Superstar boxer Roy Jones Jr. has expressed interest in facing UFC Middleweight Champion, Anderson Silva, after Silva had let his intentions be known that he wished to face Jones in a boxing contest. Promoter Bob Arum was eager to promote such a bout to let the world see that "those MMA guys can't throw a straight punch".
Unfortunately it seems the impedus to set up such a fight is dead in the water, since the UFC is no hurry to see their Champion compete in a venue not being promoted by them.
Enter Nick Diaz. With Strikeforce's more flexible attitudes towards fighting and the Strikeforce-Showtime alliance, the barriers to such a fight could very well be coming down. Our camp has already contacted Top Rank Boxing to let them know we would be 100% in favor of such a matchup. Now the ball is in their court.

Roy is finished and he'd still spark both at the same time.

Nick Diaz doesn't have the prestige or drawing power to pull Roy Jones into a fight. He's so full of his own shit. He better worry about the guys in the division around him first.

It would be "Shattered Glass" all over again for Roy. He would get knocked out cold by the first punch Diaz landed.

I have to admit in this instance I am just messing around. I hate Diaz and am not a fan of MMA really.
Roy would mess that joke up pretty bad. Diaz is one of those MMA guys that throws slow looping punches and his stand up is garbage anyway.
Jones by brutal KO. Never thought you would hear me say that did you?

that is not saying much. Too many of those guys throw wide, looping, slow punches that would make Sam Peter look like Ali.

Nick Diaz is arguably one of the best boxers in MMA. Since last year's training alliance with 2004 Olympic Gold Medalist, Andre Ward, Diaz has taken his boxing skills to new heights. Last weekends destruction of MMA "legend" Frank Shamrock was a sign of things to come for the brash 25 year old.
Boxing and MMA have been on a collision course for some time now. Many say boxing is a dying sport and MMA is the future of the fight game in the U.S..
What better way for boxing to show the world that MMA fighters are light years behind the practitioners of the 'sweet science'. A devastating performance by Jones would send a clear message, "if you want to see striking at it's highest level, you won't get it in an MMA fight. You'll have to watch boxing instead."
For MMA fans this is the ultimate test. An experiment to see exactly where their fighters are in relation to boxing's best. A good performance by Diaz would be a victory even if he loses. A win (yes Diaz beleives he has a chance) would be the holy grail for MMA. An early destruction at the hands of Jones would be a somber lesson, but by no means a devastating one. After all, this is an MMA fighter challenging a boxer in his own game. Would anyone have the illusion that a pure boxer could make it in MMA?
Diaz vs Jones is a win-win for everybody. A spectacle? Maybe. However we prefer to look at it as an experiment. An experiment we know that everyone would tune in to.

roy would ride his bitch ass all night long
he might aswell get in the ring with a punch bag hooked up on a bar with wheels
the most likely outcome will be this punk diaz getting a beatdown, so then he roundhouse kicks roy and puts him in a rear naked spider dragan claw monkey ju-jit su master choke

Roy is a good fighter but most would say he has been past it for a good 5 years. Diaz doesn't excite me. Silva excited me cos he's the best at his weight.

Ah Cote ????? When is Nick Diaz boring ? Hes been apart of some of the most kickass MMA fights ever what Anderson Silva fights are as good as Diaz vs Parysian or Diaz vs Sanchez or Diaz vs Gomi or Diaz vs Lawler ?

Why don't these MMA guys ever challenge a boxer in they're 20's? If Diaz is serious, why not challenge Pavlik, Dawson, or someone like Jermain Taylor? They'll have him eating through a tube for a few months.

Yeah well look at his opponents he has been fighting. They are basically put there so Silva can just lay an ass whooping on them.

I like Nick Diaz, I like both him & his brother Nate but he wouldnt be able to compete in a boxing match with Roy Jones, no way, no MMA fighter could.
It works vice versa too, boxers would mostly lose in MMA fights vs MMA fighters.
These guys are artists & these are completely different arts, stick to your own shit or you could get hurt.

Anyway, Nick Diaz main strength is BJJ, not boxing, he`s a brave boy & a true warrior in his own field but it would be a silly move to fight RJJ in a straight up boxing match.

lol thats fuckin funny. About an hour ago I was watching a Diaz fight on HDNet, and was thinking to myself, this guy would get easily beaten in boxing by any average mid range guy. Roy Jones though? even if its a washed up Roy who should be retired, he would destroy and embarass Diaz. I would enjoy seeing it.
Diaz got out struck badly by MMA/boxer KJ Noons I don't think you have to go any farther then that to say Diaz wouldn't beat an upper echoleon boxer. I really like Noons but he isn't the boxer RJJ is.

KJ Noons isnt even the boxer James Countryman is. And hes an undercard fighter whos appeared on Friday Night Fights.
And KJ Noons absolutely embarassed Diaz on the feet.
So no Diaz wouldnt beat an upper echelon boxer, he wouldnt even beat a mid-level boxer.
If MMA'ers want to earn respect, challenge the best, not RJJ. Go after Chad Dawson, Tomasz Adamek not some 41 year old who got brutally embarassed by Joe Calzaghe and is now fighting Omar Sheikas of the world.

Exactly. UFC fighters look ugly as all Hell punching. I saw some of Bisping-Hamill(?) earlier, the punching was so primitive I was sick. I looked better in street fights as a child.
