after winning the undisputed championship at a higher weight against a much bigger opponent? He was top 15 in many lists before...

Top 5 would even be fair for him. Top 10 without dispute.

I agree he deserves to be in the top 5 p4p. At this moment he is the best pure boxer outthere and the best since Pernnel Whitaker.

He's a superb boxer but his lack of power means he shouldn't be rated higher than 10.

Yeah, Whitaker would of been pound for pound the best for much of the 90's; but the lack of power killed him. I suppose he sneaked into my top 10 after holding Chavez to draw; but just for that week mind.

He is about top 15, maybe top 10.

Wait hes a 2 weight WBO champ, he hasnt cleaned out or unified with the other minimumweight champs and hes only jumped up 3lbs to light-flyweight to fight for another WBOgus belt.
Some dispute hes the best minimumweight around.

Just because he lacks power doesn't mean he doesn't deserve top 10 status

Hes also had 2 SDs back to back

I think that his lack of power is exactly what gives him his p4p status. The fact that he has enough talent to make up for size and power deficincies is quite impressive.

He just beat the 108 undisputed Ring Magazine champion. That pretty close to unifiying. Aldo 3 lbs at 105 means 3% of your body. Thats like a 160lb fighter going up to 165. The thing is that he was a small 105 to begin with. He is a tiny guy. When he was in the ring announcing, there were two kids behind him that were like 11 year olds and they looked as big as him.

Calderon left three strong titlists back at minimumweight. Why?
The WBC, WBA and IBF are all strong champs.

He's a superb boxer but his lack of power means he shouldn't be rated higher than 10.intangiables like power chin speed dont matter as long as you win against good ops fight well and look damn good doing it your pound 4 pound material
i dont know though becuase as good as he is he hasnt fought anyone of late in minimum where as joe calzaghe fought ex champions and unified the division for one fight lol same with pretty boy so hard to argue.
i hope he clear out the division and then move up one more and show the world that straws/minimums mean business

also eagle kyowa is the main champ at straw so maybe we could see a unification at one point... i think it could bring alot of attention to the wieght

Just because he was the ring champ at 108 didn't make him the best or unified. He didn't beat any of the WBC/WBA/IBF Champs. Calderon also didnt fight the WBC/WBA/IBF Champs at 105
Yes going from 105-108 is the equivilent of going from 126-130 - but its still only 1 division and 3lbs is really f*** all.
Being a 2 weight WBO Champ is not that impressive especially at weights were there are next to no fighters fighting at.
Calderon is not P4P top10 material by a long shot. He looks good but hes not seeking out the best in his division by a long shot.

same could be said for floyd, he didn't unify any division he also only held one title in each weight division, he also didn't fight the best in all divisions.

Beating the top guys is what counts. Calderon has not done that at 105 or 108.
Why was Cazares the Champion? He was the WBO champion, he never unified and the guy who had the belt before him won the vacant belt.
NO UNIFACTION/NO TOP FIGHTERS SQUARING OFF - NO CHAMPION AT 108

Floyd is one of my favorite fighters, but also he has had a controversial decision against the first castillo fight, and to say he fought the best top 2 at 147 its a false statement and at 154 some opponents could give him trouble...u making it seem like calderon ran away from the 105 and the wbo belt is worthless, remember he left the division because of the lack of opponents including other belt holders didnt want to fight him... plenty of articles about that, making calderon to move up to 108... and u will be surprise if i give u a list of former and current wbo champs...

My main point is his comp isn't great.
Did the other champs really not want to face him? I doubt this as Calderon is the biggest draw in the division. If they truly did then that isnt his fault for not facing him.
Floyd fought the last 2 linear champs at 147 as he should - whether they were the best is up for debate. Delahoya was possibly Floyds touchest opponent at 154 with Winky leaving
I know there are main great fighters who have owned the WBO BUT this doesnt mean owning it makes you a P4P candidate - I think Calazage only had 1 mandatory in 10 YEARS!!!!!

its hard to get any fights at 105, another main reason he has to move up, i dont think people are saying hes p4p because he holds a wbo belt, but because of his success and current streak... before his last two fights calderon was dominating almost every round in every single fight he defended his belt which was so impressive... I probably misunderstood you about your interpratations of the wbo... but heres a list of past wbo champs Miguel Cotto,Oscar De La Hoya ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Marco Antonio Barrera ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Naseem Hamed ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Michael Carbajal ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Johnny Tapia ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Harry Simon ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Nigel Benn ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Gerald McCellan ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Joe Calzaghe ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Michael Moorer ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Dariusz Michalczewski ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Chris Eubank ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Vitali Klitschko ([Only registered and activated users can see links]), Chris Byrd ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and Wladimir Klistchko ([Only registered and activated users can see links]) and not to forget current wbo champs such as juan diaz, jermain taylor, paul williams, juan manuel marquez...
