young British heavyweight prospect to get sparked but there you go, that's people some times.
But he's exciting, he's looking good stopping these guys, he's getting TV exposure and he's being talked up, hence why he's gaining a lot of interest.

I don't understand his popularity, what exactly is the attraction to Tyson Fury other than he has a silly name? :huh

yes I cant undrstand why anyone would be interested in a 20 year old marketable white British heavyweight that has stopped all his opponants.
I simply cant get my head around it!

Could it be because you were the only person to upload the Tyson fight yet loads of people have uploaded the Diaz vs Reyes fight?

Wow, you're very clever. Ask your teacher to give you a little sticker.
You could describe him as a "marketable 20 year old white British heavyweight that has stopped all his opponents", or you could say he is a "fat young gypo with a silly name who punches himself in the face and has only fought tomato cans".

There was likely loads of people on youtube looking for the new Tyson movie/docu and stumbled across it, hence the high number of views.
Im going off him now. All the shit with calling out big price before he had even got his debut out of the way was a bit much. His mouth is starting to sign cheques his talent cant cash and if the Brits hate anything its arrogance.
He should remember that he is nowhere near as good as some of the guys at the top of the game and just keep his head down and get back to business.

I just think it is the nature of British sports fans to belittle potential bright sparks as we are a largely pessimistic bunch, who seem to take pleasure in failure instead of supporting potential success.
A few points about Tyson Fury.
1. Tyson Fury's name is brilliant for a boxer. You can call it silly, but that will attract media attention - is that bad for the sport? No. I would certainly follow a boxer called Evander Angry.
2. Tyson Fury has knocked out all his opponents. Yes, he is only a few fights in but the opposition have been decent considering how young he is. He is still learning and, rightly or wrongly, an undefeated record is now very important in Boxing promotion.
3. He is a good looking lad. Weird as that is, it makes a difference in terms of interest and hype. Again, is this bad for the sport? No. So why not back him?
4. He talks a good game. This is the bit that annoys me the most about the naysayers. We need some arrogance/confidence - it is exciting, it is interesting. What would you prefer? More boring plodding heavyweights who have no personality and therefore generate no interest?
5. He appears to have a solid chin - although my only evidence of this is that flush uppercut he hit himself with, and his own claims of never having been on the canvas. Iron-chinned boxers are brilliant, although more proof is needed, Tyson could be one of them and that is brilliant for his title aspirations.
Why not back him?

I think good luck to the guy. He's unproven as yet, but he might just have a chance - and let's face it, we could do with some more interest in the heavyweight division. Be interesting to see him fight up a class quite soon.
I don't really understand why it seems a lot of people look forward to him failing.

Thats one of the oldest cliche's in the book imo and I dont believe it for one second. I always hear about the brits love to see their man fail but why is it then we still hear southern brits ramble on over 40 years later how wonerful it was to win the world cup  ;)
Arrogance is perhaps accepted in boxing once you've earned it but theres no point in mouthing off when all you've done is KO'd a couple of pub landlords, a builder and a painter. Fury already had the support of the british public when he was letting his fists do the talking so as the old saying goes. "if it aint broken dont fix it"

i know the fight barely started before it was over but watching that youtube im not 100% convinced that ellis actually threw a single punch! he just couldnt get past furys ridiculous reach - what a weapon to have. and i disagree with the people that said hes still in as bad a shape as before - i think there is a small improvement from the previous month in his physique.
i have to say tho, he didnt seem to land any great shots on ellis - so i would move towards the idea that ellis just couldnt be bothered rather than that was a great displayu of power. good prospect though and seemingly willing to take on anyone - in the froch and haye mould - my favourite type of boxer.

Would like it to be Tye Fields :yep
Will probably be just an American journeyman who doesn't have a very good record, because they don't know how Fury will adapt to being in America, considering he will not have long there before the fight.

Fair enough. I did search for Fury and realised no one posted it, so I'll be adding +1 to it's views.
There are loads of reasons Fury is popular, fighting better than usual opposition, confidence, name... I agree though, early days, don't count your chickens etc.
There will always be one up and comer who gets more attention, and there will always be people asking why. With Fury it is more obvious than usual why people like him.
Finally, I think he is slowly getting in to shape.

The simple reason there is a level of popularity for Fury is that the uk HW scene has been shit for a number of years, Fury seems to be exciting, able to dish out a bit of punishment, and has got balls and is getting some mainstream publicity. Not rocket science.
I think he just has a bit of novelty value about him right now. This 20 year old 7ft white guy thats kinda podgy looking. It doesn't come around every day.
Plus..he's winning. Always gains interest.
On a personal level I think he's okay. He talks some junk but always with a smile on his face.

It may be with Fury thathe understands how the media works, and is playing the game when he uses his trash talk. Calling price out before price had fought his debut, and a couple of snippets i have seen such as how price has no chin. It may well be the fury is a very clever boy!
I personally also think that although he is podgy, defo getting into better shape each time i see him.
Would like to see him fight Chisora at some point so we can really tell who is the best up and coming prospect

sure he said a few silly things but he is only 20 years old and has won all his 5 fights i dont understand why people have a pop at him he is gaining experience as his career is at a fledgling stage we should encourage this guy but give him time his probably suffering from a little to much exposure but thats his promoters fault not his

Maybe, but it would be good to see, and make fury realise he needs to do one of two things : back up his words with action, or wait in line like every other fucker

I dont mind the kid at all. The bragging and bravardo is all part of boxing hype.
Does he have the skills? I've seen all his fights and to be honest I haven't seen anything really special - but he's only 20 so he's got a long way to go. If he cant get fights in the UK then he should go to the US and fill up on journeymen.
In saying that, over the next 12 months, I'm sure Danny Williams would fight him and Fraudley is always looking for another defining fight. Rogan and Skelton would fancy it too I'm sure.
