View Full Version : What next for Khan if he beats Kotelnik?

The WBA mandatory challenger for the winner of the Khan-Kotelnik fight is Dimitry Salita. That should be an easy defence for Khan as Salita is pretty average.

On the same day as Khan-Kotelnik, Victor Ortiz will fight Marcos Maidana (who dropped a SD to Kotelnik in his last fight) for the WBA interim title and, therefore, if Khan makes it past Kotelnik and Salita then he'll be in for a really difficult fight against either Ortiz or Maidana.

However knowing the WBA they may elevate Khan to super champ and make the winner of Ortiz-Maidana regular champ....

The WBA is a joke. You lose a fight for a title, then get a shot at an interim title straight away.

Ortiz would be a real handful...... I'd assume Maidana would be as well, bearing in mind he took Kotelnik to a split decision and his KO record.

Taking into account Khan's interview on BBH yesterday.... I would expect him to honour his defences - bearing in mind he said the 140lb route was easier than Marquez (undoubtedly true)..... to vacate and stay at 140 (or go to 135) would make him look daft.

The only way around that would be if Marquez got the Pac/Hatton/Floyd fight.... and therefore vacated. But even then - Khan would most likely have to beat Diaz to win the title (unlikely IMO) and you couldn't rule out Marquez coming back down at some stage - or a 130lb'er moving up.

When you are at that level, you simply have to fight who is put in front of you to avoid looking daft!

Maidana looked strong against kotelnik, and would be way too much of a risk for Khan.

Ortiz is even worse for Khan.

Yeah, they've stripped Bradley apparently but Khan won't fight for that if he wins the WBA.

They're trying to shoehorn the undeserving (Don King fighter) Devon Alexander into the WBC title.

I hope Witter gets the fight against Alexander. Who the hell has Alexander beat to be ranked no.1?

:-(

Ortiz-Maidana is on the same day as Khan-Kotelnik. John-Juarez II will be the main event. Maybe Sky will get it and tag it on to the PPV?

Maidana and Ortiz beat the hell out of Khan.

Styles make fights, Kotelnik was on the fortunate end of a close fight against him. He stood up against some heavy fire.

You should get a job at skysport mate ...but you know sky wont do that becos your average Joe who will be watching Khan wont have a clue who Maidana and Ortiz are ! .... I like Maidana and he was very very unlucky IMO againsy Kotelnik - think Kot got the European decision in that one !

Rematch with Prescott.......at whatever weight.

If he faces and beats Prescott, then I'll say I'm impressed (slightly!).

They stripped Bradley? What kind of bullshit is that?:verysad

Anyway, should Khan win a title that isn't the WBO he will most likely have to face the top guys in the division sooner or later.

Does Don King control Jose Sulaiman?

Don Kings money does.

Im expected a few title defences against easy mandatorys and even easier voluntaries before a move back down to 135 once Marquez has vacated, or a unification with the WBO 140 champ at the time of asking. I can see Khan beating Bradley right away to be truthful if he gets "Super Champion" status.

Could be a draw over here as well, given Bradleys last 3 fights have been broadcast to a British audience. I dont see Bradleys overhand right doing too much damage, and i dont feel he brings much else to the table. Make it happen Frank (Y).

My bad, they haven't stripped him yet but he has to fight Alexander next or vacate.

Does Don King control Jose Sulaiman?

Yes and has done for years. Tyson getting his title back on the "long" count vs. Douglas only got recinded because of the outrage from the public.

Khan should go straight for Hatton. Hatton will have lost to Pac and will be wanting to boost his earnings once more before he calls it a day. Khan will then do a job on him in 6 rounds.

If I were Bradley though.... I'd keep the WBC and get rid of Alexander - he might want an easier fight after being decked twice against Holt... this is it!

Not overly convinced about Ortiz... potentially a Golden Boy hype-job.

Didn't Khan knock him out in the ams?

I think Valero's people are trying to get Prescott for their man.

Prescott loses that fight and Khan won't want him.

Prescott wins that fight and Khan won't want him.

Of course Prescott's contractural obligations are all fucked up at the moment, so who knows who he might be fighting, and when.

ishy

Valero-Prescott might go down the shitter. ******'s been a cunt and has told Top Rank that he has options on Prescott so Top Rank have stopped negotiations with Arena.

****** claims he'd like Prescott to face Valero but any deal has to be made with him and not Arena/Oner who also claim to have a contract with Prescott.

Beeston Brawler

I don't know why ****** won't let Prescott take on Valero.... he won't sell big here, may as well cash out on him against Valero.

Khan seemed keen on a rematch.... but D-Mac has it spot on. Prescott wins, uh-oh.... not happening... if he loses he won't be relevant anymore in ******'s eyes.
