Hmm interesting. If this was a pure BJJ match my money would be on BJ.BJ`s Jujitsu is the best iv EVER seen.Apart from big Nog iv never seen anyone execute the type of moves he can on the mat.Monson is also a great submission wrestler but he doesnt have the moves of Penn, his dexterity, his athleticism nor his indepth knowledge of Jujitsu. To my knowledge Monson is only a brown belt.

I think Monson is too strong for BJ but one never knows.

Monson, and easily. Way too thick, and way strong. On top of that we are talking about a World Class Submission fighter when talking about Monson. BJ Penn is amazing, but that is asking too much.

Monson may have flaws as an MMA fighter but in pure submission grappling he is one of the best in the world. He's also 240 lbs or thereabouts.

I love BJ Penn as much as the next guy but if we are talking about a submission match under ADCC rules then I would always go for Monson.

As usual Arona wins in ADCC. Is he unbeaten in that competition? I saw a video of him beating Gonzaga....the guy is a monster at grappling.

Too bad he'll only ever be remembered for getting slammed by Rampage, Hammerfisted by Shogun and KO'd by one punch from Sokoudjou

He has never lost in ADCC, and will be remebered for more than what you said. He's still one of the best LHW's in the world. In a rematch I think a 100% Arona may beat Shogun. He was also winning against Rampage before the slam, and think he could win a rematch there as well.

Agreed, Arona needs to pull himself together and make another serious run at the top. Arona's ground control+elbows+cage=:admin

That's why I said it. Noone beats Arona in pure grappling. I am not sure even Roger Gracie could sub him, and he sure as hell wouldn't win on points. I'd like to see a rematch nowadays with Jacare and Arona(Arona beat him as a brown belt a long time ago), and I'd even like to see if Marcelo can use his amazing ability to overtake wrestling style grapplers to beat Arona.
Really? I need to watch more of Arona.

Arona to me is just a Jackson victim.
