It's the moment we've all been waiting for. The day FW forgets the WBU shit and concentrates on the traditional belts and big four.

The WBU website says all but two of their belts are vacant. Admitedly the 147 belt is held by Jennings but hopefully he'll give up on that utter shite and gert involved in some good British/Commonwealth/European scraps.

He's switched his allegiance to the WBO

In fairness, he's becoming less and less cautious of late.

Khan v Barrera and now Kotelnik, obviously Prescott before that.

Maccarinelli with Afolabi.

Even lower down, Pryce with noted punched Matthew Hall etc.

The Commonwealth and WBO are still to be scrapped, but the WBU is a start.

Then the WBA as well.

He leaves everyone at some stage - Sky, ITV, Setanta....

.....or they leave him like Hatton and Calzaghe.

Or have the other belts now become as irrelevant as the WBU? They no longer hold the currency they once did...

I am starting to come round to that belief as well.

It does seem odd when the goal in a sport is to get into the P4P top 10 rather than become world champion!

Sillyman did an article on the scene where he said that power needed to go back to the organisations..... boxing is really a daft sport where there isn't a worldwide governing body such as FIFA, ICC, IRB, FINA etc... perhaps boxing could govern itself as the PGA or LTA does.... there needs to be some dialogue between the TV companies, senior fighters etc to come up with something because all these alphabetty orgs are becoming silly.

More like he was instrumental in getting the WBO recognised. He threw his toys out the pram and was going to start his own governing body (that would recognise the WBO) as a rival to the BBBC because they did not want to give him a promoters license and did not recognise the WBO. At the end of the day the BBBC shit their pants and bent over backwards for FW.

The fighter makes the belt these days with so many top guys in each division holding the iBO.

I'm less worried about the alphabet situation than I used to be, I think they're becoming more and more marginalised.

****** knows that the WBO is as useless as the WBU so now concentrates on that pathetic belt. No WBO champ should ever be called a real world champ and that includes Calzaghe and co.

It was both actually. There was a time when the only title fights sanctioned on these shores were for the WBC. I, personally, would like to see us adopt the Japanese approach to title fights in that they only recognise WBC and WBA. It would shift the power back away from the sanctioning bodies and eliminate the utter bullshit belts.

The BBBofC could also threaten to withdraw recognition of those two if they fucked around too much.

Don't give him ANY credit for making Enzo-Afolabi or Khan-Prescott, they were both seen as easy fights for his guys before the fight.

Maccarinelli with Afolabi.

Even lower down, Pryce with noted punched Matthew Hall etc.He doesnt have a choice. He signed Khan with SKY. Plus his learnt lessons from his overtly cuatious approach with Hatton and Joe.

The fighter makes the belt these days with so many top guys in each division holding the iBO.Thats because the IBO belt is always vacant when theres a big fight. Rather coincidental no..

I'm less worried about the alphabet situation than I used to be, I think they're becoming more and more marginalised.Thats exactly whats happening. The big fights are being made continually because fighters know they'll be a "real" purse on the line and they wont have to pay a sanctioning fee and loose there share of the spoil. The belts are only important for the up and coming fighters trying to make there mark on the world scene. That being said belts like the WBF WBU IBA IBU etc have almost disappeared which is great news for boxing.
