How would it of gone if Curry hadn't lingered at lower weights?

Curry is one of the biggest wastes of boxing talent but he'd be in WAY over his head against Hagler @ 160.

He would be decapitated.

...........There were certainly rumblings about it at the time, especially since most experts ranked them numbers one and two in the pound for pound ratings, but realistically, I don't think it would ever have happened. Curry had made inroads into the 154 pound ranks, but still wanted to make a mark in that talent-laden division first. The junior middles were hot stuff then, the best division in boxing, with guys like Mugabi, Julian Jackson, Matthew Hilton, McCallum of course, Drayton making noise and on a hell of a run; just a lot going on there he wanted to get into.

Couple that with the fact Hagler was by this time fighting only once a year and having a couple years' worth of dances already penned on his card, and Curry would have had a hell of a wait.

You've got to think that there could of been some kind of eventual big money crossroads between them, though... If Curry hadn't did what he did and ruined his career in the process... Maybe a gradual move up in weight as the years went by, the Halger/Curry fight becoming more and more of a reality, Curry slowly moving up in weight...

Who knows.

Why is it negativity. It's not. Curry was an outstanding fighter with many impressive defenses to his credit, second only to Lloyd Honeyghan.

Curry's toast, even if he moved up earlier before the weight problems got to him I can't see him being competitive even against a faded Hagler, not durable enough

Curry did set the record for defenses and unified the title in 2 rds to leonard's 14 rds.Thomas Hearns and Milton McCrory were much different opponents in caliber, as were Ray's opponents like Duran and Benitez to Currys. Curry's style with his feet wide apart would have been tough for Hagler for a round or two when Curry was countering Hagler with his speed, but once Marvin started to land on Curry and Curry felt his power it would be all over and Marvin would stop him in 6 or 7. Marvin would take over in a few rounds and Curry wouldn't know how to deal with a big man's strength.

Curry may have a slight shot, but Marvin would start tagging that questionable chin and all would be over.
