I think Vitali wins via TKO in rd 8 or 9. Should be pretty competitive, McCline is a Big, strong, and skilled fighter.

I have a weird feeling that McCline, faced with a final shot at the big time, will put up a very good fight. Vitali, on the other hand, will have 3 years of rust and the timing of a lethargic sea anenome. Vitali's loss of reflexes combined with McCline's height will mean that he will have little in the way of defense.

On the other hand, McCline is not a big puncher and is himself as fragile as a Faberge egg. I can see either of them getting injured, but I can also see McCline pulling off an upset beatdown and Vitali quitting.

This is the battle of the cowardly lions. I would say Mcline quits first though he is a complete disgrace. I see Vitali winning a unanimous 10 round sparring session.

If Vitali is at least 50% of his previous self, he wins by KO in under 6.

Vitali by TKO round 7........possibly by round 5.

Given the history of both fighters, I would not be surprised to see it end with one of them suffering an injury not from a punch and being unable to continue.

What happens if they both quit between rounds? Does it become a NC or Draw? This could be interesting, in the same way that surgery is interesting. :think

Good question. I didn't think of that.

Prime for prime, Vitali by first round KO. (First half of first round).

Now, with everything that's happened, it depends on how vicious the years have been to Vitali, and how much the lay-off has affected things.

I would still cautiously predict a KO for Vitali in the first half of the fight.

I havent stated my opinion on the fight. if Vitali is near what he was McCline will lose by midfight stoppage or KO.

Even though brother Wladimir broke him with power punching, it is highly unlikely Vitaly will break the spirit of a guy who was 11 months in solitary in Sing Sing and doin time in Attica too. The Valuev fight may not count and I believe Jameel beat Chris BIG TIME (McCline) as well as Briggs, Grant and other big HWTS - Bottomline, Vitaly has the power tools but may have not the spirit to trigger them and so go the distance and win out of his european style cautious stance, stickin left leads and get away from danger...

A lot of people are making "quitter" cracks.

This stuff about Vitali Klitschko being a quitter, I always thought that was bullshit. He quit on his stool after fighting several rounds with a badly injured shoulder several years ago. Since then, he fought his ass off against the #1 heavy in the world (and an ATG at that), and only lost when the fight was stopped against his protests. He fought a tough brawl against a huge puncher in Sanders. He captured an alphabet trinket and the Ring Championship.

Is Vitali a great fighter? No. Not in my opinion anyway. He was hurt too much, and he didn't have that many truly good wins. But, the man has plenty of heart, and doesn't deserve the "quitter" label.

He had done all that time when he faced Wlad and it made little difference.

He actually looked scared for most of the fight (at least, nervous).

And if Wlad worried him, Vitali is scarier and has a lot more determination and spirit, two areas where Wlad might be considered weak. Vitali has a harder punch and a better chin.

Unless he has been seriously degraded by injury and lay-off, this should be an easy evening for him while he waits for Maskaev or Peter.

He might carry Jameel into the later rounds just to get practice, given his rust, but look for him to KO McLine.

VITLAY will win, unless McCline hits him in his arm, or rubs his beard on his eye.

VITLAY will win, unless McCline hits him in his arm, or rubs his beard on his eye.

Vitali's injury against Byrd did not result from being hit in the arm but rather from throwing a punch (that probably didn't find it's target.)

His one TRUE loss (to Lennox) came from a cuts stoppage caused by a Lennox punch and exacerbated by more Lennox punches.

McCline will lose at the staredown. Remember how scared he was of Glass Jaw Wlad? He will be 10 times more scared of King Vitali. Klitschko by KO in 3 or 4 rounds.

:lol::lol::lol:

I will piss myself if McCline comes into the fight with dreads, and beard and a black doctor...................

(and a super padded stool, in case he 'slumps' too hard at the end of a round, which of course means that he will be KO'd next round......)

This fight will end with either the referee waving over a still-standing McCline or with the referee counting to 10 over an on-the-canvas McCline. Vitali by KO/TKO.

Vitali will have to quit due to a thumb injury. He will say its better to come back another day, than suffer from a thumb injury for the rest of your life.

Ignoramus! As if a rotator cuff injury is the same as a thumb injury.

All the pressure in this fight is on Vitali. McCline is seen in decline but Vitali's ring rust concerns me however Vitali is mentally (emotionally that is) much stronger. I still see Decline folding like a lawn chair in the later rnds.
Vitali by late rnd TKO.

McCline?
With Lennox out of the picture, there are very few who can stand a chance against Vitali (McCline is not one of them). On the other hand, Vitali's body has caused problems for him, numurous injuries and such. Even though he's had surgury to take care of those problems, he's not getting any younger.

The true battle is between Vitali Klitschko and his injury-prone body. I think it would be good for boxing if Vitali stays healthy, but we'll see how long he can last.

Also, if Evander Holyfield can get a title-shot after defeating guys like Lou Savarese and Vinny Maddalone, Jameel McCline is definitely a fair "stay busy" opponent for Vitali.

I've been working in the middle of nowhere for a while and just caught up with the news.

All I can say is, that was possibly the most predictable outcome in the history of boxing.
